The suspect in a standoff with police through the open door, and eventually he starts shooting. You can see detectives are right outside the front door of the home where that shooting went down this afternoon. Fairfax county police just put out a press release saying they are still trying to identify the suspect. Chopper 4 captured these exclusive images. The Fairfax County police s. W. A. T. Team tossing a flash bang into a home where a gunman was holding a man hostage. The suspect came out then went back inside. Police say when he came back outside, he was armed with a knife, was shot and killed. Less lethal forces both in the form of taser and a 40millimeter foam bullet. Reporter and a regular bullet . The deadly force was that from a firearm. Reporter police were first called to the home on covered wagon lane in herndon for a shooting. The suspect had allegedly shot two brothers in a heated dispute. The men drove themselves to the hospital. When police got to the home, the with the hostage. In the bathroom. We need to get him out. Reporter the suspect had allegedly set the house on fire and fired several shots. The hostage also got in touch with our 911 and said that he couldnt breathe. Reporter once police shot the suspect they rescued the hostage who was treated on scene for smoke inhalation. One neighbor shot this video on her cell phone. Oh, my god. Reporter you could hear shots and Police Telling the man to get down. Smoke was billowing from the home. Like a boom, boom. I dont know how many, but it was not it was not the police that were shooting. Something inside the house was happening. I dont know what was going on in there. Reporter many neighbors were scared. We just heard shots and we were like, oh, wow. That was very shocking to us. Reporter now, police are telling us theyre still trying to figure out the relationship between the gunman and those two okay. The hostage was okay as well, wasnt even hospitalized. Now, the officer who fired that deadly shot is on routine administrative leave. Were live in herndon, darcy spencer, news 4. New tonight, dozens of protesters rallying outside the Trump International hotel on pennsylvania avenue. This group started at 14th and t streets northwest then marched to the hotel. They carried signs that said, stop the trump regime before it starts. Officials in the district are getting ready for all of the protests that could happen on inauguration day. Some protest groups even practiced. D. C. s mt. Pleasant neighborhood today for what they hope will be disruptive tactics on friday. Fences and barriers are up on the National Mall to keep protrump and antitrump federal officials across our area are preparing for the inaugural with one purpose. Our job is to make sure that people can come here to their nations capital, be able to express their views in a safe, lawabiding way. On thursday bike lane barriers and traffic lights will be removed from pennsylvania avenue for the parade along with trash cans that could be misused. Reporter Turkish Police have caught the man they believe was responsible for the terrorist attack on new years eve that killed 39 people at a popular istanbul nightclub. They say this ma national, was captured outside of istanbul and he was staying with a friend of his and was detained along with a friend and other suspects. Police say theyve been monitoring him for the last four to five days but decided not to act then. They wanted to follow the suspect to see if he was in contact with other people and then around midnight local time they moved in. There was apparently no gunfight. And this was announced in a very dramatic fashion. All of the state sponsored televisions here in turkey immediately started broadcasting his photograph, a bruised face. He was held by police by the throat. Also video of the suspect being marched in something of a head lock through the streets. Police clearly want to show that theyre on top of this situation, that this militant is in custody, that Decisive Action was taken. It was a lot of criticism in this Country Police took so long to respond to the terrorist attack and why it has taken them so long to find this suspect. Hopefully hes going to be okay. A massive winter storm that swept across the middle of the country has killed at least five people. Yeah, it spawned at least one tornado in texas, and you can see here how the winds blew apart an entire patio in houston. This film started out west and dumped nearly 12 feet of snow on californias sierra mountains, then froze americas heartland, coating several states in a sheet of ice.
