Zone. A special edition of Good Morning America starts now. Present and all accounted for. Good morning, america. Millions across the northeast in the path of that blizzard this morning. Heres a live look at the new jersey turnpike. A dangerous commute. Up and down the east coast. Lets look at washington right now. A look at the white house. Snow coming down in washington, of course, the white house right in the middle of the battle over health care and that new report that says 24 million americans will lose coverage under President Trumps plan. More on that ahead. The latest on the storm, six states across the northeast are states of emergency. More than 5,000 flights have been canceled. So far were seeing winds topping 50 miles an hour. Keep in mind, gentlemen, we are just six days away from spring. That makes the storm seem not so bad. A live look from inside the storm. Our drone is flowing over new jersey right now getting that great view of all the snowfall and if you have to be in that, just enjoy this,s th that shoul the picture you see. Team coverage and ginger zee starts us off in times square. Good morning, ginger. Hey, good morning, guys. I dont know if you can hear that, that is sleet mixing into our snow in new york city which i think we have about 3, 4 inches. It is heavy, it is wet and ive seen reports up to 4 and even 5 inches just north and west. North and west is going to be key of the let me take you trait into the warnings, first, freeze warnings in the south but its blizzard warnings that have been extended to scranton, pennsylvania, through the hudson valley. Western massachusetts and connecticut. Thats where we believe the heaviest snow totals will eventually fall. Why . Well, lets look at this. The radar happening right now, snow you sigh in new york city but that wintry mix has overtaken philadelphia, washington, d. C. Had a mix over and rain and mist at times, so the closer you are to the coast, the lower your snow totals. Thats how its been positioned. Just a couple of miles makes a huge difference, 12 to 24 region. Anywhere with elevation will see some numbers top even two feet into parts of new england and i wanted to quickly say, the most important part on top of the snow and the rain and the ice is the wind. Gusts of 50 to 68 in new haven, 51 in boston. Visibility low and difficult day. To rob marciano who right now is in philadelphia. Weve been ticketing this morning. I know you have sleet earlier. What do you have now, rob . Its still going on, ginger, turning to sleet just a few hours ago and its become quite painful. Thats Independence Hall. The roads about three to four inches of snow. A little slushy thankfully because they pretreated. Obviously right on the rain snow line with temperature at the freezing mark. This is a complicated massive system, already slammed the midwest and now it is turning into a messy monster of a storm for the northeast. This morning, the strengthening blizzard beating down on the northeast from pennsylvania to maine. A treacherous morning commute. Whiteout conditions turning major highways like i95 into slip and slides. That was almost a wipeout. Reporter in brooklyn a car spinning out into a guardrail. Im very worried. It is bad. Reporter snowplows scrambling to keep up. Its nasty out here. Reporter the white stuff falling faster than the salt can be spread. Should be a very serious blizzard. One that everyone should take seriously. Reporter new york city bracing for 10 to 15 inches, transformed 2,000 garbage trucks into snowplows struggling to keep the 6,000 miles of streets clear. Governors declaring states of emergency in new york. Maryland, new jersey and connecticut. Every report weve had on it it will snow hard and fast for a long period of time and it will create whiteout conditions. Reporter the coastline could see wind gusts over 60 Miles Per Hour later today. And were certainly feeling those winds pick up here in philadelphia where a snow emergency is in place and we do have mass transit thats running albeit slowly but basically what the emergency says you have to get your cars off the road or theyll be towed because they want the plows to try to keep the roads clear. Our affiliate showing us some footage of the roads here in philadelphia mentioned most are pretty slushy but this sleet is going to turn back over to snow later on today and see more in the way of accumulation. 400 pieces of snow removal equipment here in this city. Another 200 at the airport where most of the airlines have halted operations for the day. The record snow for march for a day here in philly by the way 11. 7. Just a few miles north in the suburbs a foot easily, maybe two is possible. Michael, back off to you. All right, thank you, rob. All right, stay safe there, rob. Take a look now at this image from nasa showing the storm moving into the east. People being urged to stay off the roads as weve been telling you. A less unless its absolutely necessary and eva pilgrim is on the new jersey turnpike. How are things looking right now . Reporter good morning, robin. It is a slippery mess out here on the roads. We started driving about 5 30 in morning. And they were just lightly covered but its steadily continued to fall and you can see now were actually behind a plow train as they are clearing the turnpike and the roads are still a mess. Completely covered. You can barely see the lines on the road. And this is the good part because were behind the newly cleared area. A lot of issues with visibility. And theres a lot of slush on the road you need to deal with. As we get bursts of snow it makes it harder to see and the exit and entrance ramps particularly are very slippery. Now, thankfully as you can see theres very little traffic outside of the plow trucks out here this morning. Normally at this hour heading on the new jersey turnpike into new york city we would be sitting in nearly bumpertobumper traffic. Today its nearly a ghost town. Just one or two cars out here with us this morning. Guys. Good to see theres light traffic out there. Everyone as we were saying encouraged to stay home but if you have to venture out, eva, what are drivers being told . Reporter well, local officials have told drivers to please stay home if at all possible. But if you have to venture out, some basic things to keep in mind, things that seem like common sense but we just need to be reminded of them on days like today. Leave a little bit of extra room between you and the car in front of you so you have extra space to stop if you need to. Also, drive a little bit slower. That way you have a little bit more time to react to the slippery roads. We are seeing them be pretty slippery this morning and, again, if you cant avoid it stay off the roads. Absolutely. Eva, thank you. Great tips right there. Crews across the northeast are using an army of snowplows and salt trucks to keep the roads clear and Adrienne Bankert is in waterbury, connecticut, with more. Good morning to you, adrienne. Reporter good morning to you, michael. Yes, plows just like this one are out in force here in connecticut. Were here with ruben, a private plow driver. Really plows are going to be the only vehicles that people see out here on the roads today because of a statewide travel ban. So if its not in the Central Service like first responders, nurses, people are being asked to stay home, in fact, no trains, no buses and all state roads will be closed until further notice. The Connecticut Department of