But this is off of the clipper system that continues to move in through the area. Overnight maybe another stray shower or two, but thats really about it. A water main break forces businesses to close their doors. Jackie bensen is in northwest washington where crews are still trying to identify the break. Were told that this repair is going to take much longer than expected because, as of right now, the crews cannot find the water main break. Despite some jackhammering and lots of man hole lifting, the source of the water main break eluded d. C. Water crews late into the evening. They painstakingly examined the 50plus yearold underground pipe system. Residents in the 1700 block including red light, cork wine bar had to shut down. They remained dark unable to operate without water. Were walking down the street looking for a place to go for a couple drink before a show and thins are closed. Chris lawrence here now to tell us more about this. It certainly got heated. Dozens of people debated whether the county should mandate this paid time off. The earned sick and safe leave bill would require Montgomery County businesses to ploy every employee with earned sick and safe leave so the workers or their family members could use it if they got sick or hurt or even victims of domestic violence. Everyone agreed it would be good for the employees, but some arent sure this particular bill is the way to go about it. What happens to an abused spouse who has no protection if she takes time off to get a restraping order . Even workers authorized to take time off will lose a day of pay which can throw a paycheck to paycheck situation into chaos. So much to think about. It would give employees one hour for every 30 days worked but government officials havent on it. Thanks chris. A man who once drove a cab in Northern Virginia has been added to the fbis most wanted terrorist list. That man is now being defended by members of his family. A lawyer for liban mohammeds brother says the terrorist allegations have no basis in fact. Mohammed is charged with providing support to al shabaab. He also has connections to convicted terrorist Zachary Chesser who is also from Northern Virginia. Last week flames burn a Christmas Tree and destroyed an annapolis mansion. Today Montgomery County fire officials show just how effective a Sprinkler System can be be. The one over the tree on the left defused the fire quickly. It helped save lives when this high rise caught fire in 2005. Prosecutors say he tried to hire somebody to kill his exwife, but she may not have been his only target. Dallas brumback is charged wit hiring a hit man, 5,000 to kill his exwife. He told him to kill anyone with his exwife at the time of the hit. Brumbacks ex lindsey took the stand today to urge a judge to keep brumback behind bars because shes felt threatened for years. She has felt that way since she left him. Always looking over her shoulder. Always wondering if the phone rings at night and somebody hangs up is that somebody trying to get information for him. Brumbacks current wife asked that he be released because he has a blood disorder but the judge denied his bond. A local rapper who goes by the name honest abe is going to prison. Abraham komari is his name lived in in silver spring. Last april people tried to stop a box truck he was driving but he took off. That chase ended a while later when he crashed the truck into a police car. Police found 74 grams of marijuana and a digital scale inside. There was a flooding accident on matthew mills road in mclean today. Its left a 6yearold child in a coma. Police say the boy and his friends were sledding down a neighbors driveway when he was hit by a car. The driver stopped and helped give first aid until emergency crews arrived and flew the boy to fairfax hospital. A family friend told the reporter that the little boys skull was fractured and he had some swelling to his brain. Police say no charges will be filed against the driver of the car. There is a plan in Northern Virginia to try to control the area deer population without killing a lot of the deer. Wildlife officials are tranquilizing and then sterilizing the does. Shomari stone got up close and personal with that process. I think this is a great project. Reporter jeff newman is a veterinarian in Northern Virginia. Tonight hes operating on deer in this makeshift surgical clinic inside the city of Fairfax Police department. He teamed up with wildlife experts and police to manage the deer population. Its a big enough problem. I think that unfortunately, a lot of deer get hit by cars and so there are, you know Health Concerns for people. Reporter instead of using sharpshooters to kill the deer the city of fairfax hired darters. They shoot the deer with a tranquilizer. Inside theres an anesthetic and a sedative. Once it shoots inside the deers buttocks it falls asleep. Then theyre trped in here and then we start doing what we do. Reporter they remove the does ovaries so she cant reproduce. After the surgery is o finished they put a tracking collar around her neck after surgery and recovery. First off we want to make sure theyre okay three days after the surgery. Reporter their goal is to capture 15 year like this one over the next four days. Theyre above schedule. This one is the 13th. Police are so flooded with investigations in which they want to check smartphones either belonging to the crooks or the victims, the city just opened a new digitalic forensic labs. And checking Text Messages on the phones and the locations and times in which those messages were sent. Even cracking pass codes. They might stop us for a little while or well figure out a way or somebody will figure out a way. The city recently hired a team of forensic phone specialists to work here and theyll soon hire more. Theyre not the only ones increasingly turning to cell phones. There have been at least 245 forensics reviews of portable Electronic Devices by Virginia State police in just the past two years. 188 more by Maryland State Police. Inside the Maryland State Police lab which is secured by a special code and card access smartphones and tablets are a priority. Technology is always changing. But for a specific type of crime. We look at every bit of information. Crimes against children child sex abuse and child pornography cases. Some phones are capable of Holding Thousands of images or videos. Very easy to see just how much content these mobile devices can store wee found 44 of the phones drives and tablets examined in examinations in the past year were part of a child porn or child sex abuse case. They are no longer confined to maybe being within their house to perpetrate these crimes. As for jody shes not sure if handing over her phone to the robbie saved her life. You just dont know what hes capable of. But she knows the phone helped cops crack the case. I felt so relieved i got out of it okay.
