Its not a big deal in New Hampshire. Well show you where there could be an accumulation, as well as we get to watch for a change and watch everybody else pile up the snow today. Amy josh will be right back with his forecast and then it means so much for me being back on the bike, able to do this. Amy remarkable recovery, a man nearly killed by a truck eight months ago is getting stronger now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Josh good morning, its a chilly morning out there. If youre headed out early, you need to bundle up. Nothing that you wouldnt expect in january, but its in the teens in southern New Hampshire. Farther north, north of the notches, were at 8 degrees below zero in whitefield and berlin. Look the a the temperatures on top of Mount Washington though, 12 above. One of the warmest spots around milder, warmer air in the upper atmosphere as part of that system moving in from the south. All right, the winds fairly light out there right now coming out of the north. 5 to 10 Miles Per Hour. As we go through the day this afternoon and evening theyll pick up a little bit. We are going to see the winds gusting 15 to 20 Miles Per Hour and overnight to tomorrow, they could gust higher coming out of the north, 15, 30, and breezy and calming down a little bit. Thats, of course, part of the watching. Right now over the Granite State is clouds, you head farther north and thats partly cloudy. Thats the case throughout the cloudy in southern New Hampshire, closer to the storm. The farther north, the more you go, the more sun you will see at times. Now, well widen the view enough to show you the periphery of the system and the heavy snow is over long island, new york city and many points to the south, including washington d. C. , states getting a lot of snow out there, several feet possible, feet possible in many of these areas you see here in pink and even a blizzard warning in washington d. C. Up to new york city. But as we look at the rest of the nation. Here is a big picture of that storm, not a whole lot else going on, meaning pretty quiet rest of the week for us. Cold air has spread down into northern florida with temperatures in the 20s. All right, lets take a look at futurecast here, for the day today, again, more sun to the north, more clouds to the south and here is how close the snow gets. Southern, southeastern New Hampshire, some light snow or flurries, its possible this is where it may be accumulating very little amounts. Its possible a little farther north, farther west, you could see some flurries at times as well. For sunshine, tomorrow, bright and breezy on the way for tomorrow. In terms of where we could see flurries, possible anywhere up toward keene. Yeah, you can see some light flurry or snow at times, in terms of accumulating, thats probably only something possible in areas from maybe new ipswich to nashua, along the mass, new coast. Thats it. You get down to the southern parts of new england, you can see higher amounts. Cape cod, south shore, boston could see half a foot to as much as a foot. Here, light snow or flurries a possibility, a coating to an inch in just a few spots of southern, southeastern New Hampshire and the rest of us stay dry. Tomorrow, bright and breezy and milder, it gets milder monday and tuesday, fairly quiet week ahead as you can see here with south. Its hard to believe were getting virtually nothing out of it. I mean, of course, after last winter, we deserve a little bit of a break, were left out of the party completely so far. Hello, were up here. Im Hillary Clinton and i approve this message. No one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Im amy coveno. We begin with a live look along the seacoast. Hour. Here is a look at top stories on the half hour. Right now the snow continues to a chance up to two feet or more. A blizzard warning remains in effect as the National Weather Service Warns it expects a combination of heavy snow, strong winds and potentially life threatening conditions through tonight. And live at meredith, the snow has held off with nothing, but a chance of a few flakes ahead. There are several flight delays and cancellations at the government Regional Airport, stay tuned for that. With less than three weeks until the first of the nation primary, candidates from both sides of the aisle are elbow to elbow at events around the state this weekend. Well get to the stories and more, first, lets check with josh judge with a look at todays forecast. Hi, josh. Yeah, were certainly seeing heavy snow to the south, but here in the Granite State, its cloudy to partly cloudy depending where you are and a cold one, eight below zero at the notches and teens around 20s and everywhere else. Its the cold air in part thats keeping it to the south like it doesnt want to come up here with High Pressure and dry, cold air overhead. Some clouds made it in, and spreading northward. As you go through the day today. Well see the most clouds south and sun north. Thats a look at the weather system from afar. You can see its heaviest up to new york city. In terms of accumulations, just minor are expected here, as you can see parts of southern and southeastern New Hampshire, you could see minor accumulations, a trace to an inch and some areas farther north and west of there, light flurries at time. More details on the forecast ahead and a look how the patriots will be faring with weather tomorrow. Thats coming up in a few minutes. Winter weather wallops washington, the Nations Capital is projected to get up to two feet of snow. Sally kidd joins us from d. C. With the latest on the conditions. Its been snowing for 17 hours straight and right now, just kind of a moderate band