First at 11 00, a grew some discovery outside an apartment complex in maryland. Police find a mans body stuffed in not one, but two bags. They havent said who it is, but tour boat operators saw the car sinking into the water and the silhouette of someone inside. Divers got there quickly, but it was too late. This happened close to the d. C. virginia line. The closest road is the g. W. Parkway, but theres a bike path and a row of trees between that road and the river. Police are trying to figure out what caused a crash in jer map town that killed a biker and sent someone else to the hospital. Teams have been reconstructing the crash all evening. We know another vehicle overturned and someone inside had to go to the hospital, but theres no word yet about how it happened or the name of the person on that motorcycle. Also new at 11 00, some incredible video of what could have been a rannic accident. Beverly simmons came home tonight to find part of an airplane had crashed through her ceiling. A piece of the plane landed right in her dining room and left pieces of try wall and insulation all over the place. It turns out, beverlys usually at home with her family on sunday nights. Tonight she was at a church retreat. I was, i was in absolute shock that this happened, but i just said thank god i wasnt here. You know, thank god we wasnt at home. She doesnt know if the piece came off a plane from a nearby local airport or bwi marshal, but the faa is coming to her house to investigate. A lot of local families got stuck in this mess earlier, a crash on the west side of the bay bridge backed up traffic and just as hundreds of families were coming home from the beach. The crash blocked several lanes of traffic but tonight things are back to normal. The first day of School Tomorrow will be a somber one after a student from our area died today. He was supposed to start class in baltimore. He died two weeks after he practiced and collapsed on the football field. We are watching developments out of napa valley after it was hit by a 6. 0 magnitude earthquake. Right now, the concern is about aftershocks. And those could continue for several weeks. The quake hit while most people were sleeping and sent dozens of people to the hospital, mostly with cuts and bruises from things falling on them. Gas lines ruptured, igniting pires that destroyed homes. And some roads leading to napas famous wineries have been damaged. Ive got to imagine there is a lot of cleaning up to do out there. Downtown napa, and these buildings are so old they have to assess what can be saved before they start even going in there to try to fix it. Contents of Grocery Store shelves fell on floors instead of people. Panic was contained mostly inside of homes and not on the streets or freeways. Ive been a lifetime resident of california, and it was a serious rocker. Reporter about 200 were treated at hospitals, mostly cuts and bruises. Very early we had a big wave of people with bumps and bruises and lacerations. They were related to folks getting out of bed and walking on things that had broken at night.