transportation is telling us that they are deploying over 600 plows. They have 250 contracted plows as well as some big snowblowers and tractors trying to keep that snow off the road. This mammoth response is costing 95,000 per hour. So for a 12hour shift thats over a million dollars. Theyre going to be covering over 46,000 miles of both state highways and in town roadways trying to keep everybody safe. Michael. All right, thank you, adrienne. You be safe yourself. Officials at work planning for the storm. President trump tweeting out this photo last night meeting with the d. C. Mayor and metro general manager to go over storm preparations. And new yorks Governor Andrew Cuomo joins us now live with more on the snow emergency. I know its a hectic morning. Thank you so much for joining us. We know that you issued a statewide state of emergency at midnight. How are you assessing the situation right now, governor . Reporter whats problematic for us is that it is a statewide situation. Normally in new york its such a big state geographically its one end of the state or another. It tends to be long island on the eastern side. New york city or buffalo and western new york. This is statewide. So, we cant really deploy from one part of the state to the other. 4,000 state personnel out there, booing hard trying to clear the roads and keep everybody safe as weve been telling people to stay at home and im sure you echo that as well if they can. Well, weve learned the hard way, weve had our share of extreme weather over the past few years, so we have staffed up the emergency operation. We have a lot more equipment. We have about 5,000 plows that are out there now. We did get ahead of it, which is basically the trick. Getting people off the roads, and really theres no reason to be on the roads. The airports are basically closed. Laguardia and jfk over 90 of the flights are canceled. Government is closed, the office, schools are closed. So, its just theres no reason to be on the road. It is extraordinarily dangerous and when people go on the roads that then compounds the problem because now the plows cant do their work, et cetera. The subway system we have operating, the underground subway system, were going to close the metro north, which is the railroad that goes north which is from new york city which is where we have a greater snowfall and well be announcing the tractor trailer ban at about 9 00 this morning. But for the most part, so far so good. This storm moved west a little bit so its more of an issue for us in upstate new york, the binghamton area, central new york. As you said weve been down this road before, that bad blizzard last january, the big blizzard where you had an entire travel ban but thats not the case now. Youre saying that the subways are open for the time being. Most of them. Subways are open. Above ground trains we have suspended. Bus service is working. We plan on suspending bus Service Later this morning if this rate of snowfall continues. Theres a rate of snowfall that you cant keep up with. When the rate of snowfall is about 3 inches per hour, you just cant keep up with it. You have a complicating factor in this storm with the high winds, so you ajust as you go through the day. Yeah, there are a lot of factors at play there, governor cuomo, thank you very much. I know its a busy morning for you. Appreciate your time, sir. Take care. Good to be with you. Thanks. Thanks. We heard the governor say the new york airports are closed creating a lot of problems for the midwest as well. Airlines racing to deice planes and canceled thousands of flights and david kerley is at Reagan National airport with the details. Good morning. Reporter good morning, george. Not just new york, it is a near shutdown of flights all up and down and here is the story. Look at this. Canceled here in washington and look over this shoulder, this is a ghost town. The airlines moved jets out of the northeast airports waiting for the storm to blow through. Take a look at this. Pictures we took here in washington just a little while ago. You can see the gates are empty but the snowplows are out and they are working this morning trying to stay ahead of that snow so that when it stops, the jets can fly back in. Already, more than 5400 flights have been canceled with the major airlines, american, southwest and united canceling all of their flights in and out of new york city. Now, this morning the storm is hitting washington, baltimore and philly as you saw from ginger moving harder into new york and boston, only a couple of flights expected out of the boston area later today and its not just in the northeast, this misery map from flight aware shows it from yesterday which we will see again today and thats when you cancel the flights in the east coast, the domino effect will affect the west coast, l. A. , new york, elsewhere, as well. And dont forget about the rail lines. Is sell la has been canceled between new york and boston and service between washington, d. C. Modified as well. Any sense of how long it will take to get back to normal . Reporter theyre waiting for the snow to end and thats where theyre keeping everything cleaned and bring the aircraft in as quickly as possible through tomorrow probably into thursday, george. Okay, david, thanks very much. My flight was canceled today. Hoping to get out tomorrow going to the special olympic games. Fingers crossed. Crossing east coast thousands of schools are closed or delayed. Wabcs Kristin Thorne is on long island. She has much more for us on that side of the story. Good morning, kristin. Reporter its been pounding our area for the last several hours and officials are not taking any chances with this storm so we are beginning to see a lot of School Closures and delays. Take a look at this. 3,000 schools across 9 states now affected by the storm from maryland to maine. Here in Nassau County on long island were about 30 miles east of new york city. I can show you the Road Conditions were seeing here. We did not see the accumulation and are not seeing the accumulation that was originally expected but still slick conditions going on here and the story for long island is going to be the high winds. Robin. Those winds thats right, thank you. More on the threat to coastal communities from delaware up to massachusetts. High tides could be two to flee feet higher than normal and gio benitez is covering that in situacituate, massachusetts. We are on the edge of the storm just beginning to feel those winds, in fact, measuring some 15 to 20mileperhour winds already but the concern is over the next few hours because this afternoon specifically this afternoon were going to get high tide. If the timing is right and we see the high tide at the same time as those strong northeasterly wins, that could be a recipe for disaster all along the coast because we could see those storm surges of up to 3 feet high. I want to show you right now what it looks like all along the coast. Weve got coastal flood warnings from delaware all the way up to massachusetts. Thats where you got to keep your eye out. Those are the towns that are of concern right now. We could see some waves of up to 15 feet high, george. 