A change for the search for the missing airliner. The search shifted to the northeast after new analysis from the radar data. Ian, will the sift makes the search any easier . Good morning, betty. This is a radical change. In theory, at least, it should make it easier to search. Australian officials pointing out that the new search area is 500 miles closer to western australia. So thats a shorter flying time. They also point out that the weather tends to be a little bit better in this area. Other experts point out that there is more trash in this area than further south. And that the ocean here is still very deep. Up to some 130,000 feet. Now, we had appeared to be honing in on an area in the southern part of the indian ocean. But, it seems, that those satellite leads, those multiple sightings of something turned out to be false leads. And had nothing to do with the aircraft. So, were now, in many ways, back at square one. Some ten air craft went out to the area. We have no information of yet on leads. A fleet of vessels are being diverted but wont be in the new area until late saturday. The search continues. Reporter it has to do with the differences in the South African justice system. This trial and high court is a judge trial, not a jury trial. The judge is assisted by two assessors, other lawyers who help assess the evidence. The judge announced as soon as court opened there would be a postponement, one of the assessors was not well. She asked for a delay. The prosecution and defense agreed to it opinion pistorius said in the only affidavit he made on the case that he thought he was firing at an intruder. The prosecution say there wud an argument before the shots were fired. Pistorius remains innocent until proven guilty. The defense now the start april 7th. Betty . All right, mike. Thank you. New developments now in the search for missing 8yearold relisha rudd. Investigators will be back out at daybreak running a fine tooth comb over kennel worth park in northwest d. C. Police spent all day there yesterday but came up emptyhanded. They think relisha may be in the park after learning that her alleged abductor, khalil tatum, spent time there and bought large trash bags. Megan mcgrath is live with the latest on the search. Reporter aaron, if you look behind me, you see the officer that has the entrance to the park blocked. All of the entrances are blocked along anacostia avenue. Police is been here all night keeping an eye on thing. They spent the entire day yesterday searching the kenilworth aquatic garden and park and are going to return again this morning when the sun comes up. For the first time, weve heard po t rs as a recovery operation. Police chief lanier says she hopes that 8yearold relisha rudd is found alive but says they cant ignore the possibility that khalil tatum killed the little girl and disposed of her body here in the park. Thats because police have uncovered some very disturbing evidence. On march 1st, thats the last time that relisha was seen alive and was seen with tatum, on march 2nd, the next day, police say tatum bought contractorsize trash bags. He also bought a shovel and lime which can speed up the decomposition of bodies. Police also have evidence that tatum spent time at the Kenilworth Park in northeast on march 2nd. Police say that they are going to be searching this entire area. That is no small task. Were talking about an area of 700 acres. Much of it is wooded. Other sections run across the anacostia river.