of were on a sidewalk in downtown d. C. , just a few blocks from the white house. And the snow is accumulating, depending where you standing, the National Weather service says we can expect snow to accumulate late at about one to two inches per hour, with about 20 to 30 inches by the time this is over with on sunday morning. Now, weve got really treacherous conditions out here. The snowplows have been trying to keep up, trying to clear the roads as much as possible and get ahead of the snow. And its kind of a losing battle and its especially going to get difficult as this blizzard intensifies throughout the day. Another factor is just the show here right now, weve got some pretty dry fluffy snow, thats going to turn into wet, heavy snow and thats going to do a number on power lines and tree branches, so were expecting to outages, this is going to be all day, into saturday night and sunday morning kind of event. Reporting from washington, im sally kidd. Amy New Hampshire got a pass from this winter blast, thousands of flights are canceled across the country because of it. Here is a live look at the flights in and out of the manchester, boston Regional Airport, lots of red on the board. Many flights have been canceled and multiple delays due to the storm. The driver was a 20yearold man from rhode island. This crash does remain under investigation. To commitment 2016 coverage, the iowa first in the nation primary, its right around the corner. Many candidates are taking to the Granite State. Hillary clinton spent part of the evening on friday at the 43rd anniversary of supreme courts 1973 roe vs wade decision, of course, legalizing abortion. Clinton has been endorsed by pro choice america and last night pointed out where the stakes couldnt be higher in an vowing to defund planned parenthood. All Women Deserve to have access to Health Services and choices theyre entitled to. It should not be that some, who are fortunate economically, can access their rights, while all others are left behind. Amy today nom senators Jeanne Shaheen and soucy and marty walsh kick off campaigns for Hillary Clinton. And Bernie Sanders kicked off town halls, including in bedford. If people say, well, we like bernie, we like his ideas, but he just cant win, thats really not accurate. Amy the vermont senator referenced recent positive poll numbers including the wmur Granite State poll which showed sanders with a 27 point lead over New Hampshire with over clinton with New Hampshire voters. And greet in tilton. Kentucky senator rand paul continues his swing through the Granite State. He had a stop at the iconic, puritan back room in New Hampshire. He finished up with a town hall meeting in new boston. Rick santorum, also back in the Granite State. The republican president ial candidate held a town hall meeting in wolfeboro last night. As part of our committee 2016 coverage, we are using the eight weeks leading up to the primary to look at eight key issues in this campaign. One priority for many voters, jobs, and the economy. Wmurs aixa dias is in our washington bureau. This is the big divide. Polls consistently show americans are split how they feel barack obama is handling the economy. Not surprising, given the mixed bag of economic news. The Unemployment Rate is going down, that jobs have been created, but the amount of growth, the trajectory of growth economists like josh says it creates uncertainty for many americans. My worry, they think this is a new normal we have to live with, when in fact, i think most of the problem we have, we havent achieved full recovery from the recession yet. Bivens says theres one major area that the economy is watching. Everyone agrees we should be doing better for sort of the bottom 80 of the workers and not seeing wage increases and where the rubber hits the roads. The democrats are going to try a paint a more optimistic picture, unemployment going down and jobs created. The republicans say not enough jobs are being created. People dont feel comfortable and they feel anxious about their economic situations. Economic growth will take more than just a president ial plan. If we continue to have divided government, the president will have a tough time doing anything about jobs. Last year employers added 2. 6 the best year for job gains since 1999. In washington, aixa diaz. Head over to our website, wmur. Com or under the politics section of our mobile app to see where the president ial candidates stand on this and other important issues. We are counting down to the 100th anniversary of the New Hampshire primary, you can watch an en n encore presentation of 100 years of tradition tomorrow at 4 00 here on wmur. Coming up, it was not a great friday night for unh hockey. Dartmouth picked up a win. Jamie has your sports next. Theres a lot of snow going on to the south. What were talking about mostly is chilly conditions and maybe a little bit of snow. Ill tell you where that could now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Its a chilly start out there. Especially in northern parts of New Hampshire. Those are also the areas today that will probably see the most sunshine, at least breaks of sunshine, if not partly sunny skies in northern New Hampshire. But its eight below right now and temperatures only making it up to the 20s. Mid to upper 20s everywhere else. Thats not a huge jump from where we are right now. Were in the teens to about 20 elsewhere. Winds out there light, but they through the day as that storm system makes a closer pass to the south. They strengthen the most tonight into tomorrow morning, and then tomorrow the highest winds pulling away as the storm does. So, now speaking of the storm, obviously, no snow here