Police found more pictures on his phone. He is charged with three counts of sex abuse with a minor. The principal sent home a letter that said we expect and require our employees to be held to a High Standard of character and these allegations certainly violate that. Three teenagers have been killed in a crash in Montgomery County. A tragedy thats hitting close to home for one police officer. The accident happened last night on burnt hill road in damascus. The students were all juniors at Clarksburg High School. Chris gordon is live with new t members of the Clarksburg Community have been coming here to the accident scene throughout the day to stand together, to share a hug, and to shed a tear. Students gathered to grieve at the roadside memorial for their friends and classmates. The crash happened on burnt hill road where the road goes downhill into a series of tight curves. 17yearold jacob dennis was driving. He and his passengers were killed. C. J. Chen, a classmate, left flowers and wrote messages in the chalk in the School Parking spaces where they parked every day. Even though they passed away, the sky will still be blue. They cant have passengers for the first five months. All occupants have to be seat belted. They cant have any alcohol and they cant talk on cell phones. The verdict thats come down for a local nurse accused of sexually abusing his patients. He worked as a traveling er nurse. He was charged with inappropriately touching patients in cases that dated back to 2013. The jury found him guilty on three charges, not guilty on three charges, and they deadlocked on four additional charges. Another jury today found a man guilty of a brazen Home Invasion and rape on capitol hill. The trial raised Big Questions about the criminal Justice System because the suspect violated parole just days before the attack. Mark segraves is at superior court with a look at why the jury almost deadlocked on a verdict. Mark . Reporter thats right, jurors today told us as they were leaving the courthouse they almost couldnt reach a verdict. In fact, one of the jurors during deliberations told the judge she didnt think a rape was actually committed. Today we learned that that juror was the same juror who later asked to be excused from the jury. Antoine pitt didnt dispute that the mother of two Young Children had been beaten and raped, but he said his cousin did it. After the first day of jury deliberations, one of the jurors said she had doubt there was even a crime. She disputed the rape and i guess the mechanism of injury. Reporter this juror, who did not want to be identified, said the other jurors were shocked. The juror who disputed the rape eventually told the judge she was too sick to remain on the jury and she was sent home. But even then jurors were almost deadlocked. The deliberations at times became heated. And got through it. Reporter today the jury did find pitt guilty on all charges, but friends of the victim say pitt should never have been on the streets in the first place. Just weeks before the rape, pitt had violated his parole from another conviction and removed his courtmonitored ankle monitor. A judge allowed him to remain out of jail despite warnings that pitt was a threat to the community. And you let him go out . Why did you think he was safe to go . Reporter hell be sentence ed in august. Hes facing another trial here for a second Home Invasion that happened the same week. In that case, he only robbed the victim. Some bad news for a man on trial for attacking a couple in m the judge ruled today that the defense cannot argue that Andrew Schmuhl was suffering from medicationinduced delirium when he tasered, stabbed, and shot a Law Firm Partner and his wife. Prosecutors say schmuhl and his wife planned the attack after she was fired from the victims law firm. Yesterday schmuhl testified he was in a mental fog from the many medications he took at the time and doesnt remember anything about the attack. Closing arguments could begin in this case tomorrow. A Culpeper County sheriffs deputy is on administrative leave tonight. He shot and killed the suspect in a violent and disturbing case of Domestic Violence on gray street in culpeper. Walker shot several times and got in. Once he got into the home, he fired and killed the male occupant. Reporter then he allegedly turned his rage on his wife, beating her until he thought she died. Deputies surrounded the home and sidewa walked stepped out onto the front porch, gun in hand. The officers heard him say ive killed two. Reporter he ignored several requests to drop the shotgun. The deputy fired his service weapon, killing the suspect. Hes done a fine job. I consider him a vital part of the office. A sheriffs deputy is recovering tonight after being shot several times in virginia. It happened around 11 00 last night in stafford county. Deputies were called to a house to investigate a possible break in. One they got there, someone started shooting. One officer was hit four times, but he is expected to survive. The body armor protected his upper chest and saved his life. Officers launched an allnight man hunt and arrested a teenager a mile away. Joshua sumter has been charged with attempted murder. Federal agents say theyre trying to reclaim a piece of american history, an important piece, an 80yearold painting thats hanging on a wall in a new jersey mans living room. Its the latest effort by the feds to track down priceless pieces of Great Depression art. During the worst of the Great Depression, the federal government commissioned thousands of works of art to keep artists from starving and get wall directions fecorations government buildings that were being built. Federal agents have recovered 53 of those works of art in just the past six months. Some in basements o they have just filed suit against this new jersey man, matthew schwartz, trying to reclaim this government commissioned piece of Great Depression art. The artist is john slavn, the painting is called 1934 farmer. Schwartz says hell challenge the lawsuit saying he spent money restoring the painting and claiming the feds dont have rights to depression era art anymore. All of the art does remain government property. Its important because this is the history of america. Its the history of the united states. The paintings are kind of a vibrant look at life between 1934 and 1942. It is just part of our nations heritage. The feds say they discovered that painting in new jersey when they saw it being advertised on ebay. The man theyre suing to return it posted it for sale for about 10,000. And how a for the first time, were seeing how a man managed to convict his own killer by blinking. The video testimony was released today in Prince Georges County and the killer is now facing life in prison. Tracee wilkins spoke with a victims mother who says shes relieved justice has been served. Im just glad its over with. My son can rest in peace now. Reporter she leans on her sister for support as she tries to describe what it was like watching the video in court of her paralyzed, now deceased son, identifying his shooter by blinking. Instead it left him in this paralyzed state unable to speak for two years before he died. You . A Prince Georges County jury found hales guilty of killing pate yesterday. They can go see their son. I cant. Mine is at home in a box. Reporter hales is expected to life, plus 20 years. A bittersweet night for seniors at Walt Whitman High School in bethesda. One student will be missing from that graduation ceremony. He was killed with his parents in a crash on river road in february. His younger sister survived the accident. Tonight their uncle will accept tommys diploma and a certificate from the governor acknowledging that he would have graduated in the top 5 of High School Seniors statewide.