15 feet. That is surfing. For more on those storm surges that could affect the east coast lets go to wabcs toni yates. How is it going out there, toni . Good morning. Reporter good morning, robin. The wind has been whipping nonstop. Weve been out here since 3 00 this morning. And it has been going. You can see these big mounds here behind me. Theyre called berms and several jersey shore towns have built them up on the more narrow stretches of the beaches because they are expecting those 6 to 10feethigh waves coming in hoping the berms will keep them back a little bit to protect the boardwalks, the streets and, of course, peoples homes. Hopefully they will hold. Toni, thank you. Robin, the storm is also causing dangerous pileups in the midwest overnight. More snow is coming this morning. And lets go to alex perez in chicago and, alex, how are you doing . Reporter hey, good morning, michael. You know, overnight chicago getting socked with round two, several inches of lakeeffect snow slamming the northern suburbs here, all of this stuff, now, take a look at these pictures. This is highland park, illinois, where the know is covering the roads there as they work to try to keep them clear. And in chicago overnight nearly 30 cars involved in this wreck slamming into one another after hitting black ice. Outside milwaukee up to a foot of snow responsible for multiple car crashes, parts of interstate 41 and 43 closed after a train Chain Reaction wreck including three semis left the road littered with dozens of vehicles and heres the bad news here, this lakeeffect snow is expected to linger and create problems throughout the day here. Michael. That is the problem there. I got to tell you its not keeping these younguns from being out here in times square. Ginger has more on the track and timing. Do i get to be a youngun . All right. Im happy to be snow. We set up this snow sill lip der, not regulation or official but average it out and i have four inches but hey everybody dave murphy with an update. Heavy snow in the northern and western suburbs. Central portion of the region warm air has come in and changed this over to freezing rain and sleet. May not get the accumulations we were thinking. Lets get you outside. Winds building as well. You see that on sky6 down the shore. Strong blustery winds and a wind warning down by the coast. 34 is todays high. A few more snow showers possible through the rest of the day. Day. Responding to that Republican Health care bill that calls into question the president s promise. Nick choosing vanessa. We start with david. Storm tracker6 live double scan shows you the story unfolding over the last several hours. Heavy snow in the northern and western suburbs beginning to drift as the winds pick up. Not great driving up there and in the i95 corridor we started out with a few inches of snow but we changed over for the last several hours to sleet and freezing rain. Still not ideal driving but not piling up as much snow here which is fortunate. Down to the south its changed over to rain again earlier snow there is pretty much has been washed away. The intensity of the snow will drop off after about midday but then the winds pick up and were still going to have drifting snow through the afternoon. Karen rogers joins us out on the terrace. Karen you saw that snow earlier. Yeah. Now its just sleet. Now its sleeting. You can hear it bouncing as you come down. Its an icy mix. About 4inches right now. I want to show you the temperature profile. All rain as you saw on that radar in south jersey where youre at 46 in cape may, 38 in millville. Its sleeting right now along i95 and thats whats cutting our numbers way down. In the 20s where its just snow in the Lehigh Valley. Winds are picking up, now 38 miles an hour gusts. Im feeling it out here right now blowing around a little bit and the gusty wind will that continue with the northeast. Heres what you can expect. In the Lehigh Valley northwest suburbs thats where youre getting the worst of where you have all snow heavy and drifting snow but in philadelphia i95 this is the big change. We have mixing of sleet, we had freezing rain earlier and thats whats cutting down your numbers in philadelphia and 95. Southeastern new jersey just rain at this point. You had snow earlier and the rain is washing away those totals. You see the wind blowing us around matt and tam. Indeed we do. Lets head over to matt pelman see what this means for the roads. To the north and west of philadelphia tam and matt seeing snow covered roads this morning right in and around the city on roads like the schuylkill its 6 kind of a mix. We saw a single vehicle crash on the schuylkill westbound approaching the boulevard. Eastbound cars getting by okay driving through a lot of slush piled up on the road. 95 in the great northeast pretty much the same situation. Very slushy just up ahead northbound past academy there is an accident on the median and that snow that came down in south jersey was really heavy and wet, its weighing on the trees and the wires. We have downed wires in pennsauken on marlton pike. More in Deptford Township along 47 delsea drive and a bunch of abnormalities on mass transit. Patco on a special snow schedule. We have a you believe can inches of snow in West Mount Airy along germantown avenue. You can see there is still some snow its a snow and ice mix here. The snow stopped about three and a half hours ago and since then we have been feeling this sleet and freezing rain. In fact some pellets are pelting me in the face right now. Thank you, robin. The coastal influence meaning the moisture, the rain and the sleet and the freezing rain, thats making a huge difference as to who is going to get the heaviest snow totals. Were hearing sleet already. The ice pellets can be dangerous. Look at this map. It is a large area across the northeast. Still in that blizzard warning. Remember, you dont have to have two feet of snow to make it a blizzard. You have to have snow, plus wind for 35 Miles Per Hour or greater for three hours or visibility less than a quarter mile. We will reach those criteria in a lot of places. Look at mixing with sleet in new york city. Pink line getting way too close. If you wanted snow at least. Philadelphia is already done it this morning. Theres one thing i can promise you guys, we will get cold. Michael, why dont you come here . We need some demonstrations. Congress taking a snow day canceling a hearing on the Public Health care plan as the white house fires back over that new report from the congressional Budget Office. It estimates the number of people without insurance would jump by 14 million next year, 24 million over 10 years. Abcs senior White House Correspondent cecilia vega has the details. Good morning, cecilia. Reporter george, good morning to you. The white house is pushing back on those numbers before they were even out calling them absurd and inaccurate and say they stand by their health care plan. Strong words from the white house, the Health Secretary emerging from the west wing on monday to fight back against that report that delivers a blow to the president s promise of insurance for everybody. We disagree strenuously with the report that was put out. That cbo has it wrong. Reporter the Budget Office estimates the plan to repeal and replace obamacare would leave 14 million more americans without insurance next year and within a decade, the number of uninsured growing by 24 million. The president not backing down saying the House Republican plan is just the first offer. Were negotiating with everybody. Its a big, fat, beautiful negotiation. Reporter and Speaker Paul Ryan trying to stay positive. This is a work in progress. Were extremely excited about this and im really actually, frankly, encouraged. Reporter for