morning. >> hi, barbara. an interesting day here today. markets up across the board. the dow is up about 17 points right now. not a giant rally. a continuation of this rebound we have seen. interestingly, the nasdaq has been up for seven consecutive days for a 7% tally. it is the biggest and best streak we have seen in 11 months for the nasdaq index. also of note, no economic data to chomp our teeth into and no real earnings reports to give us guidance as well is the fact that gold has punched higher again to a new record high, just shy of $1260 per ounce. that is certainly something we are tracking here today and speaks volumes about the nervousness that is out there and the global economic situation. also of note on the auto front today, ford has done something it has never done something before. detroit, for that matter, has managed to get themselves into the top of the j.d. power associates annual quality survey of new cars. they have ranked themselves number five at ford and also of note is toyota, the perennial leader, actually slumped from six down to 21st. separately in auto news, maybe bad news for the gm workers but speaks volumes about the demand for general motors products. their factories in the u.s. will stay open this summer to keep up with demand. typically, they shut down, barbara, for about two weeks and take that summer break, retool, repeating the same patterns in your life, especially in your love life? could those mistakes have to do with your relationship with your parents? these are questions answernd a new book called "let love in, open your heart and mind to attract your ideal partner." the author of that book, debra, joins us this morning. this is very interesting some of your ideas. you say that your romantic relationships typically mirror those of your parents. >> tell us about that. between your parents, or your relationship with your parents? >> actually both. you learn everything about relationships from your childhood, hour your parents relate to each other and how you relate to the opposite sex parent typically. what i found in myself was that if the father was emotionally unavailable or not around, the woman tends to in adult life attract men that are not around or don't want to commit or are emotionally unavailable. >> you would think it would be the opposite. if there dad was not around, they would want to find somebody there. >> on a conscious level, they want someone different but subconsciously, that subconscious mind is so powerful that it leads them back to the same relationship over and over again. why do i keep falling for this guy? he seems so good to begin with. he doesn't want a commitment. underneath, she was attracted to him. there could be 100 men in the room and the one guy that doesn't want to commit, that would be the one she was attracted to. >> does this work the same way with men as they are looking for women. >> absolutely. a lot of men, sometimes their mothers are overbearing. so they will attract women that are the boss of the house. then, some men actually. >> do they need that? >> it depends on the man. then there is a conflict on what they need on a conscious level than what they are drawn to. what my book does is help people identify what their pattern is an change it to what they want to be and have a different experience in love. >> you say that particularly with father's day coming up, that women can sort of rectify some of their problems with their dads to improve their relationships with their boyfriends or husbands or whatever. >> i thought my dad was emotionally distant as well. it was me holding back as well. having that relationship with him. so i actually moved out of my comfort zone and talked to him. i was hope and had an open conversation. two months later, i met my true love. because i broke that pattern of thinking he is different. it's really not who our father is but who we think he is. by being closer to him on father's day, you can get to know him in a different way and the relationship with men that you have in your life will change. >> so your subconscious then tells you that you want somebody exactly like your parents? >> it draws you to what's familiar. it likes what is familiar. so if you are not used to getting a lot of love and affection from a man, your subconscious will pull away and feel not attracted to men that do that, because it is not familiar. it does not make any logical sense but the subconscious isn't logical. that's why it is really hard. a lot of people can't figure out why they keep making the same mistakes. they read self-help books. mine is different. i tell them how to change it on a deep level. their whole relationship changes and they attract someone amazing. >> a lot of parents are going to be surprised if their kids say, i want to fix my relationship with you. maybe they didn't realize they were doing anything to affect their children's future relationship with spouses. >> a lot of people don't talk to their parents about really important things. they tend to have the same conversations over and over again. push the envelope a little this father's day. ask your dad something else. ask him about his first date with your mom and really get to see a different side of him. it may change the way you think about him on the inside and those on the outside. >> thank you for bringing along this book "let love in." we will see if we can open our hearts and minds to tract ideal partners. >> or improve the one you have. 11:51 is our time.
