Now to the latest on the deadly crash of that new Jersey Transit train in hoboken. Today investigators revealed they spoke to the trains engineer about what was going on just before the crash and that is not all. Action News Reporter Jeannette Reyes in the Satellite Center with more on the briefing. This investigation so far has proven to be much more complicated than many expected. One black box was recovered, however, it was not operating during the time of this crash. Now there is another black box but it is trapped underneath tons of debris that threatened the integrity of any remaining evidence. Our signals group found no signal anominallys for the signal system leading to the terminal. Days in the investigation the National Investigation safety board has yet to find much of anything to lead them to a cause for thursdays commuter train crash in hoboken new jersey but have been confronted with a series of hurdles one of which is simply getting access to the evidence. It is a slow and methotical process because unfortunately the train has come to rest at a point where three structures have come together. The train shed, the canopy system and the historical building. Investigators were able to retrieve one of two of that data recorders or black boxes but hopes for valuable information were quickly dashed. Unfortunately the event reporter was not functioning during this trip. In an interview the trains engineer Thomas Gallagher started work at 6 45 in the morning and felt fully rested and his cell phone was off and in his backpack. No memory of the accident and remembers waking up on the floor of the cab. Gallagher says he was traveling at 10 Miles Per Hour when he went in the station that still needs to be confirmed though and that information may be buried away in this second black box still trapped under the debris. We are hopeful that that will have information that will be functioning. The one that was not working was built in 1995 that is quite an old event data recorder. Right now contractors are working around the clock to try and retrieve that black box and of course the hope is one the debris doesnt damage the black box and it was rolling and operating at the time of this accident. Humane society in the midatlantic rescued those dogs from south korea where they were being raised to become food for humans.