in New Hampshire right now, just clouds, which have slowly been advancing northward. As we widen the view, you can see that the no is within sites into parts of new england and pelting new york city right now, as well as new jersey, washington d. C. Getting the brunt of it, thats where the highest snowfall totals will likely be and thats where theres also a blizzard warning in effect right now. These red areas, a blizzard warning. Winter storm warnings, Winter Weather advisories, even flood warnings along the coast all in effect thanks to this very large scale storm. However, its not affecting us nearly as much. Thats for sure. Theres how large the storm is. You can see it here on the entire east coast. Pretty clearment which means a few minor bumps here and there. You go through the week and look at the cold weather, so its a cold weekend there. The cold air has permeated into southern parts of the usa. Lets look how it effects us hooker in the Granite State. Partly cloudy north and mostly cloudy southern New Hampshire through the morning and its possible we could see light flurries breaking out in southern New Hampshire and these are the areas right here where there could be maybe some very light coatings out there, maybe up to an inch who are a half inch in some of the spots in southeastern New Hampshire. Most of us dont see much more than a coating if nothing at all as it all pulls away and then we go to a sunny sunday in terms of the how much snowfall we could see, these are the areas, as i mentioned, maybe a trace to an inch in southeastern New Hampshire and areas farther north and west of that, you could see some flurries, but i dont think it will accumulate elsewhere and much higher in the Nations Capital and southern New Hampshire. The other part is denver for the big patriots game tomorrow. A look at futurecast, how that will pan out. Starting off the game tomorrow in the lower 40s, that area, that red dot just to the northwest of denver is where the stadium is and well put the futurecast in motion. There could be a couple of passing snow flurries, a snow shower or two during the game tomorrow. Hopefully it wont snow the entire time, but it looks like there could be some as we go through the day. Around here, the next seven days, nothing major. Weve got a little light snows possible. Tonight, bright and sunny, but breezy for tomorrow. Party. Josh exactly. Its all happening down south. Just get in your car and drive south if you want to see the snow. Amy i think theyre telling us not to do that. Josh i think they are, too. Amy j 648. Snoel continues to fall and blizzard warnings in the capital. And vandalism happened on northwood road and august in a few weeks ago, houses, mailboxes and cars were tagged with spray paint. And the first in the nation primary quickly approaches, that means candidates are here meeting as many New Hampshire voters as they can. Sports. We begin with the unh hockey team, the team they hosted last night. The notre dame fighting irish. Is good. Game. And hurley got the irish on the scoreboard, 10. Three and a half minutes later lucia, eight on the year. Right away 20. In the Second Period two more notre dame goals which would one of this em them is scored by anders. 40 before unh got a goal, one period. A break away and penalty shot and would convert. Five straight losses for u nh. And big ten at cornell, Charles Grant shut them down and 1918 18 saves. And monarchs playing adirondacks, a win in a shootout last night in new york and play tonight and then at 3 00. The celtics played at td garden. Olenick continues to be great for boston. Knocks down a threepointer. Boston led. In the second quarter, jimmy butler, who has become a star he had a doubledouble before halftime. Isaiah thomas had a threepointer. They win, and tonights game in philadelphia postponed until tomorrow night due to the snowstorm. Lets talk about the new england patriots, they are off, they are in denver now. They left Gillette Stadium early yesterday afternoon after tom brady and the guys had an Early Morning practice. Theyre set for tomorrows afc championship game at 3 00 against the broncos. Theyre a tough team to prepare for, but weve had two really good days here and finish up a lot of energy today. I know the guys are locked in and you know, got a lot of time on our hands between now and game time. Theyre all good players, theyve got a good quarterback. He makes them even better. Its going to be fun. As a competitor theres no better matchup. Again, this is a different game, definitely a Different Team with a different mindset. Theyve got a lot of quick receivers and then they have a big tight end who can create space, so, you know, and then they have tom brady, so i think that speaks for itself. Its a tough task. All right, and there is our crew in denver. They landed last night, photographer Chris Shepherd and jason king getting some dinner there, the live reports start tonight on 5 00 and 6 00 news live from denver. All kinds of patriots coverage for you later today. Have a great saturday. Thank you, jamie. Looking forward to the live reports. Still ahead here on news 9 this morning, Mother Nature at work. The cold temperatures have given people in ohio an aweinspiring sight along the shores of lake erie. Reporter has the story. You can call it Mother Natures version of ice sculptures, instead of a block of ice and a chain saw. Shes using lake ear eries waves and if it were to land over us, thats the way its going to freeze. Jason is from Cleveland Metro parks and snapped this a few days ago. Now look at it, not as dramatic, but still pretty incredible. And luring plenty of photographers out here in the bitter cold to get