And he says thats an attack that the park police arent ready for. Our staffing right now is lower than it was five years ago. The low Staffing Levels are impacting security at monuments here in the washington region as well as popular tourist sites across the country. Far fewer than other roads. U. S. Park Police Patrol the parkway from the d. C. Maryland Line route 175 and they regularly monitor state highway cameras and say a lack of cameras possibly slows their investigations into accidents including hit and runs. State Highway Administration officials tell us they are trying to post new cameras, at least six along the highway, for state administrators to monitor at several key interchanges. Police and youll be able to see them too, online likely summer or fall of 2016. State highway Officials Say theyve begun patrolling the road 24 7 to respond to incidents. New cameras cost about 775,000. Why is it taking so long to install them to add any cameras to state roads, require engineering studies, utility work under way, test of soil samples and theyll add 50foot posts. They have to make sure the posts arent a danger to cars. Scott mcfarland news 4 iteam. If you have a tip for the iteam call 2028854444 or email tips news4. Com.
