That wont be the last time that bill cosby will be asked a question like that, especially now that it is official. It was decided today in norristown, will he stand trial for sexual assault. It is tuesday night and the big story on action news tonight is a judges ruling that now sends bill cosby to court. He will face charges of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand at his cheltenham home in 2004. Action News Reporter chad pradelli is live outside Montgomery County court in norristown where this legal drama will play itself out. Chad . Yeah, jim, you know dozens of women have come forward with similar allegations that cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them. But for most of the victims they havent been able to get him into criminal court, mainly because the statute of limitations had run out. Well today has to be a bit of relief for all those women as cosby is now going to trial on one count of sexual assault. Outside of the courtroom, bill cosby raised his arm to his supporters. Inside, his Defense Attorneys tried to attack the credibility of his alleged victim, Andrea Constand. It was determined and presented that these parties had three separate intimate encounters. And in one lied sidebyside in a bed. Prosecutors spent the hearing presenting prior statements to the police by constand and the comedian in 2005. In them, she claimed cosby gave her three blue pills and some wine, and soon was paralyzed and not able to speak. And he then allegedly sexually assaulted her. The attorneys argue that constand should have had to testify, which would have provided them a chance to crossexamine her. She was available to testify at trial under the case law as we presented and the judge ruled in our favor, it wasnt necessary. Its a preliminary hearing. Hearsay is admissible. And cosbys attorney say constand statement is riddles with discrepancy, and questions if she was sexually assaulted, why did she have further contact with him. After, and i stress after this socalled incident the complainant continued to contact mr. Cosby, accepted a dinner invitation from mr. Cosby, the complainant returned to mr. Cosbys home. Prosecutors say that constand was available for todays preliminary hearing, but she was not in the courtroom. No trial date has been set. Live in norristown, chad pradelli channel 6 action news.
