Im erika gonzales. It is a storm team 4 weather alert day the Severe Weather has moved on and now the cold is moving in. Erika, a shot to the system by later tonight and tomorrow morning. But first i want to talk about this afternoon. I was on facebook live, tracking a radarindicated Tornado Warning for parts of charles, prince georges and calvert counties. Radar indicated means the radar is seeing rotation, but not necessarily picking up a tornado on the ground. So i just called the National Weather service, they had not confirmed a tornado. They said if they continue to get more damage reports, they will send out a team to investigate. So thats the first thing, getting you up to speed. And the Severe Threat is over. No more thunderstorms in the forecast. Not only tonight, but pretty much for the next ten days. Maybe a chance on wednesday. More on that coming up. Now its all about big temperature changes in the forecast. From highs this afternoon in the 70s to morning around 30 degrees, were tracking a 45degree temperature change across the area. So here is that line of thunderstorms well off to our east. Skies are clearing, winds are increasing, and, well, as we look to monday morning and sunday morning, as well, this is what we can expect. So sunday and monday, around 7 00 a. M. , well have wind chills in the low to mid 30s, erika. Ill have more on what you can expect throughout the day coming up at about 6 18. I want to show you a couple images that were so impressive that came into our news room. This almost looks like snow on the ground, really, all those strong pellets coming down, the hail. The president says he is skipping the white house correspondents Associations Annual dinner. He tweeted out the news an hour ago. Trump, if you remember, has waged war against the media, accusing of it being the enemy of the american people. The dinner raises money for scholarships and it gives out awards for excellence in reporting. Organizers say the dinner will go on as scheduled. Thats april 29th. Developing right now, a former Montgomery County Council Member makes history as chair tom perez is the first latino to hold that post. Hes a former labor secretary. Much more on this victory later in the broadcast for per rez. Now to a developing story in Montgomery County. Somebody crashed right through a car dealership building. This is on rockville pike, where we find news4s jackie bensen. Jackie, you are right there, so close to the scene. How did all of this shape out . Reporter well, hi, erika. We are told this was caused by a medical emergency. Take a look at the building behind me. You can see that damage, which we are told is structural damage. That happened after this incident, which started about 3 00 this afternoon. Now, were told that this was essentially a chain reaction, that there was a tahoe, a big suv outside the building that actually pushed a smaller car, a small black acura, about 25 to 30 feet deep inside this area of the orsman mazda dealership where they prep cars and deliver to customers. We spoke to a deputy chief were the rockville fire department. The vehicle was going to be delivered, had just been purchased. The driver of the vehicle, we believe, was transferred to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. And the Biggest Issue for us at this point, beyond the injury, once we got that taken care of, was we found structural damage. Reporter now, we are told that the this section of the building is closed today, because, again, the dealership will have to repair that structural damage. No Information Available on the condition of the employee. Live in rockville, jackie ben n bensen, news4. Thank you. Two teenagers are in the hospital after being shot while waiting for a bus. This happened at the naylor road metro area. The windows just shot out. On the ground. Police say somebody in a passin car opened fire. A 15yearold boy critically hurt, and a 16yearold girl is expected to survive her injuries. Metro Transit Police say both were taken to the hospital, but no word on what exactly sparked this. Leaders in the district are trying to stop that kind of violence. News4s derrick ward shows how they are working together to make a difference. Reporter a violent week in the district. Evidence markers, crime scene tape, officers down, seen too often repeated on the street. Saturday afternoon, a different kind of reaction, facing off on the court instead of the courtroom. D. C. Police cadets versus students and ball players from anacostia high school. Stop the violence, basketballstyle. Reporter frederick is one of the organizers of this annual stop the violence basketball classic. Stemming from an earlier effort to curb police brutality. Really, at the end of the day, it amounts to o reporter and the effort has grown into something broader. To engage our community and be more involved with whats going on. This is a positive interaction our cadets are going to have at anacostia high school. We have a lot of issues. This is what shoppers saw as youre watching news4 at 6 00. Police in Prince Georges County trying to figure out who shot and killed a woman in sbring dale. They found her unresponsive early this morning at the corner of ardwick road. Police are trying to put together a motive and suspect information in that case. Lightning may have started a fire near a mall in annapolis today. Look at these pictures weve got for you. These images are from jennifer street off u. S. 50, right near the westfield annapolis mall. This fire started about 3 00 this afternoon. Trying to figure out if the fire caused any damage. But pretty scary sight there for shoppers. Lets go back to one of our top stories tonight. He served as labor secretary for president obama. Now tom perez will chair the dnc. As nbcs Chris Pollone reports, his election was anything but a smooth one. Mr. Tom perez. Reporter after two ballots in atlanta, members of the Democratic National committee chose a former obama cabinet member as their new party chair. Hes former labor secretary, tom perez, a favorite of the party establishment. He at minnesota congressman, keith ellison, backed by the partys more liberal faction by 35 votes. Immediately perez moved to unite the party, naming Ellison Deputy chair. Ellison quickly embraced the unity message. If youre wearing a keith tshirt or any tshirt, i am asking you to give everything youve got to support chairman perez. Reporter perez has a tall task ahead, replenishing the partys dwindling cash supply and trying to elect democrats to governors offices, state legislatures and congress. We need to make house calls. We need to listen to people. We need to get back to basics. First i want to show you the storm report we have received this afternoon. Notice a lot of the activity south of washington. So we saw really impressive thunderstorms start to develop around fredericksburg, parts of king george and parts of Prince Georges County and calvert county. This is where we had that Tornado Warning issued. Again, no confirmed tornado by the National Weather service, but lots of reports of quarter to dimesize hail, strong wind gusts, and i want to thank everybody for sharing all of the photos on facebook and twitter. It is so helpful to see what is going on exactly in your neighborhood. So keep them coming. We love to see them, whether its Severe Weather, sunny weather, tomorrow morning. Well, its going to be cold weather. You want the warm jacket throughout the day tomorrow. And its not just today to tomorrow where were tracking really big temperature swings. This is your second weather headline. But as we head into the week, and we enter into march, temperatures kind of all over the place during the workweek. The one great thing about the weather tomorrow, plenty of sunshine from start to finish. So you definitely need the sunglasses throughout your sunday. But quite a difference. So many people out and about today, taking advantage of the nice weather until, of course, the storms move through. By tomorrow morning, 37 degrees, but feeling more like 30 with the winds. Andwi after that, the winds do die down. By about 11 00 a. M. , noon, around 46. And a high tomorrow of 50. So about 25 degrees cooler than today, and then its cold again tomorrow night. And that cold weather greets the kid owes on monday morning. As they get on the school bus. Because of the big change, the weather having a low to moderate impact on your sunday. Travel looking fine. Chance of maybe some showers on tuesday with a high of 65 degrees. Wednesday, its looking like we could have a few showers around throughout the day. So mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. And we could even have a few rumbles of thunder, i think, wednesday night. Maybe into very early thursday morning. Otherwise we have increasing sun on thursday, and its a windy day. So 60 degrees will feel cooler with the winds. Maybe a shower or two, erika, on friday. Breezy, otherwise, and a high of 47. So bottom line, its going to be chilly out there tonight.