their own shots. Its after the storm, you know, its really nice out here, its cold, but, you know, its nice. Here is how it works. Arctic air is blowing across hasnt frozen over yet. When the waves get big and smashes into the air and coats the light poles that we have and we get the nice ice sculptures. When the wind changes over, and icing over geese that didnt get out fast enough. He captured a photo of one, the injured wing and frozen to ice. Beautiful, that looks cold there. I dont think i want to be that cold although its cold here this morning. Eight below north of the notches elsewhere. Warm today. The cold air is part of the reason the storm is missing us to the south. Its this big batch of cold air that the storm kind of just bounces off of and heads eastward instead of northward. So we could see some light snow or flurries in parts of southern afternoon or tonight with some minor, minor accumulations of a coating to maybe half an inch in a few spots of southern New Hampshire or southeastern New Hampshire. Right back to sunshine tomorrow, breezy and chilly and the week ahead. A few days into the 30s and 40s, milder this upcoming week. Amy good, i guess. Thats good. Josh i have mixed emotions . Some people are disappointed and excited and im sort of in the middle. It would be nice to have and also nice not to deal with the snow, a little the both. You know what . Its in New Hampshire, and its winter, there will be. There will be. Amy 7 15, josh will be right back with the forecast. And then it means so much to me to be remorkable recovery, a man nearly killed by a truck eight now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Were starting off chilly and the wind are not that bad. Theyll pick up and in some spots they may crank a little bit later on today and tonight. Well put futurecast in motion for the wind ap the red areas showing later today and tonight could be cranking up a little bit and overnight into tomorrow morning as well, but then tomorrow as the storm pulls away, its breezy and not as windy. Do be prepared for a little bit of that. One of the biggest effects of the storm to the south. Temperatures cold, up north, it was 8 below and now, its 6 of, 7, 8 below in some spots and jane tells its registering at 15 below. Brr, thats cold. Teens to lower 20s around the states mildest temperatures here in southeastern New Hampshire. The spot that has the greatest chance of maybe a coating of snow later today and tonight. Maybe. Its not a big time snow forecast here at all. Lots of clouds, thickest in soutern New Hampshire. Thinner as you get farther to the north where youll see sun at times today. Thats right, a little bit of sun with a storm system this major to our south. But its the cold air overhead and a big area of High Pressure system and doesnt let it get a whole lot farther north before its shoved to the east instead. There is the snow moving into southern parts of new england and long island, new york city, washington d. C. , all seeing heavy snow this morning, and expected to measure snow in feet in some of those locations and thats why there are the blizzard warnings, with the wind and the snow, Winter Weather advisories, flood warnings in effect for the coastal regions especially parts of new jersey, but as you can see, the rest of the nation pretty quiet out there. So, really the only game in town in terms of anything major going on around the nation, its brought the cold air down and thats why this is mostly snow in the air, look at the temperatures, wow, even cold into parts of northern florida where the blue continuing here in the 20s and upper 20s, rather, in some northern florida locations this morning. All right. A look at the snow again and well put the futurecast on here the south and try to lift up near the mass, New Hampshire border. Its tough to tell you how warm exactly it gets. Some putting it just a few miles over the massNew Hampshire border, meaning there could be flurries there. The main thrust of it stays to our south, southeastern New Hampshire because of the pivoting of the system as it changes direction. It could see a coating to maybe an inch in some of those locations. A lot of sunshine for tomorrow. Monday, partly sunny skies as well. Light snow is possible in any of these locations and in terms of accumulation, its limited to maybe, anywhere from Hampton Beach or seabrook down along the nashua and those are the areas with coating, and certainly a lot more expected in some of the mid Atlantic States. And some of those cities Like Washington d. C. And new york city. Things are pretty calm around here. A few flurries or light snow possible this afternoon and evening in southern New Hampshire. Sunshine for tomorrow. Breezy, cool, a little warmer, but still cold tomorrow and then theres your week ahead. Milder, monday, tuesday, wednesday. What do you think . Ok. It is what it is. Yeah. The man from manchester is defying the odds after being hit by a truck. He doesnt remember at all. Peter delmastro suffered a severe brain injury. And nows back doing what he loves. He says hes grateful hes alive to complete the ride all over again. All 192 miles. In manchester, Kristen Carosa, wmur news 9. Amy coming up next, more and more people have back yard chickens these days. For those who are new at the game, knowing the ins and outs of caring for chickens in cold weather. And stay home, thats the latest welcome to todays grow is green. Were in milford and im joined by Margaret Hagan from unh cooperative extension. Margaret, something thats popular recently, a lot of people are keeping their own they are. I imagine one thing in winter time chickens dont deal well with is the cold. So what do i