First of all we heard from the russians and they call the cia assessment unfounded, unprofessional, unqualified. But the fact is the russians did target both republicans and democrats during the election. Thats what cording to u. S. And european intelligence officials as well as members of congress from both sides of the aisle. The russians were much more successful however with the democrats than the republicans which had a better cybersecurity operation. The russians got into two computers connected to the republicans, a consultant and a local party but did not get to the main computer at the rnc. The big question, motive. Were the russians trying to help trump win. In this case other agencies tell us they dont agree with the cia and what they are now analyzing is that the russians thought Hillary Clinton was going to win. They sought to weaken her once she was elected. It wasnt so much going after trump and getting him elected according to these officials. Interesting, brian ross, as always, thank you very much. Trumps comments over the weekend. The written statement saying it is concerning that intelligence on russian actions related to the u. S. Election is being dismissed out of hand as false or politically partisan. The inclination to ignore such intelligence and impugn the integrity of u. S. Intelligence officials work day and tight to protect the country. Pretty stunning rebuttal. It is, but if you look at the newsweek article posted you see another cia article counterterrorism expert on the record which is rare in this instance saying, listen, we cant rush to judgment that after that closed Door House Intelligence Committee briefing last week somebody came out and said somebody from the fbi said its fuzzy and disagree. There is a direct nexus by any effort from the kremlin to hack into this and the election result. Thats what it is. First it was jim comeys fault and lets have a recall. Then its russian interference then a bunch of people in a movement that we have disavowed many times. How about it just was Hillary Clinton and the message. I think theyre trying to conflate the two so we nobody here is doing that and the president elect isnt just questioning that cia assessment. He is questioned the on the record assessment of 17 intelligence agencies that russia was trying to meddle in this election. He says he doesnt believe it. Why . Because these are all unsourced this is a public release in october. 17 intelligence official agencies all saying russia was part of had. But what he said yesterday is what he is calling laughable and ridiculous, george, is the specific conclusion that what russia did led to his victory and Hillary Clintons defeat. Thats where our beef is. He respects the Intelligence Community. Hes going to be president of the united states. You keep saying he respects it but doesnt believe their conclusions saying specifically he does not believe the conclusion of 17 agencies that russia was involved here. The conclusion that this helped him win and Hillary Clinton lose, thats what he said. But Time Magazine last week said he i do not believe the Intelligence Community that russia was behind it. Behind this meaning the election result medding in our election. Thats what investigations are for. If we have the closed Door House Intelligence Committee meeting last week or so then thats whats happening. Its ongoing. I know senator mccain said they would go ahead and open up hearings, fine. The executive would never meddle in that. Let me make clear, the president elect does not want interference into our politics. But we also dont want politics into the interference of our intelligence and thats whats happening now. People are trying to politicize our intelligence because they dont like the election result. We begin with the latest on the Dalia Dippolito retrial, the woman accused of trying to hire a hit man to murder her husband could take the stand today as new questions are raised about a key video at the center of this case and abcs linsey davis is here with all of the details. Good morning. Good morning. Many may remember her as the woman who said she was 5,000 sure she wanted a hit man to kill her husband but Dalia Dippolito has said along she is innocent. That she was simply acting for a Reality Tv Show hoax planned by her husband, something she may explain today if she ends up taking the witness stand. This morning, Dalia Dippolito will be back in the florida courtroom preparing to possibly take the stand in her defense in her murder for hire retrial. Im positive like 5,000 sure. Reporter accused of paying an undercover officer as a hit man could hill her husband of six month, michael. Im sorry to tell you, maam, its been killed. Reporter in court dippolitos lawyers turned the spotlight on the Police Department behind the videos arguing that the Boynton Beach Police Department staged this encounter and posted it online to impress the crew of the tv show cops and by doing so tainted and put their quest for fame ahead of the integrity of the investigation, something the Police Department disputes. Post that