Action news at 5 00 continues now with breaking news from manhattan a raging fire and Apartment Building collapse in the east village, we know that at least 12 people were injured and four of those are said to be in Critical Condition and the Fire Department elevated this to seven alarms that means all hands on deck. This started at 3 15 in the east village section of manhattan some kind of explosion happened in the basement of a japanese restaurant and five to ten minutes later the front facade and to apartment floors next door collapsed and ten minutes after that, both buildings erupted into flames. Here is what one of the buildings residents had to say. Glass blew across the street people injured all the way across. There were some Good Samaritans helping them and a woman trapped on her fire escape and they helped her get down and one guy after helping her ran off and it was starting to smoke and checking each apartment and the cops showed up and it started smoking heavily and flames ultimately. There are more than 100 firefighters on the scene and they are trying to keep the flames at bay and this is still a search and rescue operation witnesses say they smelled natural gas in the air while this was happening.
