She was told 3yearold somehow managed to walk out of the building and was missing for several minutes until a stranger found her at the end of the block and brought her back. What if she never came back . What if my daughter was hurt or hit or anything . Reporter jasmine attended a meeting this morning with School Officials where she demanded answers. She was begin this copy of the incident report and learned a little more about how her daughter was able to walk out. They said it was nap time and they laid the kids down. One of the teachers left out of the classroom. The teachers aide was in there. She put a blanket on one child. Reporter thats when jasmine says the aide noticed she was gone. A spokesperson for d. C. Public schools says theyre investigating the say, quote, we have measures in place to ensure that students and staffer are in a Safe Learning environment in every school. And if those structures broke down, well work to restore them. Jasmine says not only did those structures break down, but so did her trust in School Officials. I got lucky this time. The next time i might not. Reporter jasmine was told it will take about six weeks for the school to investigate this incident. We asked if any of the adults will be receiving any sort of disciplinary action or if any changes will come as a result of this incident. We were told they cant comment. That would be a scary moment for any mom. Thank you so much. Parts of our area have been getting hit with winds gusting up to 50 miles an hour. The Transit Agency has now fired 21 members of its track Inspection Team after a derailment outside the East Falls Church station. In addition, a yellow line door before the train got to the platform is now facing more scrutiny. That incident happened just a couple of days ago. Transparen adam tuss has been trying to keep up with all of it. He is at the Reagan National station right now. Its getting complicated out there. Lets start with the yellow line train operator and the doors opening up in the air. What have we learned about that . Reporter lets start with that one. That happened here at the Reagan National station at an aerial section right outside the station platform here. Amazingly, the operator of this yellow line train was the same operator involved in the deadly la font plaza smoke incident nearly two years ago. Take a look at this picture that we got from a rider on board. It was shared with the Washington Post and then shared with us. You can see riders simply kind oft what was going on. When Something Like this happens, the train operator is supposed to then go and do a walkaround, its called, around the train and figure out if someone fell out of the train, if anyone was hurt. That simply didnt happen. Other metro sources are telling us this operator did not follow proper procedure. A train just like this the other day on tuesday, they come to a stop here sometimes right outside the Reagan National station. Thats when the train doors opened here. This operator under intense scrutiny. Listen to metros general manager about it. Again, were going to have the investigation go through all those things to see if automatic procedures were followed. Reporter thats one part of the story today. The other part of the story is dealing with these firings. And we heard today that 21 members of Inspection Team were fired now. This is after the East Falls Church derailment that happened last summer. Of course, that was an incident where a train carrying passengers actually did derail over a section of track outside of East Falls Church. Metro claims that inspection reports were falsified for a long time. And now we have 21 people fired from the track Inspection Team. That is nearly a third of all of metros track inspectors. 35 people total are facing disciplinary action. In less than an hour students from all over the country are going to descend on george masons campus. Theyll pack Eagle Bank Arena to rally support for the annual march for life which is an annual antiabortion rally. Tomorrows march is getting a real shot of energy. We have already seen the mayors of los angeles and seattle threaten to sue the white house over this executive order. Now district leaders are preparing for that possibility as well. Its possible that d. C. Along with a lot of other jurisdictions will be identified legality some of the provisions and the constitutionality of them. Reporter the districts deputy mayor says like many cities across the country, d. C. Is still trying to figure out exactly what the president s executive order means and if its legal. But he says d. C. Is committed to remaining a sanctuary city for illegal residents. Because it does keep our city safer. It does allow for more c and less fear between police and First Responders and those who are undocumented. The district receives more than 3. 5 billion a year in federal grants. 2. 2 billion is for medicaid payments. Medicaid, i cant imagine the federal government is going to cut off. If medicaid is untouched, that leaves more than 1 billion still at risk. Do we really want the Nations Capital to go into a financial free fall . The free areas with the most to lose, Public Education which receives nearly 270 million a year, Human Services which provides low Income Housing and homeless services, 172 million. And the department of health which receives 128 million a year. I certainly understand the president s viewpoint. He ran for office on this and he won and hes trying to implement it. But i think they have to think better rather than just throw this out here. At the end of the day, its just not realistic. Theres still lots of questions about when the cuts would take effect. If this lands in court, it could all be delayed for some time. While some jurisdictions in our area are ambivalent about whether or not theyre actually a sanctuary city, theres no question about d. C. Theyre proud of it in every way possible. No question, theres a lot of money on the line. Absolutely, more than a billion dollars. Here at home, new year, new mural. The officer who came noticed the suspect was wearing jewelry breakins. Now he faces multiple counts of burglary and grand larceny any. Its been a boon to Neighborhood Watch too. They just had to buy new twoway radios as a force of two on patrol just grew to ten. Those seven greenpeace protesters who climbed a crane in Downtown Washington yesterday are making their first appearance in court today. Theyre charged with burglary, unlawful entry and destruction of property. The group hung a banner over the crane that read resist. The protests came a day after the Trump Administration moved to delay the implement take of at least 30 environmental rules and froze new Environmental Protection agency contracts. The protesters stayed on the crane until after 10 00 last night. They were were getting new video of a deadly crash in frederick. You can hear the moment of impact just as a congressional motorcade rolls through. On wednesday a dump truck slammed into the back of an suv. It burst into flames and killed the driver on interstate 70 at the ramp to 270. Officers had stopped traffic to allow the buses and the motorcade to pass. Every School District in virginia now has to take action after a news4 iteam investigation. The state board of education is ordering districts to make sure they properly revoked the licenses of every teacher whos admitted to Sexual Misconduct with a student. It comes after the iteam found Fairfax County schools allowed at least four teachers to fall through the cracks after misconduct with students. Reporter here at the State Capitol in richmond, the order today from state education officials impacts every School District in the commonwealth. The head of virginias board of education saw our iteam investigation showing Fairfax County schools allowed years to pass before sending in the necessary paperwork to revoke the licenses of at least four teachers who admitted misconduct with students. In one of those cases, brad norton managed to find a new teaching job in maryland and later admitted Sexual Assaulting another student there as his paperwork languished in fairfax. At a state school board meeting, the School Board President said he wants all School Districts to check their books for languishing cases. The actions that have been taken and the efforts that are being made now will ensure that children are safe and that we are timely again, abuse that right and privilege of being a teacher. Reporter he also issued this memo to all School Superintendents in virginia reminding them of their responsibility understate regulations to report suspected improprieties by teachers to the state. Youre concerned its possible there are revocation cases languishing elsewhere in virginia. There probably are and we dont know about it. We hope thats not the case. Were going to err on the side of safety for children. Reporter its becoming more proactive in how it handles teacher misconduct allegations. The father of a victim of one of those four teachers told us hes worried there are. Would you be surprised if there are more out there . I expect it.