democrats there is nothing encouraging about it. Trump care would be a nightmare for the american people. Reporter this morning, another looming showdown over wiretapping. Press Secretary Sean Spicer now trying to walk back the wiretapping accusation altogether. The president used the word wiretap in quotes to mean broadly surveillance and other activities. He said they were in quotes referring to surveillance overall. Reporter yes, two tweets from the president put quotes around wiretap. But in others, nope, no quotes. The president s words crystal clear. This is a tweet from the president. Doesnt the president have an obligation to prove to make the evidence clear. Were making it clear we expect the house and senate intelligence. Coms to do their job. Reporter the weather so bad here in washington it forced the white house to postpone a visit between the president and german chancellor Angela Merkel that was supposed to happen today. It will happen here at the white house on friday. Cecilia, the white house, the administration attacking that cbo report but President Trump often cited the cbo in the past to attack president obama. Reporter selective use of data seems to be happening here. The president has used these same numbers as you say in the past to criticize president obama on everything from health care to unemployment and conversely, just last week when he praised job numbers that helped his administration hes called them phony and totally fictional in the past, george. Thats when they disagree with him. Cecilia, thanks very much. A view from capitol hill from our Congressional Correspondent mary bruce. So, we saw the speaker there encouraged by the cbo report but its causing a lot of nervousness among republicans on capitol hill. Reporter yeah, george, this score card is fresh ammunition for the bills opponents and could make the republican sales pitch even more difficult. Already were seeing moderate republicans say the report is giving them pause. Key senator Susan Collins says the number of americans that could lose their coverage is cause for alarm. Now, the Trump Administration is disputing the report but republicans are welcoming some of these numbers. Including the price tag. Theyre boasting that the bill could save the government 337 billion over the next decade and could lower premiums for some over time. Meantime, breitbart that conservative website that was formerly run by President Trumps chief strategist Stephen Bannon has leaked a secret tape of speaker ryan back after that access Hollywood Tape after the campaign. I am not going to defend donald trump not now, not in the future. His comments are indefensible. Theyre not in keeping with our principles so im not going to try to defend him. Interesting this is coming from breitbart. Theyve had it out for the speaker for a long time. Reporter yeah, and no response from the speaker yet. This is rehashing an old fight but potentially sowing new divisions and they were first reported back in october. But this is the first time that were actually hearing them and, of course, the first time the president will be hearing them too. By relee leasing them now conservatives who oppose the Health Care Bill may be trying to drive a wedge between the president and speaker. That is what it looks like mary, thanks very much. Coming up new concerns about what all this snow could do to your home. Our live drone flying over new jersey. The warning signs your roof could collapse. Well talk about that when we come back in two minutes. Testinhuh . Sting is this thing on . Come on your turn where do pencils go on vacation . Pennsylvania laughter crunchy wheat frosted sweet kelloggs frosted miniwheats. Feed your inner kid were back now with concerns about what the giant noreaster could do to your home dumping hundreds of pounds on snow on your roof and abcs matt gutman is in new jersey with more on that side of the story. Good morning, matt. Reporter hey, good morning, robin. The big concern with those hundreds of pounds piling up on your roof is a roof collapse. Now, this particular storm offers the worst of all worlds for homeowners. Check out this snow, it is heavy. It is wet and with it blowing with this blizzard its piling up in some of the most precarious parts of peoples roofs. As the blizzard barges in, a concern for many homeowners. Roof collapses. Videos of roofs caving in accumulating as fast as that heavy snow. More than 200 collapses causing close to 4 million in damage and just one county in the west. Proomenting the governor in idaho is issue a state of emergency that is still currently in effect now. The snow is stacking up and we need to do all we can to help them get back to normal. Reporter how much snow puts your roof at risk . While there is no nationwide standard roofs are generally built to withstand at least 20 pounds per square foot. Four feet of fresh snow or more than two feet of packed snow can exceed that weight limit. To learn how to avoid a cavein we spoke with retired fire captain scott warner at the Safety Training academy. What is the signs that the structure might be failing . You can hear creaking and popping, cracking noise of the wood to fail. If you start hearing these noises, what do you do . Get out as fast as you can. Reporter so, the experts say what you want to do is get the snow off your roof. Snow shovel, not going to help you. Ditch that. We have a snow rake and you can buy this. With our drone shot you can see what happens when the snow piles up on flat and low pitched roofs so what youll want to do is get a ladder, youre going to climb up the ladder very, very carefully and what youll do is use the snow rake to take some of the snow off the roof. Dont want to park it too close to the rooftop because you dont want that snow coming down on you like that. Thats a bad thing. Now, you want to be careful using the ladder. There are perils in using ladders so what the experts have told us hire professionals to do this for you. But you do want to get that snow off your roof, robin. But its difficult for the professional, as well, right, matt . Reporter thats right. No. We missed the womens march memo. Dan abrams here as well and dan, this story, a big lawsuit hitting amazon. Its over this incident well show you. A philadelphia man claimed a portable iphone charger. I thought we were going to show it. There it is that he bought from amazon exploded in his pocket and injured his hand. I can understand why hes suing the company that made it. But why amazon. Because they have a lot of money. You know, really, the bottom line is typically you do sue the manufacturer. Youre right. Its a lot easier to sue the manufacturer. The product was defective. Theyre responsible. Now, how do you hold someone like amazon responsible . You got to be able to show they knew or should have known that it was defective in selling it. Typically in this kind of case it would be a national recall, lets say, and they sold it anyway and you say, wait a sec, they were negligent in tipping to sell it. Theyre saying amazon had report, et cetera. You need more than anecdotal accounts and you need something firm to try to hold amazon responsible. Remember, it doesnt necessarily mean that the manufacturers responsible either because theyll claim im sure it wasnt detective. On the amazon side what kind of defense could we see . For amazon theyll probably say, you know, we didnt know that this was a problem. We cant be held responsible for this. And on