This isnt even the reason were here. This has been going on for a couple of months, but if you look behind us here where those cones are you can see where theres a fresh patch, and that is the source of the problem. The problem that was discovered earlier this week, that was sort of found earlier today, but it had an adverse affect on rock creek. Reporter 1,200 gallons isnt a lot of water compared to all that flows through rock creek, but 1,200 gallons of raw sewage in rock creek is very serious. It was untreated. Compared to the spills that we sometimes have of combined sewage, which would be diluted with storm water. Reporter it start earlier this week. A problem with the sewer line that had been in place since 1885. Theres already major work going on in the area. Then came the blockage. They used pumps like this to bypass that blockage until it could be repaired. They finally got rid of whatever it was in the pipes going down the sidewalks that were some fluid was going through there on regular intervals, so its nice that thats gone, but that was raw sewage. Well, i was afraid of that. Reporter she probably shouldnt be doing that, but this is hard to keep people out of the creek down here. There are precautions they should take if they come into contact with rock creek water from the bridge done to the mouth of the creek near georgetown. Probably a good idea to wash it off. Right now Bob Mcdonnells attorneys are delivering their closing arguments. News 4s david culver is part of our trial Coverage Team and has the latest from richmond. Reporter the prosecution started off their closing arguments going right after Bob Mcdonnell, mockingly referring to him as mr. Transparency and mr. Honesty. In his more than twohour remarks the prosecutor told jurors this is fundamentally a simple case. The single, simple question is why . Why did Jonnie Williams give the gifts and loans . Why did Bob Mcdonnell take them . That is bribery. That is corruption. The real thing. Jurors have heard 24 days worth of testimony and evidence. Its a lot of information. The prosecution gave them the abridged version and simplified the timeline using a time slow on monitors to reference some of the evidence. Among that evidence the prosecution points to the Governors Mansion event that served to promote Jonnie Williams company. Host this event at the mansion was what mattered to Jonnie Williams, the prosecutor told jurors, and what mattered most of all was that the governor showed up. Jonnie williams was on cloud 9. This was exactly what he wanted. This was exactly what he was paying for. After lunch maureens lawyers made it clear even if maureen did agree to promote Williams Company in exchange for loans and gifts, she would be guilty of no crime. That is because maureen was a volunteer. Nothing more. Emphasizing she was not a public official. Just married to one. Then the defense attacked the testimony of the man at the center of this case, Jonnie Williams, telling the jurors a case built on the word of Jonnie Williams is the very definition of reasonable doubt. Right now Bob Mcdonnells attorneys are in their closing arguments. My bureau chief julie carey will join you ahead at 5 00 with some of the highlights. Shes also going to tell you why prosecutors labelled the former governor a liar. In richmond, virginia, im david culver, news 4. David, thank you. New reaction to a Major International development. Today britain raised its Terror Threat level from substantial to severe based on the International Threat posed by isis. Prime minister David Cameron delivered a warning about the danger isis poses to the u. K. And europe. The brutal execution of james foley, american, proves that isis is no longer a distant threat, given that the apparent executioner is a british citizen. It was clear evidence, not that any more was needed, that this is not some foreign conflict thousands of miles from home that we can hope to ignore. The Prime Minister says at least 500 british nationals have left the u. K. To fight with isis. Roughly half of those jihadists may already be back on british soil now. He warned that if isis succeeds in establishing extremist islamic states, there could be, in his words, a terrorist state on the shores of the mediterranean.
