This map here shows the areas where crews found the issues and most of them through the downtown corridor along the blue and orange and silver lines. Many of those areas needed repairs to boost the connector jumper cables to the third rail. This is one that is not damaged. But at foggy bottom, square and potomac avenue, metro found what it calls showstoppers, were talking about frayed jumper cables. Here is an example of exactly what were talking about. You can see the frayed cable here. And those cables were exposed to the elements and thats why that looks like that. Metro says if the cables had been found in that condition on a normal kay, they would immediately shut down the entire station. These are the same conditionska immediately shut down the entire station. These are the same conditions found after the fire on monday and very similar to what was found after the deadly smoke incident at Lenfant Plaza about a year ago.
