Fairfax county police say the woman was walking on route 1 in alexandria when someone stabbed her shortly after midnight. Its not clear who the suspect is. Now, the woman, 43yearold medina Michele Thornton passed away on sunday. Monday, the medical examiner ruled she died from complications from that attack back on september 19th. Thornton was found in a home in the 300 block of delafield police. Police are offering a 2500 reward for any information the ntsb plans to conduct more interviews today to find out what caused an amtrak derailment in philadelphia. The train hit a backhoe on the tracks, but its not clear why that backhoe was left there over the weekend. Nbcs tom costello shows us what new data is revealing about the crash. Reporter this morning investigators want to know why amtrak Maintenance Equipment was sitting on two sets of tracks sunday morning as train 89 approached at 106 miles per hour, just under the posted limit of 110. The times mirror report a man accused in the stabbing is in custody. The church reports hes in stable condition. A tragic accident on the grounds of an an 18yearold was using a model rocket when it exploded and he died. A 17yearold who was with him was also seriously hurt. Both teenagers were students at a Southern California high school near where the accident happened.