the part of the manufacturer it will be interesting. Im sure theyll say its not defective but say this guy had it for nine months. What happened in those nine months. How did he use it . Did he use it properly . What kind of outlets was it plugged into, et cetera. A lot of questions about it over the course of the time when he owned it because he owned it for that period of nine months before this happened. Reached out to amazon and the manufacturer. They didnt comment but, how much does this ding the brand. I dont think jeff bezos is losing sleep. Even if it was a problem, theres a history of advertisers, tylenol, many of them, you get ahead of it. Worst case it is a problem and anybody can sue anybody to dans point so theyre just fine. A lot of questions to be answered. A lot of course aed in this case. Something else that is coming up about cell phone, right . The cell phone war. Its heating up. Alisters taylor swift and ariana grande, justin bieber, just a few signing massive deals with competing mobile networks and now Mark Wahlberg landing a contract with at t worth millions of dollars and, donny, what is going on . Why are they attracted to the stars and the stars to them . Calling him. Offered 50 bucks and a train ticket and turned it down. The celebrity wars. Its an undifferentiated product, a phone is a phone is a phone. Can you can separate it with a wahlberg or taylor swift, thats the good news. The bad news, a celebrity endorsement works like matthew mcconaughey, when its somebody saying buy the phone, here are the minutes, i think consumers turn it off. So i think at the end of the day its all a wash. I dont think one person is buying a sprint or a verizon phone because this celebrity is doing it, but once one does it like i said . Spending a lot of money for nothing. What does it mean for the consumer. For the consumer theyre still looking for minutes. I always say the consumer is not dumb. The consumer is your wife or your husband or nextdoor nine. I dont think they say this is jamie foxx, i have to have that phone. I think the consumer wants the most minutes for the least amount of dollars and thats what they do. So i think at the end of the day, i dont think its a huge difference one way or the other. I know dan is a huge taylor swift fan so that might be a different story. Taylor swift and Mark Wahlberg are doing content deals around the cell phone deals but the competition is fierce. These companies have deep pockets. So how far could this go. Once again for them to spend 10 million is nothing. You know, it is not that big of a deal and i think this is one of those businesses where its can you top this . So where does it go . The only way if somebody gets obama, thats a good endorsement. Im kidding. Thats not going to happen. Nobody told me abrams would be here. I have agents that work this thing out. Im not supposed to be at the same table. If they offer you 10 million 10, george, ill be honest. Thanks a lot. Im going to break this up. Wait a minute. We have brains at this table. There we go. Just making sure. All right. Freezing rain and a lot of things from philadelphia to washington, d. C. That will cut down on snow totals but im telling you there are a lot of places with heavy snow already. If youre near the coast, the sleet that we are hearing right now, thats going to affect how you move on with this storm and how much snow you get. Theres the timing. Tuesday, noon, still happening, still mixing here in new york city, heaviest snow happening in western massachusetts and connecticut. Vermont, new hampshire, maine, all snow until late night, then they transition at the coast too. We all get done with this thing by the time we reach tomorrow. Lets take a little ride with mobile6 right behind one of those plow trucks or at least going out there to distribute some salt. Were in the citys roxborough section which is seeing some rain and some mixed precipitation. A lot of those roads could still use a little bit of salt out there. Lets go over to dave murphy. Hes got updates from accuweather and matt pelman of course is watching the roads. Good morning. All right, guys, we still have heavy snow falling in the northern suburbs and were still looking at all the same problems with the blizzard warning up there, blowing snow, drifting snow and Poor Visibility but the change in the forecast involves the i95 corridor. Warm air coming in off the coast has changed this over to sleet after we put down the 3inches or 4inches of snow. Now looks like were not going to get a whole lot more than that. Late this afternoon there could be additional accumulation as colder air wraps in its a lot of rain down south. Be careful of icy condition. Because of in sleet invasion were lowering our projection to the i95 corridor to four maybe 8inches on the high side, still worse up north and a lot of this stuff down south is washing away. What have we got on roads right now, matt . Seeing a lot of still problems out there. Yeah, even though those totals might not be so great were still seeing some not so great traffic situations too david. In delco on the ramp blue route southbound to 95 northbound accident involving this downed pole here. People are slipping, sliding, running off the roadways and especially the ramps in many cases and weve got some vehicles getting stuck in the snow. That happened out in downingtown Chester County along the 30 bypass by business 30 and you can see why. The road is still completely snow covered here out west in downingtown on the 30 bypass. The car that was stuck has been pulled out so were moving again. Also getting word of a whole bunch of downed trees and downed wires with icy conditions in new castle Federal School road is blocked, hamburg road gets you around it. Pilesgrove township salem county route 40 harding highway is belonged at glassboro road. Woodlane your alternate there. A downed tree on the new jersey turnpike as you head southbound matt and tam. Okay, thank you, matt. New jersey correspondent Nora Muchanic is live with us in ortley beach ocean county where flooding and beach erosion of course are big concerns when there are storms. Good morning, nora. Reporter hi there, tam. The conditions here are absolutely miserable. The wind is fierce, its coming right off the water, its driving the sand, driving the waves and take a look at the ocean, it is really kicked up. We are about an hour and a half away from high tide and that could be a problem here. As you can see, the dune system here in ortley beach was compromised in that january storm and you can see how bad the wind is right now. My cameraman is being blown all over. The dunes here are a problem. Theyre worried that the water may come up and over and breach here at seventh street. Theres not much of a dune at all and so everybody is keeping a close eye on that. Im Nora Muchanic in ortley beach. Back to you. Thank you nor ranch hold on a hold on. