Back to that breaking traffic news you mentioned. A deadly crash on interstate 78 in the Lehigh Valley happened four and a half hours ago on the eastbound side of the crash is still closed. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott is live in hellertown where the ramp to 78 remains blocked to traffic. Katherine. Reporter matt were still waiting for more details from Pennsylvania State police as to exactly what happened in those eastbound lanes this morning but we do know that the coroner was called to the scene and as were standing here on main street, you can see that the entrance to route 78 east is blocked. Hellertown Police Vehicles are positioned in front of the entrance. Cones are set out as well so the drivers dont go in there as they continue this accident investigation. Its about a 5mile closure. This crash happened around 1 00 a. M. On 78 east near the hellertown interchange in lower saucon township. State police local Police Paramedics and fire crews all rushed to the scene. State police say the accident involved at least two vehicles but they have not rehe leased the circumstances of the crash or how many people were involved or their ages. However, multiple injuries were reported. Once again we do know the coroner has been called to the scene. State Police Closed 78 east as they conduct the investigation. Of course then the cleanup will come but theres no word yet on how long exactly the eastbound lanes will remain closed. We are live in hellertown, Katherine Scott, channel6 action news. Tam. The latest one happened on the 1800 block of snyder avenue in south philadelphia around 10 oclock last night. Then another deadly shooting took place in the rear alley of the 5800 block of fernwood in southwest philadelphia at 7 30. And yet another on the 2900 block of north Howard Street in kensington two hours before that. And that case a verizon truck driver rushed the 33yearold victim to the hospital but to no avail. The doctors were not able to save him. Going to a developing story in south jersey. A Church Community is vowing that god is going to get them through a tragedy, a fire that ripped through their place of worship. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live now outside of temple praise ministries in pennsauken. Shes got the full story. Good morning, annie. Reporter good morning, tamala. Members of the church are already out here boarding up windows and doors of the church. The bulk of the damage is actually smoke and water in the basement but look at that structure. We are told by fire officials that that structure is safe, its still standing. Well, take a look at this video though. This fast moving fire broke out just before midnight inside of temple praise ministries. It took about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control. Now, firefighters called a second alarm to bring in extra manpower. That brought in nearly a dozen firefighters. When those firefighters responded, they focused on the basement of the church. And take a look at this video. We went inside. You can see the basement and what is left behind. Firefighters say tables and chairs that were stacked downstairs actually made it tough to maneuver through. The grandson of the founding pastor and the fire chief spoke to us. The church is estimated to be 150 years old. Temple praise ministries has been here for nine years. This church itself, the building can be he rebuilt but the church itself is the people. Its the community, its the togetherness, its the camaraderie that we have and as we come together to worship god and, you know, thats all the church is, you know. Its a very old church. We had a fire here a number of years ago. But its stood test of time and thats test tam to today. To the. , testament to the way its built. Theyll be back in soon enough for sure. The good news is there were no injuries to any firefighters or to any civilians. The cause still remains under investigation. And a standoff came to me a peaceful end in franconia township montgomery county. S. W. A. T. Officers took a 54yearold man into custody late last night. He was barricaded into his home on Bartlett Court for nearly nine hours. The standoff forced surrounding neighbors from their homes. Police say the man was at the center of all this was distress armed and drunk and going through personal issues. A friend of his had called Police Telling them that the man was in a crisis. Were awaiting word on any charges for the man involved. It is 5 35 and new this morning, a federal Appeals Court refused to toss charges against new jersey senator bob menendez. An attorney for the indicted democrat had asked the Third Circuit court of appeals in philadelphia to review a previous ruling that had allowed the indication against menendez to move forward. A judge denied that request yesterday. Menendez is charged with pushing the business interest of a friend and donor in exchange for gifts. Menendez maintains his innocence. Weve got crews blocking the left lane right now and chopper6 headed to the scene on the garden state parkway northbound, a big accident causing problems with a tractortrailer. Other issues around the area here, now we have two accidents on the new jersey turnpike. Right near exit three. So were watching for an accident northbound and weve got an accident southbound thats blocking the left lane. So now one in either direction in a busy area, thats exit three on the new jersey turnpike. A lot of people take that to then get on 42 and you could head anywhere from that coming into the city or whatever so new jersey if that northbound near exit three now weve got an accident in each direction so this latest one just coming in a second ago. We had the southbound one. Now theres a northbound one causing some slowing there. And of course weve been talking about that major accident thats up in that Northampton County blocking 78 eastbound, shut down in both directions between 412 and 33. Watch for. Authorities say mark laquan pain tried to run over three cops at a phoenix gas station yesterday morning. One of the officers was flung 8 feet in the air. It was his first day on the job.