do . In the state of New Hampshire, theres really no reason you need to heat a chicken coop because if you have a well constructed chicken coop with good ventilation and no drafts, you really dont have to heat. You dont have to heat and dont people believe you do. So if i decide maybe its not as well constructed, but i want to get heat there, what do i do. The first thing is you cant have drafts in the roosting area because it will leach the warm air away from their feathers, not good for them. And you can put heats in, although i dont necessarily recommend it, heat lamps and you need a generator if the power goes off because chickens dont deal well with dropping temperatures. In the winter time water freezes, i guess we have a solution here . If you have electricity, you can have heated water. I dont have electricity, what i use is a smaller waterer and i feel it in the morning and go out 1 00 or 2 00, and could cold days and change the water. Is there a special food in winter time as opposed to you dont need any special food, but because its cold, on really cold days, i will put out a little bit of scratch, which is basically cracked grains like oak, and put it in the morning to get their system moving and a little out before sunset in the afternoon again to give em this extra protein to get through the night. Something i havent seen right next to it before, i guess it gives the chickens something to do or what . Well if chickens get bored they tend to peck at each other. I put out things like cabbage they can peck at. This is called a flock block, you can leave it where they can come get food at their own pace if you dont have a feeder thats going all the time or cant get out to the coop for some reason, this is good to have. And unh happens to put out one of the handy dandy fact sheets as well. On winter chickens. Healthy all year long. Thats it for todays grow it green. Thank you. And the snow this morning, well look at problems its causing out in the Nations Capital. Our president , our next president will have a lot of big no one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Good morning, its 7 30, im amy coveno, we begin with a live look along the seacoast. Portsmouth. The snow continues to fall in washington d. C. With a chance of up to two feet or more. A blizzard warning is in effect. Heavy winds and potentially life threatening conditions through the night. With a chance for nothing more than flakes. There are cancellations at the airport. Candidates on both sides of the aisle are practically elbow to elbow at events around the state. First lets check with josh judge with a look at the forecast. Are you feeling left out of the party josh . A little, i want to play no, its staying to the south. Weve got clouds from it, but later on as you mentioned flakes in southern New Hampshire here and there, but there is where the brunt of it is. Look at new york city there with heavy bands of snow rolling through and baltimore and washington d. C. , the same thing. Well let you see the storm system as a whole here, as the center of it now right there. And eventually going to start pushing eastward instead of northward. So its very cold in New Hampshire, especially new that helps keep pushing the snow away. There could be light snow or flurries in the southern half of the states and mostly in southeastern New Hampshire, down the mass New Hampshire border out past nashua a little bit where the snow could stick. Even that is not going to be very much. Well talk about where those high temperatures go today and tomorrow, as well as the week ahead in a few minutes. Amy back to that Winter Weather thats walloping washington, the Nations Capital is projected to get up to two feet of snow. Wmurs sally kid joins us from d. C. With the latest on the situation there. We are getting some reports of thunder snow in the area as the storm begins to really intensify, and after the sun comes up, thats when the National Weather service says we can expect the blizzard to get even worse. Right now, weve got some bands of light to moderate snow coming through. The wind is starting to pick up. Some areas are getting gusts of 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour right now. A foot of snow. Right here on this sidewalk, where a few blocks from the white house weve got, about a foot of snow, depending where youre standing. The good thing right now is that the snow is the kind of dry, fluffy, light stuff, but forecasters say this is going to change into the wet, heavy stuff, its really going to lay on those power lines and tree branches and that could be causing widespread power outages. You see, we have some work crews out here. Weve seen transportation vehicles, weve seen snow equipment, trying to move some of the snow aside that people who work in this building have been trying to keep this sidewalk as clear as possible, and weve actually seen a few people out and about this morning, walking down the middle of the street, all of them happen to be on their way to work. Some people still have to work, as were expecting, maybe another 12 to 15 hours of this early sunday morning, about 20 to 30 inches of snow on the ground. Reporting from washington, im sally kidd. While New Hampshire got a pass from this winter blast. Thousands of flights are canceled because of it. Here is a look at flights in and airport. Board. Many flights are canceled and many delays due to the storm as well. Head over to the website for the latest conditions. Stay ahead of the storm and check out Current Conditions across the conduct. Many candidates are taking to the Granite State. Hillary clinton spent part of friday evening in concord at the 43rd anniversary of