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is live in South Whitehall township. Annie. Reporter and matt if you can believe it this is the worst it has been all morning. The wind has picked up, the snow is falling and theres sleet mixed in. Check it visibility, the low visibility. Were on tillman street by the 309 exit and onramp and the earlier this morning about an hour ago we started to actually see traffic more than just plows. We saw at one point at least 10 cars on the roadway. Now were not seeing anyone and that is because the snow is again picking up here. Already theres several inches here and each time a plow comes through, just about 10 minutes later, you see only snow again. You cant see the blacktop. For now live in South Whitehall township Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. Thank you annie. The Philadelphia Art Museum and zoo are closed today. Its so good. Its the best. Im not kidding. Reporter for Good Morning America, im diane macedo, abc news, new york. And we are so happy to have the new couple, nick and vanessa to join us from l. A. This morning. Because they could not get to new york. And you both look nice and warm and cozy there and i have to ask you, nick, does it feel good to finally have it out in the open youre an engaged man, youre in love. How do you feel right now . It feels great, yeah. Its very difficult to try to keep that secret and, you know, its been a long time for me and bachelor world. Its a good feeling to be engaged, to have vanessa and to have this kind of chapter in my life come to an end. Vanessa, show us the ring. You got to show us the ring. Here we go. I love it. [ cheers and applause ] he made a good choice. Did a pretty good job and, vanessa, for you, you asked some tough questions and i did. You were really honest so were you ever afraid of being too honest and possibly not getting that proposal . Well, i mean, like any relationship, you know, you have your ups and downs and although we had tough conversations we had a lot of fun so it was important to know we would be able to get past those hard conversations. And, nick, you have a decision to make and it was a tough decision but how was it for you to tell raven that she was not the one . I mean, it was terrible. I mean, it sucked to be honest. Raven is great and like i said last night, i mean i certainly empathize with ravens position. I had been in that position twice and it was very heartbreaking and difficult and, you know, i felt terrible and there was no good way to do it and i just really appreciate how gracious she was and, you know, it was tough. Ive got to say everyone thinks because this is on tv that, you know, just everything is a fairy tale but you two have been very honest about the struggles of being in a relationship and even some of the fights you had along the way so have those been resolved at this point and what were some of those issues you were having . Well, i mean, it wasnt anything specific or, you know, fights. I think, you know, vanessa and i just kind of decided to just be up front with the fact that its difficult starting a relationship as the bachelor and with 29 other women and its difficult to maintain that relationship Long Distance while its being reaired and i think every couple before us has experienced those challenges and we just decided to just kind of just be up front about it and just be open to the realities of our relationship. We have an Important Message from some important people in your life. Nick, this message is from your parents. Take a look. Ooh. Vanessa, were looking so forward to having nick bringing you home and meeting all the family members and getting to know them and hanging out and having a great time. Welcome back to Good Morning America. That is a snowy times square. We had sleet. Now we have giant almost golf ball size clusters. I wouldnt even call them all right ginger. Right now we have heavy snow in the northern suburbs. A lot of sleet and freezing rain in the central portion of the region and a lot of very icy roads through here. So its snowy wind blowing the snow around up there, icy in the central portion of the region. Rain for the most part further south sky6 shows you its overcast obviously and heavy snow up north until lunchtime. Heavy snow through the morning, 34 is the high. Sleet in the central portion of the region maybe a couple more snow showers later this afternoon. And then much drier tomorrow. Ou got the health risk to watch out for. T. J. Is out there shoveling. Well talk to him in a moment. First dr. Rahul sharnma in chief at presbyterian cornell hospital. A hundred people die from shoveling every year. Two in wisconsin just recently. Explain why thats the case. Its about supply and demand. When you shovel snow your heart rate goes up, Blood Pressure goes up and being out in the cold constricts your blood vessels, now, if youre a young person who is fit, it shouldnt really be a big issue. But if youre elderly and have underlying heart problems this could set you up for a heart attack because of the decreased blood flow as well as increased workload on the heart. As we wont be able to get out to t. J. , were seeing that. What are the proper ways to shovel. The most important thing is be prepared. Stretch. And just like you would do and not over the shoulders. You dont want to lift. You want to push forward. Thank you very much. Were very limited with time. Very sorry. Well be right back. Good morning. It is 8 27 on this tuesday march 14th. The action cam is live at 12th street and west avenue in ocean city, new jersey. You can see the flooding there in the roadway. Theyre dealing with some fierce winds. That causes worries about beach erosion and again coastal flooding being an issue along the shore, 9 30 is when we expect high tide a little further north up in atlantic city. Could get worse. Yeah. Lets turn now to matt pelman who is looking at the roads and dave murphy who has been warning about the coastal flooding. Yes, actually an aerial flood advisory across all of south jersey and most of delaware because of heavy rain. Closer to the i95 corridor we got some snow in the predawn hours but its been all sleet and freezing rain for the last several hours. Reports of very icy Road Conditions so even though you dont have as much snow as you were thinking in and around here stay off the roads because theyre still trying to chew through all of that and still heavy snow up in the northern suburbs. We are downgrading a little bit on the snowfall because the sleet is really taking over but in this area we still have problems with a lot of icy Road Conditions. Up to the north heavy snow probably slackening off a little bit after about lunchtime but strong winds are going to be blowing it all over the place. Matt pelman visibility is going to definitely be a problem up north today. Ill tell you david we really have something for everyone this morning. Out in the westerns burbs roads still snow covered. Plows working overtime out here on these highways but go to south jersey and its mostly wet here along 42 with just a little bit of slush. Still were seeing some accidents and a whole bunch of downed trees and wires in south jersey. Ones on the turnpike southbound approaching exit three in salem county portions of 40 westbound and 49 are blocked because of downed wires and downed trees. Mass transit the schedules are all over the place today. Five septa bus routes are not running other routes running with detours njt buses not running, river line is on a sunday schedule and the septa regional rails are on a saturday schedule with up to half hour delays. Something for everyone matt and tam. Something indeed. If snow is your thing we know where to find at this time. Lets go to the Lehigh Valley where he were find action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick live in South Whitehall township. It really is a Winter Wonderland up there, annie. Reporter it is. It looks beautiful tam but it feels awful. This is the accumulation that youre seeing and