It claimed the life of a 14yearold boy. Students heading in George Reed Middle School the morning after losing a classmate. 14yearold tyler span was a seventh grader at the school that his sister also attended. Its a tough loss for us, well pull together for tyler and his sister. Shortly before 3 00, police say that tyler and Three Friends were trying to cross the route 13 and basin road. He stepped in front of a toyota camry and tyler was hit and thrown. He was pronounced dead in the hospital. The driver remained at the scene and the other teens made it across and were not injured. They were a quarter mile away from the pedestrian foot bridge. We have a support system in place so the counselors and staff were ready. They came from around the district to help the support staff with the grieving students. Tyler was a special kid. Every day he came in with his black and white bucket hat. In his honor many students showed up with cool bucket hats. Investigators dont believe that drugs or alcohol was a factor in this crash. A Delaware County family got a scare when police knocked down their doors as part of a major drug sweep. Police arrested more than 100 people in what is being dubbed Operation Spring cleaning. The police knocked down the door of one house, natasha richardson. With guns drawn, richardson says that things escalated when the officer tried to get into one of her childrens bedroom. I said my kids are in here and they were like maam call the dogs off and i look on the grown and there is my son, my 14yearold, they left him there and they were like. Oh that is not him. Darby officials plan to reach out to richardson to apologize and assure that damages are taken care of. It happened at north 56th street in strawberry mansion. Four people were taken to the hop in serious but stable condition. A man managed to escape an overnight house fire in the frankford section, the blaze broke out at the 4300 block of paul street. It started on the first floor of a twin home and the man inside was able to get out safely and no word on what sparked the blaze. A two month long investigation in Montgomery County ended with arrests and the seizure of drugs and cash. They announced the results today that stopped an alleged drug ring that involved cocaine, heroin and pills. Investigators say the targets were Julian Gonzales and matthew mcgovern. More than 110,000 in drugs were seized. As it turned out an unacontinueded truck was just that. Out of precaution the police and bomb squad was called in to investigate the truck. It was near the naval supply depot and after officials determined the truck was not a threat. Traffic in the area went back to normal. Philadelphia water crews were called overnight to deal with a water main break in the citys winfield section, water was bubbling up from the ground at belmont avenue at 3 00 a. M. Officials from the Philadelphia Water Department say it was caused by a leaking involve and the main was shut off but no businesses were affected. Traffic was able to get by. A Baltimore Police officer shot a 13yearold boy, carrying what looked like a gun but turned out to be a replica pistol. Baltimores Police Commissioner says that when two officers identified themselves the boy ran away and the officers caught up with the team and ordered him to drop the gun and when he did not one officer shot him in the leg. The commissioner says there is no reason to believe that the officers acted inappropriately. Minnesota Authorities Say that prince had prescription pain killers in his possession when he died however they cannot yet say if the medications played a role in his death. The Drug Enforcement agency is brought in for assistance. Tmz reported that prince was treated for the overdose of the drug percocet prior to his death.