the supreme courts 1973 roe vs wade decision legalizing abortion. Clinton has been endorsed by pro choice america and last night pointed out that the stakes could not be higher in an election where republican all Women Deserve to have their rights and deserve to have access to the Health Services and choices they are entitled to. It should not be that some, who are fortunate economically, can access their rights, while all others are left behind. Today, New Hampshire senators Jeanne Shaheen and soucy, and marty walsh kick off for Hillary Clinton. Berniened is aers held town Hall Meetings including one in bedford. If people say, well, you know, we like bernie, we like his ideas, but he just cant win, thats really not accurate. Amy the vermont senator referenced recent positive poll numbers, that showed sanders with a 27 point lead over clinton with New Hampshire voters. Today, kentucky senator rand paul continues to swing through yesterday, he started with iconic stop manchester. He finished up with a ton hall meeting in new boston. Rick santorum back in New Hampshire and the republican candidate held a town hall meeting in wolfeboro last night. As part of our commitment 2016 coverage, were using eight weeks leading up to the primary to look at key issues in in campaign. One priority for many voters, jobs and the economy. Aixa diaz is in our washington bureau. This is the big divide. Polls show americans are split how they feel president obama is handling the economy. Not surprising, given the mixed bag of economic news. The Unemployment Rate is going down, that jobs have been created, but the amount of growth, the trajectory of growth has been slower in past decades and past administrations. He says that the slow recovery worries americans. New normal to live with and most of it is we havent achieved recovery from the recession yet. Theres one major area that economists are watching. Everyone agrees we have a wage problem in the United States and we should be doing better for bottom 80 of workers. And where the rubber hits the roads, what do policy makers do about it. On the campaign trail, they make the case. The democrats are going to try to make a more optimistic picture. And republicans are going to say not enough jobs are created and people still dont feel comfortable, they feel dangerous about their own economic situations. Experts say Economic Growth will take more than just a president ial plan. If we continue to have divided government, the president s going to have a really tough time doing a whole lot about jobs. Last year, employers added more than 2. 6 million positions, making 2015 the second best year for job gains since 1999. In washington, im aixa diaz. Head over to our website, section of our mobile app to see where all the president ial candidates stand on this and other important issues. Were counting down to the 100th anniversary of the New Hampshire primary. You can catch an encore presentation of first in the nation, 100 years of tradition tomorrow at 4 00 right here on wmur. Coming up next, just one day to the big game. The patriots and the broncos, jamie staton has your afc championship coverage ahead. Well take a look at the forecast for the big game. Around here today, the look at the temperatures in the 20s, not much snow, depends where you are. Many places, most of the state not seeing you any. Well show you futurecast for that and accumulations that now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Josh saturday morning, were mostly cloudy in parts of the state. Northern New Hampshire and even dim sunshine will be coming through the clouds at times today. The farther north you head, the more sun youll see. The farther south you go, the more clouds youll see and light snow. Excuse me, 18 degrees right there in warner and a light wind out of the east and there is is your temperatures around the rest of the region. Its below zero this morning, north of the notches. And when you head south, youre in the teens and very low 20s. 21 in manchester. Look at the clouds, theyve been spreading northward and thinner the farther north you head. Were looking for partial sunshine northern New Hampshire. Some of it may come up and just give us light flurries or light snow at times this afternoon and evening, and far southern New Hampshire. Look at this, deep snow pack is being developed here and the heaviest snow in areas of now long island over to new york city. Pennsylvania and washington and baltimore as well. These are some the areas hardest hit with the most snow, as the system right now is headed north, but as it runs into the dry, cold air of High Pressure to the north, instead of moving north, it starts to move northeast and eastward, away from us and thats why it deflects away from here and we dont see very much or any snow out of it. Meanwhile, lots of warnings, Winter Weather advisories and more, all along the mid Atlantic States. You can emergency, theres know the a whole lot else going on in the country and cold air has sunk into the deep south. Parts of florida in the 20s this morning. All right, lets take a look at futurecast. We take the snow here and try to push north, but High Pressure fights back and keeps it from getting much farther than from border. Some of that snow could pivot around into southeastern New Hampshire and there could be light flurries into the parts of the state. Its not out of the question that a couple of spots see a coating to half had an inch or an inch in some spots far southern New Hampshire. I think it will be the exception rather than the rule. Here is what were looking at in terms of accumulations. Flurries possible in southern New Hampshire. In terms of accumulations, a