Later it will be making its way through eastern over eastern parts of cuba, then on to the southeastern bahamas with its track to the north, and again, very close to the coast in that time period for the early part of next week. Heres what we know for today. What were going to be seeing, this storm sandy, hurricane getting very close to the east coast for the end of the week and early part of next week. Could be a destructive storm system for some. Ill give you more details on what i think well get around here. Today, of course, it was a warm one with our temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s. 82 degrees right now in manassas. Near record warmth today. Ill have more details on sandy, its track all the way up the coast and what we could see around here monday and tuesday of next week. This blaze broke out about 3 00 in the 8400 block of sullenberger court. As you can see in the live picture, flames destroyed the roof of the house. The blaze was brought under control in less than half an hour. No word on what caused this fire. Residents were not home at the time. Singer bobby brown has been arrested again on suspicion of drunk driving for the second time this year. They pulled him over this morning in los angeles. He was booked and released on 25,000 bail. Brown pleaded no contest to dui earlier this year. Brown was married to whitney houston, who died in february from an accidental drowning. Turning now to the weather. Veronica is here with the latest word about our weather and Hurricane Sandy. Right. Hurricane sandy as we look toward the weekend and next week, this could be a very big storm system for parts of the east coast. Right now we know today, its been pounding areas of jamaica. Theres certainty on what it will do for cuba and southeastern bahamas, then on beyond that, chances are pretty high, about 60 , 70 chance that part of the east coast will be impacted with rain and wind. Lets talk about what we know right now as we head over to the weather wall. As far as the confidence on sandys track, here we go. Right near the coast, the confidence is up on that track, with a lot of the computer models now coming on board and taking it in that direction, or many of them. Major problems for the east coast. And again, a destructive storm, this system could be for some with some heavy rain and possible flooding. Out there right now today, weve got 79 degrees. We got rid of the clouds and even the morning sprinkles, 79 degrees. Plenty warm with some locations just down to the south getting into the low and mid80s, from warrenton, Prince William county, fredericksburg, and culpepper, 81 to 85 degrees. We could easily tie the record High Temperature for today. So in the short term, again, weve got areas of clearing skies, High Pressure moves in, and dont have to go too far to notice this. Again, the outer most edge of what is sandy, as a hurricane right now. The clouds hitting areas around key west and miami. You can see the spin there as it comes right over jamaica. So its on to areas of cuba, and then the bahamas, with that track as a hurricane, going right to the east of florida. Very close to florida. Again, a lot of the guidance taking the storm system more and more toward the outer banks of north carolina, toward areas of delaware, and even coastal new jersey. So it could weaken as it makes its way through the bahamas. Then it will have chance to strengthen again. This could be a very strong storm wa high impact of wind and rain on sunday for areas through north carolina, southeastern areas of virginia, areas around norfolk and virginia beach. And then on toward rehoboth and ocean city on sunday, with rain and wind. Saturday, were okay. But then on monday, monday it looks like the day when we could be impacted the highest. Monday and early tuesday, with rain and wind. We could be looking at winds as the storm system makes its way northward about 60 Miles Per Hour for several hours on monday. Were talking a lot of rain, too, with a slowmoving system. Coastal areas get hit the hardest with coastal flooding, heavy rain. And that means power outages, too, possible with that sustained wind. Here we go in our forecast for the evening. A few clouds. Were very warm. 73 to 78 degrees. By tomorrow morning, were mostly clear. Another warm start for us at 50 to 60 degrees with a light wind. Then tomorrow afternoon, still warm at 71 to 76 degrees. Heres a look at the fourday forecast. Warm 71 to 75. Dry, too, for thursday and friday. Saturday, upper 60s. Again, with no impact here. It will start to turn a little breezy. Much cooler conditions with rain, i know the Marine Corps Marathon is taking place on sunday. Well talk about sunday and early next week coming up. The sixth casino in the state of maryland wont be coming to Prince Georges County slated for the national harbor. Some of the largest churches in this country reside in Prince Georges County. And those religious leaders know the clout they carry. What were also seeing which is really interesting is a split between Church Leaders and civil rights groups. Youve seen julian bond, the face of the naacp speaking out in support of samesex marriage, while religious leaders say this is a moral issue, and they cant side with the civil rights group. You know civil rights the Civil Rights Movement was borne out of the black church. So this is a huge deal in the county. Weve seen the ads here. I was up in baltimore over the weekend. Ministers taking to the airwaves over those issues there, too. Your station has a big town hall coming up. Absolutely. Weve got to talk about this in a big way because people are so confused with the messages coming out. A man has been sentenced now for leading police on a highspeed chase down a philadelphia runway. A passenger jet had to abort its landing back in march when kenneth mozak crashed through a gate and led police down the runway more than 100 miles an hour. Today a judge ordered him to serve 16 months in prison and pay 92,000 in restitution. Two new jersey towns are imposing curfews for trick or treaters this halloween. North of new york city are requiring anyone under 18 to be accompanied by a parent after 8 00 at night. Down south, all the way south, down across the sunshine state, you can see just a few showers. Even a few thunderstorms just east of miami right now. Some storms already coming across cuba. Again, these are some of the outermost rain bands of Hurricane Sandy which is a category 1 storm right now. Off to jamaica, and areas of eastern cuba, right into the southeastern bahamas. The other thing that we know for sure is the next two days are going to be pretty nice around here. Were not going to get up to 80, or 80plus degrees, but its still going to be plenty nice. For tomorrow, mostly sunshine across the area. And well be getting into the low and mid70s. Then on friday, there will be a few clouds coming back into the area. It will be a partly sunny day for us on friday. Now, on saturday were going to see clouds increase. Its going to be a partly sunny to mostly cloudy day on saturday. There will be some showers coming into the area with a cold front. This is a complex storm system, not just sandy paralleling the coast, but its also another system coming in from the west. And thats why our thinking is that areas north across new england could be hit the hardest with a lot of rain and especially some wind as these storm systems may try to fade. Looks as though theres a potential of high impact, 80 chance of wind and rain around here with a low impact. 20 chance well just have light wind and no rain at all. So count on at least something right now. By the time we get into monday, some 60mileperhour winds possible throughout much of the midatlantic area right up into pennsylvania.
