Update on a police chase that ended with a rude awakening for a driver from brooklyn ran a police. It ended when the car crashed into a house in paramus. Ray villeda spoke with witnesses. We just heard a thud and the police yelling. Reporter the loud thud was the sound of a small car crashing into a house. It woke up the homeowners and the paramus neighborhood as police ran to catch the suspect. They have one son that he actually woke them up from what i gather. Heard it. And they didnt. Living in a busy intersection, is this something you worry about . Not really. Reporter it all started in neighboring saddle brook saturday morning. Officers tried to pull over the car after going through a red light. Instead, police say, the driver took off leading them on a chase that ended in this crash. The passengers stayed in the car afterwards while the Driver Police say theyre looking into possible fraudulent credit card use. Investigators are still trying to find out what sparked a fire that destroyed a new jersey deli. That was where ray was yesterday morning. Firefighters say the flames erupted in this kitchen area at prime foods on anderson avenue in cliffside park. The smoke could be seen from the west side highway. The flames eventually caused the roof of the building to cave in. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Dozen people homeless after a destructive fire in bayonne. Flames went through a threestory house on avenue e and quickly spread to a house next door. It broke out after 10 30 yesterday morning and burned for hours. A passerby warned them the building was on fire. They grabbed what they could and rushed outside. Everybody started screaming and house is on fire. We ran out of the house. How bad was this fire . We can enjoy and still lose weight, lower your Blood Pressure and cholesterol, ease aches and pains. I love it. Health fieed. I dont want to give up brownies. How can you make a brownie taste good with black beans in it . Youve done it. Youve laid it out, have picture of the not so great thing. The junk food. And then joy food. Looks more appetizing. Its amazing to see when you taste the foods, even though theyre so much slimmer, a fraction of the original junk food calories, you still have the traditional classic flavors. Its doable. If the picture, believe me, is worth a thousand bites. This is mac and cheese. 1310 calories. Thats when you get when you order mac and cheese in a restaurant. Its a pile of starchy noodles, butter, milk, cream, full fat cheese. The joy food version, just with a few swaps, a full cup and a half is only 419 calories. All i did was used whole grain pasta, i did reduced fat dairy and a dry mustard, hot sauce, soy sauce, all these out of the box flavor and ingredients come together and its indulgent and creamy. Real mac and cheese. The soy sauce. Never heard that one. I played around with ingredients until i nailed it. When i say nailed it, my daughter who is an addict had to give it a fivestar rating. She did. It took me a few tries, but what you saw up there i think its top notch. Lets talk about the next recipe. Chicken parm. Its egg and breadcrumbs in a vat of oil, its fried. This is about 1,000 calories. Thats before you consider the pasta. This is the junk food version. Check out mine. This is the joy food version. Looks the same. All i have done is grilled or baked up breaded chicken and topped it with lots of delicious sauce, hard skin mozzarella cheese and oregano. Its delicious. This version is only 310 calories. Pat, you know what, you have a lot of room now for pasta. Yes and whole grain, of course. Absolutely. The joy food way. You have a recipe for one of my favorite, pizza. A slice of new york, about 500 calories. There or meatballs. My version is only 172 calories for the whole pie. This is very cool. All i do is take a whole grain tortilla and i toast it under the broiler for four minutes. I top it with cheese and whatever toppings that you want, put vegetables and all sorts of seasonings on that, melt it auto i gooey, you could eat two. If youre hungry, you could eat three and still feel valiant. Who eats one slice of pizza ever, right . This, since its 7 00 in the morning, when you go to a diner and you get a stack of pancakes, which we love, with some butter and syrup, about 750 calories. Its going to skyrocket your blood sugar. This version, my joy version, i call them protein pancakes, this is only 275 calories for the stack and its got 20 grams of protein. Keep you feeling full for hours afterwards. This is the easiest recipe ever. Just oats, some egg whites, a dash of vanilla extract. A little bit of sugar. I dont want people to have to put syrup on top and ground cinnamon. Thats it. Top it with fresh fruit. Youve got a beautiful, nutritious and delicious, i want a bite. Eat the brownie. I was holding out for that. Im swapping calories, im going for the brownies. Picture of these peoples lives, which hes so good on the details of their lives, their families, their struggles and also, as i say, with the statistics. Its a hilarious, magnificent, wonderful tour of this strange and wonderful country where hes talking about the danger, for example of cow attacks which makes the news in britain. Its a problem there. Its a lovely book. You will laugh on every page and love spending time with bill brison. Finally, a doubters almanac. Hes from kay nan. Emperor of the arrow owe hes a medical doctor who is also a writer. He doesnt practice as a doctor. This is a doubters almanac will a math me tags tigs, a bril yapt mathematician and the legacy of his brilliance and his problems as a father, as a husband. Hes a terrible man in so many ways, although hes a tortured genius. I love the innovative structure of it and the way the story is fold told of the father and then by the son, so that the relationships in this family come to a fore. There are formulas on the page. Im always fascinated by a main character who is so despicable that you hate him at every turn and yet you cannot stop reading about him. Really is best at doing. The deadly accident happened at about 1 30 this morning. Police say they are looking for a blas suv but right now, that is all they have to go on. They say that driver hit cop contreras and took off. There are streetlights on the entrance here. There are two signs that say turn your headlights on. Its not clear if that driver had trouble seeing the victim. A former Rikers Island prisoner says it was easy to smuggle in a phone and take video. Speaking only to the news 4 iteam. As Chris Glorioso reports, the videos raise questions approximate how secure rikers you are looking at a city jail cell from a point of view rarely seen. Inmates are not allowed to have phones. Theyre considered dangerous contraband. These cell phone videos were taken by a prisoner who said it was absurdly easy to walk this iphone 6 into Rikers Island. If it wasnt a phone and it was a weapon, it would have turned out worse. The former prisoner asked us not to reveal his identity. He has another criminal case and fears reprisal if he ends up back in jail. This video was taken in a holding cell outside court. He took this video, he says once he was transferred to rikers. He even points the lens at this corrections officer when he turns his back. Why are you speaking out about how easy it was to get this cell phone inside rikers . I want everybody, taxpayers to see this. Were paying for them to do nothing. We sent the video to the new York City Department of corrections. They said they take the allegations seriously. A week after receiving the videos, d. O. C. Investigators could not confirm this is actually a Rikers Island holding cell. Court records confirm the prisoner was jailed at Rikers Island. When inmates have cell phones with them, theyre not using it to call mom on mothers day. The department of investigation commissioner mark peters says jails have made progress in detecting contraband with new training and protocols. Last year guards confiscated 21 more contraband than the year before. Cell phone recoveries were down 13 . Would you say a cell phone is just as dangerous as a weapon . A cell phone in one sense can be even more dangerous than a weapon because the cell phone allows you to communicate undetected. Contraband cell phones can get weapons in, can get drugs in, can get alcohol in. This is the ceo of berkeley of a new jersey detection systems. He does not supply city jails but hardware like this could help rid them i hid a phone on my person and this detector easily found it. The light shows the phone was stashed somewhere below my ankle and it was. The d. O. C. Owns several phone detectors. Theyre made by another company. Theyre in the process of buying ten more. But its not clear how this cell phone slipped through. Seems like somebody didnt do their job. City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley chairs the committee overseeing Rikers Island. She says the videos demonstrate a failure by jail guards but also demonstrate a tired workforce. Theyre overworked. Many of them are forced to not only double shifts but sometimes triple shifts.