trace to maybe an inch from west of nashua on up to salem and windham area and probably not all the way up to portsmouth. Just to about hampton. So, nothing major there. Going on, theres not much happening out out there in denver right now, but it will zoom in here and put futurecast in motion and there could be, here is the stadium right there and as we go through the day tomorrow, temperatures starting 0 of in the lower 40s. There will be some snow showers dancing around that region. So there could be times of light snow during the patriots afc championship game tomorrow. But the temperatures wont be all that cold. Here is your extended forecast today. Clouds to the south, more sun to the north and light snow possible. A little warmer by a few degrees tomorrow, otherwise bright sunshine, breezy, and the week ahead does look milder, monday through wednesday. Well, there you go. Its a miss this time around. Amy all right, thanks, josh. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the new york primary. Now, hes focused on this primary, known for capturing the extraordinary moment on the campaign trail. Jeb bush stretching before a campaign event. Chris christie staring down a bull. One thing i always try and do is come up with something that is more New Hampshire primary than not. Do i have great shots of all of them . Covered just about everyone who has run for the last 30something years, 35 years. I call it like i see it. Wmur political reporter is considered the most experienced Political Writer in the state. Its so much different now because of social media because of the internet, because of the constant deadlines. Theres no deadline and yet, every minute is a deadline. Candidates for president i think New Hampshire has been a very interesting phenomenon to watch over the decades. Coki roberts with abc news has covered her share of primaries and sees a trend in recent cycles. Up and it was a lone candidate wandering into coffee shops and talking to individual voters. Now, it tends to be a huge staff and hordes of cameras following everyone around. On the search for the primary moments. Jean mackin, news 9. Now, jamie staton and news 9 sports. Well, part of the big snowstorm touched charlotte, North Carolina yesterday. It didnt stop the carolina panthers. The nfc championship game sunday at 6 40 p. M. The panthers are threepoint favorites. Speaking of threepoint favorite. They get ready to play the Denver Broncos tomorrow at 3 00 in the afc championship game. The buses pulled out of the stadium early yesterday afternoon not before the patriots got one less practice in at Gillette Stadium. Theyre ready to go for the big game tomorrow. Prepare for. Weve had two really good days here and finish up a lot of energy today. The other guys are locked in and weve got time on our hands now between now and game time. Theyre all good players, theyve got a good quarterback. He makes it even better. So its going to be a lot of fun. I mean, as a competitor, and theres no better matchup. Again, and this is a different game. This is definitely a Different Team with a different mindset. So, you know, weve got a good ga i am plan and weve got to execute it. Weve got a lot of quick receivers and then a big tight end who can create space, so, and then we have tom brady, so i think that speaks for itself. Its a very tough task. All right, and there is our crew that arrived in denver. Jason king, Chris Shepherd. Probably getting the two for 20 deal, probably dont know they get to keep the extra per diem money they dont spend. Theyre live from denver, 5 00 and 6 00 on the news. Get equal pay for women. Cut the cost of health caret actually get ahead. Hillary clinton, she has what it takes to get things done. Im Hillary Clinton and i its finally Opening Weekend for the ice castles. At night theyre lit up by the colorful changing lights and kind looks like a discoteque there. The tassels are the castles are open and tickets are online. Thats on my list. Josh is it . Yes. Josh definitely have to make sure to get to that one this winter. Amy must see. While we dodged the winter storm, other places are dealing with ice. Josh and given the people an aweinspiring sight along lake erie. You can call it Mother Natures version of ice sculptures, instead of a block of ice and chain saw, shes using lake eries waves and clevelands brutal wind and subzero temperatures. Lanned on us, thats the way its going to freeze. Hes from the metro parks and snapped this on the pier a few days ago. Now take a look, not as dramatic, but still pretty incredible incredible. And learning photographers here in the bitter cold to get their own shots. Its after the storm, you know, its really nice out here. I mean, its cold, but you know, its nice. Here is how it works. Arctic air is blowing across lake erie from canada which hasnt frozen over yet. When the wind comes through, it splashes into the air and coats the wonderful light posts that we have and we get nights ice sculptures. When the wind changes directions, so do the decides. And icing over, geese that didnt fly south fast enough. And one close to the lake, the wing blocked in ice. How long will it last . Later than that, its going to stay frozen for a while. Josh those are beautiful, im happy not to be seeing them. Amy to watch them on tv, it would be cold and windy and wet if you were on the lake seeing those. Thats not the case here. The cold, the wind will pick up later today and tonight and still breezy tomorrow. Most of the snow stays south. Light flurries or light snow possible this afternoon and evening in southern New Hampshire. Amy little jealous about that. The news continues at the top of the hour. The top