on youtube for the whole world to see within six minutes. You dont think thats going to jeopardize youre laughing. You keep changing the time. You think this is funny, maam. No, i dont but now you are a saying its six minutes. Reporter had is the second time dippolito is being charged for the alleged crime after an Appellate Court reversed her conviction in 2014. In an interview with our amy robach last december, dippolito maintained her innocence. Did you want your husband dead . No, absolutely not. Did you hire a hit man to kill your husband . No. The judge says once the defense rests its case he will decide if the jury will see that now infamous youtube video. Lets bring in our chief legal analyst dan abrams and the big question whether she will take the stand. What are the risks and benefits . She was convicted in the first trial and didnt testify. So that in and of itself is a reason to say maybe she needs to do something different. The problem is this time the theory of the defense has primarily been blame the cops. The cops were trying to impress the show cops. They were engaged in all sorts of horrible activity and actions, et cetera. If she takes the stand, the focus then returns to i thought i was on a reality show and i was faking it all and i was acting. And its hard to have both defenses at the same time. So i think thats an argument to suggest she wont take the stand and, look, in a case like this the defense is always going to say were deciding till the last minute if they knew from the beginning she wouldnt testify. Now, this tape of her reaction when police tell her her husband is dead, so far has been inadmissible. Could that change given the strategy of the defense . The prosecution agreed to not admit it into evidence. The judge said, o. Well leave that out of evidence but now the prosecution is saying the defense has raised it as an issue meaning on crossexamination of the witness you saw there they essentially brought it up and they brought up the way the police handled this throughout this case. Prosecutors saying we have to be able to rebut that and respond. And so that tape is necessary prosecutors say to allow us to respond to the allegations theyve made, the judge saying ill wait till the end to make that decision, i think part of the decision is going to be connected to does Dalia Dippolito testify. Moving on to that scary moment for a family traveling in bad weather relying on their gps and ended up stranded on a Snowy Mountain for hours without Cell Phone Service and gio benitez has their story. Reporter good morning. Listen, this can happen at any moment driving through an unfamiliar area relying on gps like so many of us do when suddenly youre lost or even worse stranded in the snow. That happened to an oregon family and this morning they are definitely lucky to be alive. The sanquist family traveling from oregon to california relied on their gps to give them the quickest route. We know we started sliding and got stuck. Reporter but that shortest route took the family, mom, dad, their 9yearold daughter and the family dog straight through the Page Mountain snow park where many roads dont get plowed this time of year. Their car wouldnt move. The family didnt have a shovel or a Cell Phone Service. The sanquists were stuck there with no help in sight. Im not sure if i had a shovel i could have dug out. Reporter they hunkered down till morning when ron hiked two miles till help and the family finally reaching 911. It was scary because to the left was a downgrade, quite a steep one. Reporter search and rescue getting them back on track and issuing this warning for all driver, many gps and map systems can steer folks in the wrong direction during Winter Travel where conditions are poor. It happened to mark and christine on a trip through yellowstone flat park. Their gps directed them to a snowy stretch of highway which was closed because of treacherous conditions. We never saw any road closed signs. We never saw any barricades. Went to there. Stuck for eight days. Abraham lincoln, dwight eisenhower, George Stephanopoulos is a bit of an introvert and hes in front of millions of people. So i think its i think its very he could do it. I think part of this is he probably was figuring out if he could serve in a clinton cabinet who he was close to members of her staff. So i was able to share the preparation with my father, so it was that beautiful blending of life and art at the same time so some of the experiences, the character was having, i was having in my own life so i think that people i hope people will see and feel the openness that i was able to give and the honesty i was able to give to this character. So, you know, it has a little bit of that its a wonderful life beautiful christmas vibe and set in new york and its one of those s where it could only really happen in new york because of the magical element of it. You ride your bike all throughout this movie, dont you . . That was fantastic. I got essentially for the scenes a Police Escort all the time riding my bike through the streets of new york and got to