Welcome to a summertime friday afternoon commute which is never, ever, ever a whole lot of fun. Good afternoon to you, brian and sharrie. Lets start with the unpleasantness that is the schuylkill expressway, i76. Very slow going from gulph mills into this point approaching the conshohocken curve. Remnants of a crash on the shoulder and just plenty of volume in both directions with half hour travel times that ideally should be less than half of that. And weve got problems on 95. Northbound side backed up with single digit speeds from the girard point bridge up to the work zone at girard avenue. There was emergency construction there earlier this afternoon that blocked two lanes for awhile in the work zone. Its gone now so the lanes are opened. Youre back to the normal northbound traffic patterns but the lengthy delay persists with those single digit speeds. And those delays spill back onto the vine street expressway so eastbound side is jammed solid coming across from the schuylkill up to 95. A lot of people use that northeast extension on a friday afternoon in the summertime and this afternoon theres a vehicle fire. Its the southbound direction so not headed toward the poconos but you are getting a northbound gaper delay as well so slow going in both directions around lansdale. Head down the shore via 55, theres a crash there this afternoon southbound approaching mill lil road taking out a lane. I would think about using the a. C. Expressway eastbound instead to the garden state parkway. Just a little slowing there due to the work zone on the southbound parkway. Lets grab the ipad do the commuter report on this friday afternoon heading northbound on 42 near 544 we have a fuel spill taking out one of the lanes. The ride home not a piece of cheesecake this evening. In Hamilton Township Mercer County brian and sharrie, its because of a crash and vehicle fire along 295 just north of olden avenue. We had all the northbound lanes blocked for about 15 minutes. Now theyre letting one lane by but still speeds like 3 Miles Per Hour as you come north of 195. You really warrant to think about using route one or 130 even the new jersey turnpike. 295 in Mercer County is not where you want to be and as you can see its also causing a southbound gaper delay. We can see that live. This is our shot at route 33. Southbound taillights all stacked up headed down toward the northbound accident and vehicle fire scene just north of olden avenue. Now earlier i had mentioned a crash on the way to cape may, maybe southbound side of 55 if you were taking that down the shore, that crash cleared so speeds are looking better there, now in the mid 60s. We had another crash here king of prussia northbound side of 202 approaching the schuylkill. This vehicle was facing sideways until just a minute ago. Now its straightened out but you still have the two right lanes blocked as you head northbound toward the mall with delays coming north of devon. Still some delays but theyre easing on the northeast extension southbound approaching lansdale. That vehicle fire is now gone. Elsewhere on 476 plenty of slowing on the southbound blue route and just south of the blue route along 95 southbound watching a crash there now taking out one lane. Well check it again, sharrie, coming up in the 5 oclock hour. Okay, matt, thank you. Delaware valleys leading news program with jaime apody, meteorologist cecily tynan, Rick Williams and monica malpass. Looking live outside, its a warm and humid afternoon around the region after a wet start to the morning. Now were watching for some scattered storms. The action cam was out in center city this morning, one of the many areas around the Delaware Valley getting a soaking today. But there is a Silver Lining to all of this unsettled weather. Were shaping up for a beautiful summer weekend. It is friday night. Monica is off. Sharrie williams is joining us and the big story on action news is that accuweather forecast. Meteorologist cecily tynan now watching double scan radar. Shes at the big board with more. Hi, cecily. Hi, sharrie. Hi rick. Right now we are dry out there. Its nice to see the sunshine. Double scan live showing if you look at this, your eye is drawn to whats happening across the ohio valley into west virginia. You can see a vicious line of storms, this though is all heading to the south. This is going to miss us. So what im tracking is this line of some scattered thunderstorms rolling across central pennsylvania. Its just to the west of harrisburg right now. I think this will actually weaken but some of these likely will survive the trip over the mountains and will bring us some showers and thunderstorms this evening so this is what to expect. Between about 6 oclock and 10 oclock this evening, a broken line of storms. It means not everyone will get them. Those who do though could deally with locally gusty winds heavy downpours and we do have a chance of some isolated severe weather. I dont think well see anything all that widespread but now that weve got the sunshine back after that dark and wet morning, its pretty warm out there. Its pretty humid as well. Currently philadelphia 85 degrees. Its 90 in washington, d. C. Dewpoints are in the mid 60s
