Heavy smoke and flames when firefighters first arrived here. Thats what they saw about 2 00 this morning. Two houses and three garages have been destroyed in the fire. Agthain, neighbors describing heavy flames. And it didnt help that it was so windy. Fire investigators are concentrating on work being done in one of the garages, that it might be the spot as to where the fire started. Right now, were taking a look at it, it looked like they were doing Water Repairs in the we recovered four propane cylinders from the rear. And again, its under investigation, but we are looking to see could have possibly started in the rear of the buildings. Reporter as big as this fire was, no one, no civilians were injured. But there were six firefighters who had minor injuries as chief gala describes strains and sprains to those firefighters. They will recover. Just a handful of foreigners and crew on that plane. Officials tell us that the hijacker wanted to go to istanbul but the pilot says theres not enough fuel. He said there were heavy flames and he ran for his life. Some other neighbors grabbed their children and got out of their homes. When firefighters first arrived here about 2 00 this morning, there were heavy flames and smoke. Two houses and three garages have been severely damaged in this fire. There were embers flying in the air and it didnt help firefighters trying to extinguish the flames. Its still windy right now. Fire investigators are concentrating on auto body work being done in one of the garages where it might be where the fire started. There were propane tanks in those, but they did not explode. Neighbors describe a frantic scene. I saw the smoke and fire of the house. We ran back in, got my roommates, we all came rung out the wind did play a role. As you can see out here, the winds have kicked up. Temperatures are fairly warm, but the wind certainly played a factor. New this morning, a man wanted in the shooing deaths of a mother and death in Staten Island has been caught in pennsylvania. A Fugitive Task force apprehended 49yearold Anthony Morales in hamburg. Police say he shot and killed 21yearold Anthony Rivera and his mother last thursday. New this morning, were getting a look at some of the damage left behind by strong winds that blew through this area. Long island. In fact, one tree fell on top of a car parked on emwood avenue. And in deer park, a broken tree damaged power lines on west 5th street. In brooklyn now, a person walking by a construction site, this is in sunset park, was hit by a piece of flying wood. Were told that the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition but in marine park, the wind caused a tree to fall over on power lines. No outages reported there, but outages s s elsewhere in the area. Including 350 coned customers. It was rough last night. It was. Fortunately now, the wind will be slowly stepping down over the next few hours but the still gusty out there. We still have that wind advisory in fact in parts of the area. Investigators say he walked into a bathroom at a greenwich bar saturday night and fondled and sexually assaulted a woman and then allegedly left and returned and fondled that same woman again. A man from argentina felt sick and checked him into knew yolk hospital where he died. The cdc will not say which airline or airport or the route the man took but say theyre reaching out to fellow passengers. Rockland Officials Say theres no cause for alarm and people with close contact are being treated with medication pop.
