Were not too disheartened on the roads so far this morning. Things are looking good as we look live at 422. We definitely feel comfortable on the terrace this morning. Weve got a lot of cloud cover around and Storm Tracker6 live double scan shows in you a couple corners of the region there are sprinkles and light showers one down south of dover, another one up by allentown kind of falling apart a little bit out in lancaster county. Real slow moving cell so its light nuisance rain which could hang over you for awhile if you get stuck under those. Theres a fair amount of cloud cover. Drying to the northwest. One lane has been repaved, one is still milled here on the eastbound direction approaching the conshohocken curve. So, ones a little bumpy, the ones pretty smooth and theres a difference in the height of the two lanes. At this point though no big delays as you come eastbound away from the blue route 476. Northeast extension 476 looks fine but theres a crash in lansdale to avoid right by the walgreens, a vehicle ran into a telephone pole this morning. So, main street, 63 at valley forge road, 363 is where the emergency crews are working on that accident scene. Also value water main break this morning near overbrook along city avenue township line road route one at rolling road by the ross dress for less. One lanes blocked there. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott has just arrived on the scene along ruby street just off of market. Good morning, katherine. Reporter good morning, tam. Its an absolute mess some were told that the two people that were inside at the time this happened were not seriously injured. This is the scene behind me. This is the home that collapsed here this morning in West Philadelphia. You can see all the insides of the home have now slid down into the construction site next door and there were two people, a couple inside when this all happened. I spoke to the Fire Department. They got the call about this around 4 45 this morning about the collapse. They heard there were people possibly trapped inside. However, those people were able to get out safely before the Fire Department arrived. This is a twostory home. It was designed to be a row home but its been standing alone which im told means it was already structurally compromised. Theres been construction going on next door for the last several weeks and its unclear if any bracing was done to the home while this construction was going on but around 4 45 this morning, the two people, a couple, were inside the home. They were not seriously injured. Neighbors heard a crack. Then they say it sounded like an avalanche. I was on the porch, sitting on the porch and i heard like a mild earthquake. It was like a squeaky like cracking sound. Reporter [inaudible] no, it didnt look like it at all. The mural was up nice. It didnt look like it was coming down or anything. Reporter the guy is okay at least. Yeah, they got out pretty early. Reporter and do you know [inaudible] reporter now, the mural on the side of the home that collapsed was called i want to call you names. It was part of a project of 50 murals in West Philadelphia collectively called a love letter for you. You can see only a few of the words on there, lover and friend are what remains. Other than that all the insides of the home are outside. This all remains under investigation but again, at this. 2 people got out. They were not seriously injured. Were live in West Philadelphia, Katherine Scott, channel6 action news. Katherine thank you for that. And a father is injured and his son seriously wounded after a family argument in Montgomery County. Chopper6 was over the scene on the 400 block of lincoln avenue in pottstown last night. Sunoco for its part denies any wrongdoing. Lets turn now to dave murphy. If youve been wondering whats the best day of the week i think were upon it. Yeah, i mean, its maybe a little sprinkle in a couple of neighborhoods today but clouds, some sunny breaks and low humidity, not bad overall. Storm tracker6 live double scan shows you that we are indeed dry across most of the region right now. If i give you that two dimensional view on Storm Tracker and we go in a little bit tighter to some of these areas seeing the precipitation, well, that stuff up in the north is really falling apart. Ill lapse this for you. Its not moving all that quickly so if you do get stuck underneath this it kind of takes awhile for it to sort of drift off to the north but areas to the east of kutztown and to the west of allentown getting that. Theres also another little cell down by Lincoln University and lincoln, pennsylvania. As we go out wider and zoom in down south this area of precipitation is Holding Together a little bit more. If youre down around dover and the Dover Air Force base, youre still seeing some of that very light precipitation with some slightly steadier stuff down at the top of route one and route 13 just below dover. Taking a lookout outside cloudy skies across most of the region. That would include the airport. We cant rule out some sunny breaks this morning. Theres a little better chance of that the later we go into the day and nobody else seeing any sprinkles and showers just yet. The temperature is comfortable. 68 degrees and your dewpoint down at 62, thats barely humid at all so really refreshing as you step outside. A 7 Miles Per Hour wind so not much breeze and the ocean temperature is at 75 degrees. Future tracker6 shows you clouds in the morning and a couple of sprinkles and unfortunately there could be a little bit more of that popping up as we go up to lunchtime and even through the rest of the afternoon, all the way up to 6 oclock. Clouds will be fairly prevalent but some sunny breaks at times are expected and again, maybe some of you see a little passing sprinkle or shower like this morning they may hang over one area for a little while but they dont look like theyre going to do any damage. 67 by 8 oclock, 73 by 10 oclock. 75 by noon and this afternoon well get up to 80 for a high which is below average for this time of year. Again, a little better chance of some sunny breaks the later we go through the day period. 80 degrees the high in philadelphia but most of us are stuck in the 70s dan its today and its not a bad place to be after all the high humidity we had recently. 78 allentown, 79 reading. Down the shore it looks like mid 70s with a low risk of rip currents. Phillies and astros tonight. Nice night for baseball. 76 for the first pitch, 71 in the ninth inning, low humidity and hopefully dry. 86 tomorrow, though and as a warm front gets past us well tick up that humidity along with that rise in temperatures and then at night an area of low pressure comes through and gives us some thunderstorms which could produce drenching downpours and the Storm Prediction Center has us at a slight risk of scattered thunderstorms that could produce damaging wind gusts. Your exclusive accuweather 7day, today no big issues, just a little spritz here and there, 80 is your high, comfortable. And then more humid tomorrow with that thunderstorm chance at night and weve got an accuweather alert for friday because the thunderstorms in the overnight hours friday and into friday during the morning especially could be strong and gusty. 83 is the high. If things work out just right we may dry out and settle down a bit later in the afternoon but stick with us on that. Thunderstorms that do pop during the day on friday could be strong. Then maybe a shower Early Saturday Morning but generally speaking its clouds to sun with a high of 79 degrees and 84 delightful on sunday. All right, thank you david. Its now 6 41. And when we come back parking ing lot ambush. A woman speaks out about the attack that happened as she was leaving her shift at work. Someone stuffs snakes inside of a potato chip can and its not a prank. Matt. Live along Queen Village along columbus boulevard. Southbound one lane gets by near queen street. Well check delays on the schuylkill when action news continues on this wednesday morning. Were having a tipoff show. Greta and zanna are going style to style. Plus rachs number one pasta tip. Next rachael. Update on breaking news story. Lets go back live to chopper6 where we have this partial home collapse but it is a total loss. This is along south ruby street in West Philadelphia. All of this came pouring out of the structure onto an empty lot next door which was under construction and as Katherine Scott reported there were some structural deficiencies people noticed here at this house before this happened. The roof is buckled, all their belongings are spread all over the place. And while not as tragic, there was a mural on the side of this building that was part of this love letter series along the market frankford el which obviously was destroyed as well. Two people were inside this home managed to escape without any injuries. Matt pelman we imagine them looking at all their stuff falling out of the side of the house trying to figure out what to do next. What do we do now. So glad theyre okay. Good morning matt and tam. Watching westbound volume build by university avenue. Especially on that offramp its slow and during the midday its going to be slower but on the eastbound side today construction from 9 00 until 3 00 will be eastbound between the vine and this point at university avenue.
