The florida mall south of sand lake road and east of Orange Blossom trail. How did this all start . Reporter good evening, thats a hard question to answer at this point. Still a very early investigation. You can see behind me here florida mall, still a very active investigation, though its fairly new, taking place just three hours ago. The Orange County Sheriffs Office telling us deputies were called to the j. C. Penney in reference to a man who appeared to be dead. This incident involved two black males, one of which has died and the other is currently in surgery right now. It just so happened that there was a deputy on scene at the j. C. Penney, investigating a shoplifting incident at the mall, when all this took place. That deputy said she did not before this incident happened. But it appears this whole incident just so happened to take place outside of the mall. Investigators at this point dont believe at this point that there is a connection between the shooting and the mall outside of its location. They dont know if theres any connection between the two people, either. We believe at this point that the shooting happened somewhere in the parking lot, that the parking lot seemed to be the real estate where this incident happened. It was sort of unrelated to florida mall, but just thats where the location was. One of the victims obviously was dead there, but the other one ran to the entrance of j. C. Penneys, must have flagged down a citizen, and that citizen called 911. Reporter a lot of Unanswered Questions taking place at 7 20 this evening, barely three hours ago. Investigators fresh on this scene, trying to figure out what happened. A lot of people who are in the anything happen and that everything was going on as normal. They actually didnt know anything happened until they stepped out of the mall and saw the police car and the media investigating. Well have the latest on this as it develops right here at 11 00. Sonni we have a health alert tonight as well. The mosquito borne zika virus is in Central Florida, a new case in Osceola County. This is in addition to other reported cases in santa rosa, hillsborough, lee, miamidade, broward and st. Johns counties. The state dealing with tease 14 cases right now. Governor rick scott declared a health emergency. Bob people who get the virus usually get a mild fever, skin rash, but it is also being linked to microenselfie, smaller heads in babies as well as brain damage. Prevent Health Department officials from giving us a lot of information about the individual who has the zika virus, but we do know the person did not acquire the virus in florida. Scientists are studying mosquitoes to learn more about the zika virus and its possible impact on unborn babies as more cases turn up in florida. Osceola county is now the sixth county in our state with the zika virus case. The first one in our area. There are now 14 known patients in florida. You are very concerned because you dont know exactly what it is, the disease. Danielle from brazil says people there have been worried about the virus for the last few months as more cases turn up. I have my baby with people and i hope nothing comes bad, but you really dont know. Administrator of the Florida Department of health in Osceola County says none of the 14 patients got the virus here. None of them have. Its from people who have been none of them have been acquired here in florida. Reporter state Health Officials say none. 14 patients are pregnant women. Health Officials Say your best defense against the zika virus is to focus on not getting bitten by a mosquito in the first place. That includes draining, standing water from your yard where the mosquitoes can breed, and of course wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants, and using those mosquito sprays to protect you around dusk and dawn. Just be spring has not vigilant about your surroundings and what you can do to ensure your own safety. Doctors say the symptoms often include a fever, a rash, and joint pain. It is said it is possible we could see more cases in Central Florida. People travel, travel to other countries and come back, and obviously theres a potential there could be other cases. If there are women in Central Florida who are pregnant and virus, they should call their doctors and get advice, they can even be tested. Governor scott is asking the cdc for 1,000 kits that allow doctors to test for zika virus antibodies to help protect floridas 20 million residents and 100 million visitors a year. Authorities say that fisher pulled out a gun and shot at the owner several times. Pausingly, that owner survived. A second man was hurt as well when a bullet went through the wall into a business next door. William ebron junior told investigators where he put the body after he claims that the the boys mother, 26yearold lana barton previously pleaded guilty to child neglect. Bob we are following some breaking news now out of lake county. A body was found in a parking lot of a Publix Grocery store in clermont. Tracy jacim live at the store, which is located on state road 50. Tracy, whats the latest there . Reporter you can see behind me, we have quite a scene going on. Ill step out of the way. Quite a few tickets on scene, both lake county Sheriffs Office and Clermont Police because it was a really bizarre find. The store still open, publix stays open till 10 00 on county road 455, and someone saw someone laying in the parking a 911 call was made. They said there was a gunshot wound, a victim, and it turned out that man was dead. According to Sergeant Strickland with the Clermont Police department, they dont know a whole lot at that point. He tells me that the victim was a blake male, a younger black male. There was one witness. And according to Sergeant Strickland, that witness saw a white car leaving the area, but police really dont know at this point what involvement that car had. Was it the shooter . Maybe. Was it just a witness who didnt want to be involved . Possibly. But at the end of the day what you got is a dead guy in the parking lot of the publix friday night at 9 00. Reporter parents at the high school found an automated voice message on their phones, a warning from the school principal. That one of our students has been diagnosed with a respiratory illness commonly known as the whooping cough. Privacy laws prevent the school from releasing much information on the student but we know from the Health Department when he was symptomatic, he wasnt in school. Reporter because of that, Health Officials are more concerned about the students contact at home. Whooping cough is spread by droplets, so longer periods of exposure to someone infected as they cough, sneeze, kiss you, touch you or share utensils or drinking glasses, increases your odds of contracting it. But because it can be extremely dangerous and even fatal to some in the population, in particular infants, Health Officials are exhaustive in their attempts to prevent its spread. Parents of the students who are in that individuals class were notified to lack out for symptoms for the next 21 days. Most individuals will become symptomatic anywhere between 10 meant symptoms include a persistent hard cough often with a whistle but not always. A runny nose, sneezing, sore throat and lowgrade fever. A blood test or throat swab can be used to diagnose.
