You can see it obscures a drivers line of sight when theyre pulling out on to the main roads. I can also tell you many, many residential streets remain unplowed this hour. Even the most snow worthy suv couldnt handle the unplowed intersection at the corner of old georgetown road and bethesda. Worsened after it started snowing again this evening. After shoveling the heavy, soggy snow, this driver, a physician who had to go to work today, was finally on his way home. I ended up dropping off at the store to pick up flowers for my wife. I didnt want to forget about valentines day. Go, go, go reporter moments later, another suv got stuck in the same spot. The main roads are fine. These roads are a joke. Reporter after a friend did some shoveling, this driver was also able to clear the mounded snow. Removing the snowbanks that are now encroaching on to the lanes at even major roads like route 355 in gaithersburg will be the key to a successful friday morning rush hour. The main street got things going, a pretty good job, except for right here. Doing a pretty good job, really. City Officials Say they tow in order than 200 cars during the emergency status, and more than 600 very expensive tickets were written. Because of the tricky conditions on the road, metro has canceled all bus service until 5 00 tomorrow morning. After that, metro will have limited service on major roads, much like todays schedule. Some of those routes will have detours among them. Metrorail operating on a normal schedule tomorrow. The airports arent much better. Both national and dulles were shut down today. Hundreds of flights were grounded. Some travelers camped out in the airports. But tomorrow, 100 flights already have been canceled locally. This the scene just hours ago. This morning a dump truck hit and killed a man who was doing contract work for vdot in loudoun county. He was hit along Belmont Ridge road. In the district, police found a mans body buried under some snow a few blocks from the Anacostia Metro system along Shannon Place southeast there is no word on how he died. And Howard County is reporting three deaths tonight linked to snow shoveling. A 57yearold man from woodstock and a 55yearold man from columbia, both had to be rushed to the hospital after shoveling. They both died. A 45yearold man from columbia also collapsed and died outside. Officials say its not yet clear if he had also been shoveling snow. Take a look at conditions all over the country now. Reporter this has been a historymaking snowstorm in parts of the northeast, with nearly 100 Million People in its path across 14 states, and at least 21 deaths blamed on the weather tonight. Most of them on the road. 6,000 flights grounded today nationwide, and another 900 nationwide are canceled already for tomorrow. Lets take a look at some of the hardest hit areas. This marks the first winter that philadelphia has ever seen four snowstorms that each left more than 6 inches on the ground. At new york city saw nearly 10 inches. But the schools were not canceled, prompting some backlash against mayor bill de blasio. De blasio defended himself. He said parents depend on the schools in new york to watch over their children while they are at work. Down south, some roads in north carolina, they are still packed with abandoned cars. We told you this would be about a 24hour storm. Things really starting to go down hill about 11 00 last night. And they have now ended at about 11 00. Take a look outside right now. First off, this was actually our storm team 4. It was out and about all day. These were the streets of mclean. We did see a lot of accidents all across the area. The beltway was closed many times today, including many accidents that happened both early this afternoon and then again this evening. Here is why. Take a look at the radar, and well set it back 24 hours. This is what we saw 24 hours ago. All of this snow. And in about six to eight hours, we saw a foot, some areas picking up 18 inches of snow. Incredible snowfall totals. We saw a break, a little bit of a lull, and then saw the next round come in. What are we seeing right now . The next round has moved out of the entire region. Still a few snow flurries out there. For the most part, yes done with the storm. The snow making its way out towards the Eastern Shore with this band. Even brought 2 to 4 inches of snow. As we were talking earlier this evening. And everything that was plowed and shovelled just got snow right on top of it once again. Something else were dealing with, the wind. Were at 38 degrees right now. But look at the winds. Gusting upwards of 30 miles per hour. Those winds are going to continue to gust tonight. Well see windchills down into the teens. Temperatures above freezing right now. So were not seeing that ice just yet. 38 degrees in washington. 34 in huntingdon. 34 in gaithersburg. So what has fallen still is trying to melt a little bit. But the temperatures will fall. By early tomorrow morning, well be in the 20s. Well will see the refreeze overnight. Slick and icy roads for sure. Use caution early tomorrow morning. I probably dont have to tell you that. But windchills tomorrow in the teens. And they will be quite cold, 15 to 20 degrees when you wake up and step out the door tomorrow morning. Now future weather. Talking about chilly conditions. But at least well see some sunshine tomorrow. And really, tomorrow is a pretty nice day. Some sun will help to melt even more of that snow. And then watch what happens built. Tomorrow night, we start to see some more moisture move. In it may start off as a little bit of a mix early. But then it turns to snow. And this is by early saturday morning. Look at the snow. Back towards winchester, royal, leesburg, washington. Mainly rain down towards the south. But it may end us some snow. This isnt going to be a lot. And it will be auick moving system. Even around noon, were still seeing the snow. On saturday morning. 39 degrees for a High Temperature tomorrow. Early snow on saturday, 36. Lets talk about this a little bit more. How much can we see . I do expect to see upwards of maybe 1 to 2 inches depending on where the storm goes. We may get a little more than that. Thats something were going to watch out for. The light snow early. Most of it will be light. Maybe 1 to 2. Some areas just a little bit more.
