The mta says additional work is still leased to be done on hamsa, west hempstead, long, long beach and far rockaway branches. Those will not be running this morning. They are advising commuters to use alternate branches or service will be restored. Be only partial service. Over the weekend lirr was suspended, we do have some pictures to show you. 2000 workers spent most of the week and digging out tracks and equipment from over 2 feet of snow. There was stranded trains are frozen switches which made it difficult to get cleanup equipment to where it was needed. Even though crews work through the night to get things on frozen switches and tracks prepare for service re froze because of cold temperatures. We have been talking to commuters and they are frustrated by the situation. I have to make a decision come either go home or driving to new york because the railroad does this all the time, they live. They tell us 5 00 a. M. And everyone was out here and now theyre telling us 7 00 a. M. Very disappointing. The news reports tell you theyre operating at 5 00 a. Ben let me ask you about pickup and dropoff. The mayor suspended alternate side parking all week including parking and no school zones. So cars parked in school zones can stay there so what precautions are you taking. Clear spot where students can get from the curb from the street to the sidewalk and kids can get safely on and off the buses. We have bus coordinators who greet the students at the bus and ensure they get safely off the bus each morning. The concern about alternate side parking is we want to make sure people are not digging the snow out of the curbside and putting it back on the street which would make it more difficult for buses to get kids to school. Ben ally came out this morning, there had been a path cut where i live in manhattan for the corner and the plows came through overnight that was blocked. It might take longer for kids to get to school this morning, should they be tardy will there be any excuse they are or not . We do anticipate delays and extra time to get to school. The lateness will not count against any children. Be safe, we want want families to take the time to get to School Safely and there will not be consequences of children are late.
