Good morning, everybody. Were starting out rather cloudy across the region. Theres a chance of a little sprinkle popping through but its going to be very light and quick if you do see it. Some showers down by baltimore. Well keep our eyes on those but those appear to be eroding as they try and head towards the east. Temperatures on the cool side in some of our northern and western suburbs. 37 quakertown, 37 pottstown, 39 in coatesville and saint davids. Were down to 41 in philadelphia. And across the river in south jersey a lot of temperatures ranging from about 40 down to the mid 30s and it looks like low 40s up and down the state of delaware. These numbers are going to improve today, though. 41 degrees by 7 oclock. By noon, all the way up to 58 and were going for a high of 63 degrees this afternoon at about 3 00 or 3 30 before sliding back to 59 by 5 oclock and 55 degrees by 7 oclock. Clouds in the morning will have a tendency to give way to a bit more sunshine during the day and most importantly it is going to be milder with light winds. Even warmer the rest of the work week and into the weekend, karen. Details coming up from accuweather. Im buying what youre selling dave murphy. All right, lets hit the roads right now. Were looking a lot better. The ramp from the schuylkill eastbound to the vine has now reopened. All that construction is cleared. Were seeing traffic move just fine so no problems there but crews will return again 11 oclock and shut the ramp and the vine down in both direction. In the meantime stick to state road instead of victory. And in glen mills Delaware County weve got creek road still shut down near water stock lane. Thats app downed tree thats causing a problem. Stick to middletown road 352 as your alternate to get around that. Over here in East Greenwich township we had an accident here but it is cleared so traffic moving better on the turnpike. Its northbound past exit two. Meanwhile and southbound we do have construction blocking the right lane between exits two and exit one and thats out there for a little while longer. Lets look outside live on 42. No problems here. We are dry and clear on 42 and youre good to go. Matt and tam. Okay, thank you, karen. So, still lots of questions around that collision of two septa trains including what it could mean in terms of any delays for todays commute. Federal investigators are still on the scene and so is action News Reporter Katherine Scott at the 69th Street Transportation Center in upper darby. Good morning, katherine. Reporter good morning, tam. And i spoke to a septa spokesperson this morning and they said that the service this morning should look pretty close to normal here though at this point this route is still out of commission. As you can see crews are still working here. Theyre trying to remove some of these cars from this track. So, instead this morning theyre going have to turn around trains at the terminal. It wont be quite as efficient but they said hopefully customers shouldnt notice the difference. The investigation into what happened continues. Morning rush was under way around 8 10, a collision at 69th street terminal involving three sixcar trains. Seven cars derailed. When i got up here they said the train that i was going to be on was in an accident. Reporter federal investigators were called to the scene in upper darby last night. Septa crews are now working to remove the cars involved which weigh about 37 tons each. Septa Officials Say a moving train on number two loop collided with the rear of a stopped train. The stopped train had been waiting to approach the terminal. The force of the impact pushed the lead car of the moving train outward into the path of a third train on the next track. The operator of the striking strain most seriously injured. Its unclear why his train didnt stop. Septa says the accident is unrelated to issues of cracks recently found in dozens of cars on the market frankford line adding these cars were recently inspected. We will not allow a rain to get on the line that is not safe. Reporter and back here live where the work continues, as far as injuries, two passengers and two septa operators were hurt. One operator remains in the hospital in critical condition. The rest of the injured were treated and released. Its unclear at this point what those two passengers were still doing on the train. They should have gotten off at the platform. Thats all part of this investigation. Were live in upper darby, Katherine Scott, channel6 action news. Back to you. Katherine, thanks. How about mild this afternoon. Pretty good. Yeah, yeah. But tomorrow. We got a note from someone on social media talking about how the mild air is actually not great for farmers because their plants bud and yesterday i posted on facebook, i have daffodils up in my front lawn already. Apparently if it gets colder in march that can kill a lot of those plants and it could be bad news for farmers. Something to keep in mind but most of the reaction i get on social media is pretty positive about this. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now and the we are looking at mainly dry condition. There could be a little sprinkle around here or there and you see a bit of that down in baltimore. And then tomorrow with a ridge of High Pressure off the coast and a cold front still off to the west, were going to get that southerly flow pumping the numbers up to 72 degrees. Thats 26 degrees above average tomorrow. And then we head into friday and it gets even warmer with this patch of warm air that has to make it through before we get on the other side of that front. Once that happens, were going to city a pretty big cool change but record challenging highs for thursday and friday. Looks like we may miss on thursday. Friday we do have a shot at a new record. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, todays highly is 63 degrees, clouds giving way to sun, well above average and then tomorrow, all the way up to 72 with clouds and sun. Record warmth possible on friday with a high of 75. And then on saturday, we get a little bit bumpier with a frontal boundary getting closer to us. There could be a shower around in the morning, the steadier rain probably holds off until later in the afternoon and there could even be a rare february thunderstorm around on saturday afternoon or evening, a high of 72. Then a front comes through and behind that warm air, the cool air zips back in. We get a high of just 46 degrees on sunday, brisk and chilly, lots of sun. Partly sunny monday 48 and tuesday more clouds building in, perhaps an afternoon shower and a high of 52 degrees. Greenwood avenue near 309 right here, were watching for some construction thats causing a problem in cheltenham township in Montgomery County. So you want to watch for the crews out there.