it is powdery, theres about several inches up here but the problem is now besides the snow youre having a mixture of sleet and its this wind that is pushing all of that sleet right into your face. Check out the road here. This is tillman street. This was carried just about 15 minutes ago. Its snow covered again. That is what youre seeing out here and also the visibility is an issue, too, so big note for drivers. Were live in south white Wall TownshipAnnie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. Our coverage of this coastal storm continues on 6abc. Com where you can find information on snow emergencies, transit changes and storm tracker6 live radar. Back to gma. Be our guest we are live in youre warming our hearts. Dallas, texas, and all across the country you came out from means a lot and weve got one person who braved the elements, as well. You know him from star wars, moulin rouge and butterball butte. Would you please give it up for ewan mcgregor. [ cheers and applause ] be our guest you look great. How are you . Nice to see you. Good to see you, man. [ applause ] that was worth getting up for. Thank you. Wow. Hello. Hello. There was not an audience here last time. You like it. There wasnt an orchestra either. We keep adding things. We like to have a little discussion and throw something out there and get your feedback on it, as well. And when you meet a person, do you ask for their phone number. How many people have done that before. You got to get those digits. Nobody is raising their hand. When you met your wives, did you ask for their phone numbers . Sure. I met my wife. I was working with my wife when i met her on a show in london in 1993 and i didnt need to have her phone number because i was working with her. Oh, so you had an easier route. Yeah. Ive never asked for anyones phone number since so a little trouble if you did. Yeah. Right. [ applause ] well, it just goes to show. How many people ask for phone numbers. Very few raise their hands. An article in the New York Post says asking for a phone number is over. Its like totally 2016. I mean, i remember asking for the beeper number. I go back that far. Oh, my gosh. They say if you ask for a phone number people dont respond to that. They go through social media. They go through video calling or even email. Whats your handle . That doesnt have the same ring to it. You know what is interesting, the youngsters that we work with, the millennials, my producer was saying, that she finds that much more problem asking for your instagram handle or because theres so much more there to share whereas just a phone number is just digits. Okay. So, yeah, i wonder, do you guys agree with that . Yeah. [ applause ] you do . Smart. I think its a good way to like weed out people oh, i never check my twitter. I dont know. I didnt see that message. With your phone you always have your phone and people know you get the message. You just gave away a secret. All you millennials, you got it right somehow so you did. Can we talk about beauty and the beast. We can. Thank you. Yes. [ applause ] we have Stanley Tucci was here. You had a great time at the premiere. Yes, stanley is a great find of mine. We worked together in a life less ordinary in 1976 or something and weve been friends ever since and every now and again we come back together on a movie and we did a film called jack the giant killer or slayer and have such a great relationship. I adore that man. Your wife is french and in this movie you have a great french accent. Did you learn from her. I thought i would just i was a little lazy because ive lived with that all these years. My french accent will be perfect. And i turned up to london to we had to the Household Items of which im one, we recorded all our dialogue so that when the arcs who are doing the live action stuff are on set they had voices to play back to, you know, to listen to. When they were acting to tennis balls and such. They were looking at and i went in i swarmed in to record mine but my french accent wasnt very good at all and they also disney wanted certain had the hard her sound, the french and they didnt want that so they wanted an r. That made it like a pirate. Like spanish or mexican so luckily bill con done, the wonderful director, i said to him, i said, look, please let me back and do it again when youre finished so you got a doover. I got to rerecord all my dialogue so its slightly more french now. Can i ask can we get a handle on what your first round sounded and your redo sounded like. An example. She is the girl and she is the girl. Oh. The second one is better. It is more french, yes. The first one yes. Be our guest i havent recorded a big song like that since moulin rouge. No pressure whatsoever. No, not really much. So, how is your lumiere different from the one we know, the original. I dont know because i dont really know the original one. Really. No you didnt go back. No, because ive played parts on stage or, yeah, on stage i guess that other people have played in shakespeare and played diago and amazing actors have played it before and the last thing you want to do is ask them how to do it and if it was a movie you wouldnt want to go and watch that person do it because you want to make it your own, you know and i think the writing was very good and bill condons direction is good so i let them lead me and make it my lumiere. And the results. Look. I am telling you this girl is the one. They must fall in love if we are to be human again and how can they fall in love about she stays in her room. Chape. A, you missed a stop. My broken clock is right two times a day mon ami. Its time. [ cheers and applause ] how was it singing for the First Time Since moulin rouge. Wonderful. I loved it. Its very special thing to make music. You know, its a wonderful if i hadnt been an actor i think maybe thats what i would have liked to have done. Such a pleasure to make music. When youre recording a big number like this, its very exciting. An orchestra behind you as i have right now and i never leave home without one. You said moulin rouge. Such a great movie. That might be what i watch today. Great movie. Beauty and the beast is great. We have been waiting a long time for this movie but we also have been waiting a long time for trainspotting, the sequel. 21 years. Yes. And the sequel comes out this week. So, have fans been asking you about that when they see you . When is the sequel . The sequel is set 20 years later and irvin welsh wrote a sequel to his novel which came out about ten years after the trainspotting novel came out and the novel is scotland was sort of a book of my generation. It was an enormous success and a wonderful book that sort of defined that time and when a sequel when he wrote his im not going to say the name of his second book because im on Breakfast Television but came out ten years later and at that point, i dont think there was a script that came out of it that was good enough for danny to send to us so it took another ten years really for them to nail it and what the film has in it which is really deep, i think, is this sense that man in this case because its primarily about four boys in their mid40s approaching their 50s so start looking back on their lives and then in our case looking back on our youths and that is the trainspotting film we all know and love. Powerful . And through that sort of retrospective looking back trying to figure out how theyre going to move forward. What was my life going