Reporter the woman killed by police after trying to drivethru barracades and leading officers to the capitol held the belief that president obama was communicating with her according to officers. Investigators have been talking to 34yearold Miriam Careys family. She had stopped taking medication for psychosis and postpartum depression she experienced after giving birth to her child found unharmed after the chase. 26 shots were fired by both the secret service and Capitol Police as they tried to stop carey that was unarmed. The Washington Police department is now examining whether the deadly use of force was warranted. The Police Officers that were firing that shot knew that she had not fired back. That could be an issue. In lawmakers minds, the officers, especially the two injured, are heros. These brave men and women put their lives on the risk every day. Reporter now theyre risking their lives without pay because of the shutdown. Careys family is now working to bring her little girl back to connecticut. Currently she is with child protective services. Until last night they werent sure where the child was being kept. Today is day five of the government shutdown. The house will convene later this morning followed by the senate around noon. House lawmakers will vote on a bill to pay nearly 800,000 federal workers now on furlough. The back pay will come once the shutdown ends. The house passed seven minifunding bills. Theyll reconvene at noon. Harry reid and the senate wont take up any of the bills. Theyre saying congress should reopen the entire federal government. Also today theyll hold a News Conference at the capitol to call for negotiations to reopen the government and democrats will hold one this morning. Several couples set to marry at the National Mall this weekend had no choice but to change their plans because of the show down. Today two couples will get married in the gardens of the national cathedral. The cathedral is offering its gardens for those ceremonies free of charge. At least 15 people were hurt in the twisters but no fatalities have been reported. 17 different twisters might have been on the ground between the three states. Homes, businesses and schools were effected knocking out power to thousands. Theyre linked to the weather front that dumped nearly a foot of snow on the dakotas and the plains. Its accompanied by 70 Miles Per Hour winds and the authority hearsay to issue a no travel advisory in the area. School, business, and main City Services are us pended until the weather calms down.