stories coming up next, the snow continues to pile up in parts of the country. From iceland, australia, just about anyone r anything you can think of. Theyre in charge of an operation that looks like a post office or a companys sorting facility all for one girl, sapphire terry. We wanted to do something for her and her family. We figured its the least we can do, right. Diane and other volunteers read each and every card they open. My name is rachel block, i hope you had a very merry christmas, i live in colliers, tennessee, i hope you write back, love rachel, isnt that adorable . For others, its the first volunteer experience. What are you expecting coming here . I wasnt really sure what to expect because id never done anything like this before. With the horrible ordeal she went through, the people here now to help her see the messages in all of the letters as a sign of hope. There are so many good people in the world and, yeah, were seeing it and seeing with all of these people and with all of these millions of cards, at least two million cards plus that see received not counting gifts, thats a lot of love. There are still thousands of cards left to open and even more packages. It all has to be opened. Hands. You know, were going to do the best we can. Its going to take a while, we know that. Lori knows, people will keep coming in to help the little girl whose story has touched the world. Now, jamie staton, and news 9 sports. All right, we begin with unh hockey team, the team they hosted last night. The notre dame fighting irish and the golden domers and its 3 12 into the game. They got the irish on the score board. And then its lucia with a goal. And two more notre dame goals that would result from the goalie being pulled. One is scored by anders on the power play. It was 40 before unh would finally get a goal. Dartmouth six wins in the last seven games, monarchs playing three games with adirondack, they get a win in a shootout last night in new york and hampshire and tomorrow at 3 00. To the nba, bulls and the celtics. This one played at td garden. Knocks down a threepointer, boston led. In the second quarter, a star for chicago scores on the break, he had a doubledouble before halftime. Isaiah thomas a threepointer as the celtics take a 15 point lead at the half. They win. And tonights game in philadelphia postponed until tomorrow night due to the snowstorm. Lets talk about the new england patriots, theyre off and in denver now. They left yesterday afternoon after tom brady and the guys had an Early Morning practice. Theyre set for the championship game at 3 00 against the broncos. Theyre a tough team to prepare for, but weve had two really good days here and finish up with a lot of energy today. The guys are locked in and you know, a lot of time on our hands between now and game time, but theyre all good players and theyve got a good quarterback and he makes it better. So, its going to be a lot of fun. As a competitor, theres no better matchup. Again, this is a different game, and a Different Team with this mindset. Weve got to execute it. Theyve got quick receivers and a big tight end who can run, catch and create space, so and then tom brady, so, i think that speaks for itself. Its a very tough task. All right, and there is is our crew in denver. They landed last night. And photographer chris step perfected and jason king there. At night theyre lit up by colorful changing lights, its like a discoteque. Theyre opened up every day except tuesday and you can reserve reserve tickets online. Im headed up there. Well, maybe not. While we dodged the winter storm, other places are dealing with ice. Josh the people in ohio have an aweinspiring sight on the shores of lake erie. You can call it Mother Natures version of ice sculptures, instead of a block of ice and a chain saw, shes using lake eries waves and clevelands brutal winds and our subzero temperatures. If we were to get a big wave, and splash, whatever way it lands on us is the way its going to freeze. Jason snapped this photo off the wildwood marina a few days ago. Now take a look, not as dramatic, but incredible. And still luring plenty of photographers out here in the bitter cold to get their own shots. Its after the storm and its really nice out here. I mean, its cold, but, you know, its nice. Here is how it works, arctic air is blowing across lake erie when the wind comes through and the waves get big and splashes up into the air and coats the wonderful light posts that we have and when we get the nice ice sculptures. When the wind changes direction, so do the cool signs and also icing over, geese that didnt fly south fast enough. Jake caught this photo and a wing blocked in ice. How long are the sculptures going to last . Probably, hopefully march, not any later than that, but, yeah, frozen for quite a while. Beautiful imagery there. Yeah, im happy to just look at the pictures though. I dont need to be on that lake shore with the cold and water. Looks miserable. Look at this, huh . Look at this, this is my sisters back yard in augusta georgia, she has two kids out of their heads excited. Talk about making history and they have more snow in their yard than we have in our yard. Theyre in augusta, georgia. They do not have that type of snow there. The sim, so close and so far away, and it will not be affecting us very much here in the Granite State, a few light areas of snow, all well see out of it. Cloudy to partly sunny in northern New Hampshire and sunny, breezy, bright and chilly for tomorrow. It does get milder this week. Ok, thanks, josh. Amy we thank you for joining us. Good morning america is next. Josh and i will be back in 25 minutes with more local news and weather