ride down the middle of fifth avenue full speed. People do that all the time. Mine was safe and had stunt drivers around me but it was so beautiful like that free to be able to ride through new york in that way and it was, you know, we were thats fake. We had to make snow. You would see people come around the corner like what the hell. So, yeah, you know, big piles of snow. So many almost the whole cast, i had the great pleasure of sitting down with dame judi dench. And helen mirror. That other beautiful yeah. Described a really wonderful camaraderie and said maybe it was the storytelling. Maybe it was will smith. Maybe it was the fact there was a beautiful trio of british actresses. Did you feel that way . Theres that group. Theres our cast. Yeah. Yeah, no, it was why does the person taking the picture always have the dumb i actually get to i know. Like your face is never really right for the picture. Pass off the camera. Yeah, i look the dumbest. No, but it was like just a Beautiful Group of people coming together around this idea. I think that morning anything, thats what it was. It was like such powerful helpful ideas around love and time and death, you know, the things that is so universally relatable and i think everybody bonded around the ideas and some of the conversations that we would have and i mean it didnt hurt that everybody in the cast is like the best in the world. Yeah. And we were told a little secret when the cameras stopped rolling you went into hamilton immediate. Yeah. Do you have a favorite song. Up and son and the scotsman drop and i love that. I love. I didnt know if i could say those two words. Yall was like i was like, ooh. Morning television. Yeah, but, yeah, no, it was during that time. It was so such a Beautiful Energy on set. This is one of the most fun, the most emotional connection ive ever had working with a group of people on set. Naomie harris told me you were a big practical jokester messing with her a little bit no, its funny. When people are british, american jokes arent funny, so its really like that made it extra funny to me, you know. Like i dont get it. Oh, okay. So then im going to say it again. Just louder. Oh, man. A question for you. Your two kids so stunning. Very fashion forward. Where do they get it . I have no idea. Its like it just poor parenting. I mean like let me tell you, they are, yeah, i think if theres one gift that jada and i were able to give them is the freedom to be who they are unapologetically. Big gift. You know, as parents, a lot, jada and i struggled with them wanting to be whether we want them to be versus the fight that we had with ourselves as you know what, they were created as a thing and were going to get behind what they are rather than demand that they be what we want them to be. [ applause ] thats a big breakthrough. Yeah, yeah. Tell you what as the parent i have almost a 15yearold and listen gosh, i got to do that. But, no, its terrifying. No, thats dumb. Dont do that. They got to be allowed to make mistakes. The ability to make mistakes is how you learn. Unfortunately that pain and suffering that you gain around your own choices are comes right back. Thats how you glow and on top of it, you know, jada and i had to be really honest with ourselves. We dont know how much as we think we do. Its like they know better about themselves than we do sometimes, you know, thats just real. You can know for yourself. But you cant know for somebody else. So hard to do as a parent. I know, right. This whole acting thing doesnt work out, you have a career in theefr pi. Right. Oh, yeah, ive already had a career in therapy on the other side. Very helpful, though. Nice to see you again. Best drama actor, best drama actress and for best comedy musical. Musical actress and comedy musical actor. Sometimes its a little gray. Yeah, theyre not really a lot of thigh slappers necessarily on the comedy musical side but la la land has done very well. Getting a nomination. For best musical comedy one for emma and ryan up against another ryan, ryan renn knolls for deadpool in that. Ryan renn knolls. The track is pretty clear for la la land. As for best drama, you know thats a really impressive group. Hacksaw ridge, thats the mel gibson movie that stars Andrew Garfield and also got a nomination this time for saving lives instead of slinging webs. Manchester by the sea, moonlight and lion. Casey affleck got a nomination and hes one of the favorites in that category. Denzel washington up there also, i think the category thats loaded is actress drama. Amy adams, isabella and Natalie Portman as jackie alongside Jessica Chastain again so a lot of movies in great shape and have to say the movies the top contenders continue to be the top. La la land, youve got moonlight and youve got manchester by the sea. These are deep, you know, powerful movie, not major wild la la land is i was going to say its got a beautiful message but really is also very magical and takes you along the way. Sweeps you away and love love when you watch it. I love the movie. Ryan gosling not too shabby. In tv any surprises.
