Temperatures get down thats why we have the winter storm warning in effect. Again, thats in effect through 2 00 tomorrow. D. C. And areas to the west, Winter Weather advisories for fredericksburg. This is why. Weve got the snow around the entire area. But down to the south were already seeing around fredericksburg and indian head. Already seeing sleet out there. That sleet piling up. You can see more sleet in areas where you have the sleet now than you do snow. In and around the d. C. Metro area, seeing heavier snow coming in through prince georges county, through the woodbridge area and downtown as well. Well continue to watch that. All of this making its way in as our storm system continues to develop. Notice that rain snow line across parts of our area. Out there right now, weve seen snow on the grass. You were talking about the snow and doug was talking earlier. He went outside. It is a very wet snow. The roads are going to be wet to areas south and east and in the d. C. Area. Side streets, especially by mid tomorrow morning. I think the main streets will be okay. Just to the south and east well see the rain and a little bit of the mix. North and west, where we could have the major totals, thats where were going to see major delays on all roadways. Side streets, secondary roads and well watch how it transition. Remember, this is going to be a very wet snow. A back breaker as you try to shovel it tomorrow. Good snowball making snow. Metro Access Service has canceled all day and Metrobus Service starting on a Severe Snow Service plan, only collective routes along the selective routes on the roads. One thing you notice here, a lot of snow areawide and notice the purples, the darker purples. That is actually heavier snow that continues to fall. Want to show you the leesburg area and frederickburg. The snow is getting with the roadways and around gaithersburg. Gotten reports out of alexandria of the roads getting covered there, at least the back roads. Heads up, the temperatures are below freezing in many areas. I watt to show you this. Yellow here, the bright banding, this is where sleet is trying to mix in. Couple of pictures in the fredericksburg area. Sleet accumulation has been happening. We may see more sleet in areas than snow from this. This is all part of the snow system coming to the. You can see it. Its starting to merge together now. The storm system to the west, one to the south. Theyre going to merge off the coast. I think were going to get enough warm air in here that we switch over from snow to possibly freezing rain and sleet over the next few hours. 28 inga gaithersburg. The roads are covered fairly quick. Monday, here we are, 11 00 on future weather. The rain snow line to the south. Look what happens at 1 00. The rain snow line into southern maryland. Around fredericksburg. Sleet in the d. C. Metro area. All snow back to the west. Look at the computer models. Theyre trying to bring the rain line into d. C. By 5 00. If this happens, its going to be very close, but if it happens, anything that falls tonight is quickly going to be melted or out of here. Now, if the temperatures are below freezing, we could have another scenario altogether. If its freezing rain, that shuts down everything. So thats one thing well be watching for sure. It does look like the snow will be back by tomorrow morning in parts of the area and see snow through parts of the day. Most of it should be on the lighter side by the afternoon before it all starts to get out of here around the 5 00, 6 00 hour. Heres our snow totals. Down to the south. Some snow and sleet. This will eventually change to rain. In and around quantico and wood totally, 1 to 3 inches with a mix. That includes the d. C. Metro area towards clinton and bowie. 3 to 6 inches from northwest d. C. Towards bethesda. Back to the west, this is the area were most confident about because the rain snow line not going to get there. 6 to 10 inches. 10 inches or more in frederick, places like that going to get more snow. Still a tough forecast through tomorrow. We expect many School Closings and we have them mostly north and west of d. C. Even on wednesday, in the areas with the higher amounts, we could see delays during the day wednesday too. Heads up there. The next couple of days, i want to focus one thing on wednesday. High temperature of 30. Look at the windchill early wednesday morning. How about 11 when you wake up. Single digit windchills and snow on the ground.
