Paul orlousky went to avon lake and got the whole story. Reporter frigid temperatures two years ago created fragile ice at the avon water plant. The flow slowed and never stopped. And emergency measures were taken with portable pumps placed in holes chopped through ice. It was a heroic effort and it hurt. It was a close call, one that no one wants to repeat. It is clear wells. Storage of finished water about to go to customers. It is a project hard to ignore. A gaping hole in the ground across the street from the power plant 20 feet deep and they held school buses and 143 would fit. The project takes 16,000 tons of concrete and 750 tons of rebar or 1. 4 Million Pounds and price tag of 20 million. To give you an idea of the scope of the project going on for months it wont be completed this week. And 3 million glans of water stored here.
