The flooding rains will continue for the next several days unfortunately as the storm continues to sit and spin across southeastern texas. Were seeing rainfall rates 2 to 4 inches an hour. We have a tornado watch box across the houston area and southeastern through galveston and west of lake charles and alexandria in louisiana. The brighter reds is where the heaviest rains are falling. The center is well off to the southwest. The heaviest rains are falling in downtown houston. The purple shades representing 2 to 4 inches of rain per hour. The rainfall totals are very, very impressive. League city within the houston area, shy of 2 feet. Clear creek, 21. 4. Pasadena, 7. 72 inches. Barry bayou, 16. 8 inches of rain. And elenger receiving 14. 83 inches of rain. This is the second part of the storm that continues to spin, the result will be a tremendous amount of rain over the next several days. Reporter harvey may be spinning around wednesday thursday and friday, theres no steering currents to push this storm along. Very similar to what we were talking about yesterday, nothing has changed with the thinking it is over land now, it is beginning to weaken, it is no longer a hurricane. We have to wait and see where this wants to go. In the meantime well see the heavy rains on the northern and western sides here. What weve done were showing you the infared satellite loop and showing you the cloud tops. The reds is where most of the rain is falling. Its east northeast to the center of circulation west of victoria, texas. These reds and oranges represent rainfall rates anywhere from 2 to 4 inches an hour. Some locations in this part of the country picked up almost 20 inches of rain and were expecting an additional one to two feet here because the storm isnt moving all that much.
