Theres an area of low pressure just offshore, and thats whats bringing in those showers for you, and primarily suffolk county, stony brook, solid showers there up near the National Weather Service Office and out to the east, thats where we have seen the biggest showers and storms, and thats where they continue for the time being. Everyone else, light stuff here. Still, a little bit of wet weather to deal with for the morning. Long island, nassau county, still have some showers to go out there as well. But theres another line of showers thats lined up well to our northwest at this point in time, but we are expecting more of that rain to slide into the tristate region later on once we time. 61 at central park at this point, 60 at islip, most of us are a decent amount warmer than 24 hours ago. Its a 12degree jump out at newark, 4 degrees warmer out at central park. Mostly cloudy sky in the tristate. This is the second cold front thats going to combine and bring in our next round of showers. I dont think its going to be a big deal, but there will be some wet weather in the afternoon hours and into the evening. Then thatll be it for a little while. We go up to 72 for a high and some showers into the afternoon and evening. Tomorrow we make it up to 68 for a high with partly cloudy skies, 63 on thursday and 64 on friday. For those of us who grew up with it and maybe were just like a little upset about it, things are going to change. Youre really upset by this . Well, i think it made women feel uncomfortable. You know, rosanna, now it looks quaint, passe. Compared to whats online . Yes. Major announcement in the New York Times, theyre getting rid of the nude section in playboy magazine. The ceo ran this by hugh hefner and said, okay, i see your point here. Things have changed. Lets go to carrie drew. She just checked out the old playboy club, actually. Were with here outside a newsstand, but we did swing by. Well show you some of the pictures in just a little bit. The end of an era for playboy magazine. Big changes. Were outside the xl newsstand on third avenue in murray hill. You can see this months edition of playboy just on the shelf behind the vanity fair with Caitlin Jenner on the cover. Starting in march, no longer will there be fullynude women. Executives told the New York Times its all part of an redesign effort for the magazine. Women just wont be fully nude. Playboys circulation has dropped from 5. 6 million in 1975 to about 800,000 today. It seems the internet has played a big role in this. The companys chief executive told the times, quote, youre now just one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. We talked to a couple of people this morning about these big changes for the magazine. Had a guy who used to baby them. So when he would go away, i would sneak a peek, and that would be it. Nothing more than that. I dont know who reads you have the internet now. Everything is in video format, so people would rather see something thats moving as opposed to still pictures. I guess its the same as every other magazine thats going under. You would think nude photos would be more sensationalized and there would be more of a drive towards those magazines, but im not surprised when you can just go online and see anything. Playboy has been a big part of American Culture for decades. The magazine launched in 1953, and following the popularity of the magazine, playboy clubs opened in the 1960s including one on 59th street here in new york city right near fifth avenue. It closed in 1982, we did swing by there this or miles an hour willing, no sign playboy ever was there. They sent us a press release to fox 5 this morning, executives say playboy will continue its tradition of Investigative Journalism and indepth interviews and there will still be, quote, sexy, seductive pictorials of beautiful women. Even as you make your way back in toward riverhead, some pretty solid rain in through there, then it breaks up in nassau county. East and connecticut are the heavier showers at this point. This is round one of the showers as an area of low pressure passes by offshore and gets you that rainfall. Theres another cold front thats coming in the later. As far as temps go, 6 is in central park and belmar 61. Theres that area of low finish that has kicked up the showers and storms in the eastern sections of the tristate. But weve got a break in between, then that cold front afternoon. With that passing by, were going to be at risk for more rain, but this line doesnt look like its going to be producing a whole heck of a lot in terms of rainfall. Theres now a second lane in the process of being opened. This is on the northbound side of the deegan at the beginning of deegan, so where that placement is, this affects not only the southbound bruckner expressway, but its also affecting the rfk triboro bridge. Delays on the bruckner back to ant the area of the bronx River Parkway and delays up onto the rfk triboro pretty much to the queens side. We dont see these delays disappearing anytime soon. It sounds out of left field, but researchers out of harvard have potentially paved the way for in the future using pig organs for human transplants. This is a big deal because for many different organ, the transplant list is very long and people, unfortunately, die waiting for muchneeded organs. We do use parts of pigs already, for example, heart valves, but for actual organs theres been an issue of the human body rejecting it because its from a different species. Now researchers are finding ways to genetically edit the gene ares of the pig organ so they would not be rejected by the human body. This is still years away from actually having actual transplants, but it is considered a big breakthrough because by genetically modifying these pig cells, they are able to be transplanted into humans and potentially not have an immune reaction. Very big deal for people in this field and hopefully will pave the way for actually using pig organs so we can get those waiting list times down. Obviously, people need organ transplants. I dont know whats worse, thinking about getting it from a pig or getting it from a human . Well, definitely, how about a human . A human, your bodys its less likely. Less likely but still its deceased. Yes. And thats always a sad story. In medical school there was always this very surreal thing when you get a call at three a. M. , and theres always a tragedy involved because someone has recently died, and at the same time youre saving someones life because youre giving them an organ. Its a very difficult situation, and, first of all, Organ Donation is extremely i signed my license. That is great. I have as well. Its so important. I dont know who would want my organs. So just both directions that slowdown. George washington bridge, on the upper level 45 minutes this morning, 30 on the lower. Lincoln tunnel, its a 45minute delay coming off the turnpike, exclusive bus lanes are moving fine but just heard of an accident on route 3 as youre approaching 495 right when you go underneath that overpass involve aring two trucks and a car, so that puts you down to one lane instead of two.