to be like and im starting to sense that a little bit at my age. Right. And i think thats what this encapsulates and wouldnt have done if we had done it ten years ago because we would have been too young. Got to get a question from the audience. We have someone. Way in the back. Josh. Josh groban . [ applause ] josh groban. [ applause ] can i just come up there for a minute . Come on up, josh. [ applause ] hey. Oh, my gosh. Good to see you. The beard. What a great look. Hi. How are you . I worship you. No. Ill stand next to you. Now the okay tra makes sense, right . Well, i mean my question basically has to do with your singing of the song and just kind of thinking to myself, well, you know, were all here and we have these musicians. Michael, i know you would like to sing a song. Not like he does. Are you ready . No, im not going to sing a song. Im sorry. I think you would have had to give me warning to warm up my pipes. [ applause ] he said all of us. We have josh here. Why not have josh lead us off. [ applause ] be our guest be our guest put our service to the test tie around your neck and let the rest come on. Soup du jour. If you dont believe me ask the dishes thets they can sing they can dance after this is france rachael its our first ever dorm room mania cook off with cohost curtis stone. I have to crown a winner. Rachael then party on with curtis whats happened to snacking . How did it becomeabsentmindedly eating one after the next . Back here on good morning funny one from our friend jim grant in San Diego California where its down right hot. Thats sand hes measuring. Lets get a check of your local weather. People have a sense of humor. All right we got heavy snow up in the northern and western suburbs blowing around up there at times. Look out for icy Road Conditions up and down the i95 corridor. Not that much snow but a lot of sleet and freezing rain through the rest of the morning. 34 is todays high, precip winds down this afternoon. By de. A mississippi girl, how was it. It was great. Michael, youre next. Thank you, ginger. Nothing like a good snow angel in new york city. We are back with our favorite newly engaged couple, the bachelor nick and vanessa and earlier we showed a message from your parents and, vanessa, we know youre a special education teach enand got a surprise message for you as well. Check this out. All we love you. I love them. [ applause ] it was great thaw took nick actually to your class to meet your students and we we know youre both out in l. A. And, nick, youre doing dancing with the stars. First how is that going and secondly what will you do after that dancing with the stars is over . Yeah, every part of my body hurts. Its really hard but peta has been great so im just trying to keep up with her but im excited about that but afterwards even right now, recently started an Internet Business for Mens Grooming supplies called the e im doing ven focusing on that dancing but thats been a big priority for me for the past several months now. I got to say i do have beard envy as i look at you. Oh, thank you, michael. A question that i think everybody wants what about the wedding plans . Have you guys set a date yet . No. Were not like i said i mean, like one thing i think we appreciate about our relationship is were going to take this one step at a time and be realistic. I mean last night since we didnt make the flight was our first time having dinner at a restaurant in public and i think theres just some things we want to do as a couple and some normal things and, you know, were going to move things along so thats our focus right now and well worry about setting a date down the road. Well, its your relationship. You handle it how you want to handle it. Thats your priority what do they call it, prerogative, bobby brown. We want to know how well you know each other. The became is called wedding bliss or total miss. Now, im going to ask both of you a question. You have a bouquet in the hand and a champagne flute in the hand. If the question applies to nick, you hold up the champagne glass. If it applies to vanessa, you hold up the bouquet and if you hold up the same thing that means wedding bliss. Youre both on the same page. N. So here we go. Quest number one, who has the shorter Attention Span . [ laughter ] i mean, i well you know, you know what i love her for the answers. Youre not dont go against her. Youre learning early. Looks like you both agree. Thats wedding bliss right there. Second question, who spends more time on his or herphone . There we go. [ applause ] youre all on the same page. Here is the last one, who argum . Nick, look at vanessa and learn. We compromise. Cant wait to see it. Everyone on the east coast, enjoy the snow day. Have a great tuesday. The coastal storm and its approaching high tide pushed up water around 12th street and west avenue in ocean city. The flooding could get worse with the official high tide in oc not until 10 37. Lets get you the latest on conditions around the region. Matt pelman is watching the icy roads and dave murphy has everything from accuweather. Good morning. Pockets of heavy snow in parts of the northern and western suburbs. This line highlighted in pink is probably the heaviest and its shifted towards the east. There may be some sleet working in here too. Ive had some reports on that on social media and the Center Portion of the region not getting as much snow as anticipated but instead youre getting sleet and freezing rain and lots of reports of icy roads in through here so still al good idea to stay off the roads even though you might not have the height of the snow you expected and yes, a lot of rain down south and some of it is heavy enough to cause minor flooding. How much are we expecting on the ground . Most of us are up around three or 4inches in philadelphia. A second band a changeover to snow later in the afternoon. It wont be as heavy as what were seeing right now but eight wouldnt be out of the question in some areas. I think you got to go farther north to get most of that, though matt. You go north and west and we are still seeing a lot of snow covered roadways. Like a breath of fresh air david a plow train just came through here along 202 near boot road which is good because a little bit ago we had a snowplow that was stuck there was so much snow along 202. Different scene though over here in mount laurel its just wet and a little bit slushy along 73 at 295. Bunch of downed trees and wires including on 295 and the newevea bunch of flooding locations in ocean city sea isle and wildwood and some abnormalities on mass transit. Njt buses not running and about 10 or 15 different septa bus routes also are now suspended. Matt and tam. Thank you matt. New jersey correspondent norlved whipped ortley beach in ocean county. Holding on there nora. Wow. Reporter yeah, im holding on here matt its no the easy s you cannot put your face directly into the wind. Its st now. The wind is that ferocious. Take a look at that ocean out there. Unbelievable. It is really kicked up and right now the water is crashing on what is left of the dunes. There are not many dunes here in this section of ortley beach and that has been the concern, high tide is at 9 2 hau see what youve got here. Im Nora Muchanic. Well have more for you later, ma its. Thank you nora. As you see right there the story is water and wind to the south but to the north were dealing with lots of snow as well wind. Annie mccormick is live in South Whitehall township.
