Thousand people are still without power after a storm this morning. Good evening. I am adam sexton. Cherise i am cherise leclerc. People are trying to clean up the damage. Kristen carosa is live with the latest. Kristen we are on golden brook road where a tree fell this morning, knocking out power to residents here. Things are cleed up. The good news, power wasac but it wasnt the same story for others around the state. Golden brook road in windham was quiet sunday aftnoon after a fastmoving storm swept through early this morning. We were looking out the window. It took maybe five minutes of raining before we lost power. Kristen Robert Reinhart was one of many People Living in this neighborhood that lost power. We saw firefighters, a few other emergency vehicles going down that way. Front of 13 golden brook road causing damage that was quickly cleaned up. For them, power was back on in two hours. For others, the damage was more severe. Heres a picture from bedford of a massive tree that fell on back river road. Then to epsom, where trees came down at webster park. And also in epsom, a tree came crashing down in someones backyard. That was a similar sight in weare. At first, i heard what i thought was rain. It turned out to be wind. I could see the whirling and it was a microburst. I looked out the dining room window and saw the tree down that has been here over 40 years. Kristen this massive tree cracked in half at Craig Knowles home, landing in his backyard. The Silver Lining is it did not hit the house. It could have. We are very grateful the damage was not any worse. Kristen three roads in weare had to be partially closed or completely closed because of trees falling onto wires. We did not realize there was that much wind here at the station. When we got to the area where the trees were down, there was substantial damage. Kristen there certainly was. Earlier today, more than 20,000 earlier today, more than 20,000 homes across the state w 2000 outages. Cherise crews are still trying to clean up the damage in many parts of the state. Strong winds knocked down several trees on west north street in manchester. And a pine tree fell on a home in barrington. Meteorologist Hayley Lapoint tells us if were in the clear tonight. Hayley absolutely we are. Those storms are long gone. It was a line that went across the state. Nobody was left out of this one. Within that line, there were easily wind gusts near 50, maybe 60 Miles Per Hour. That is why there were so many wind damage reports. The circles indicate where there was wind damage. We did hear a very strong wind and damage in the epsom area. It looks like this was very strong wind that moved across the state. It is still breezy. We have gusts near 20 Miles Per Hour in spots. Cherise on the 15th anniversary of 9 11, people across the state are honoring the victims of the terrorist attack. A ceremony is about to start at the state veterans cemetary in are remembering the lives lost on september 11, 2001. Mike a great crowd on hand tonight for the closing ceremony of the 100 nights of remembrance. It is an annual tradition or memorial day to 9 11. Across the state, ceremonies held to bravery and sacrifice of so many 15 years ago are memorialized by a World Trade Center beam at the Portsmouth Police department which was unveiled last year. Its a part of american history, and were very lucky to have that here. The Portsmouth Police department has made the commemoration of the event and the remembrance of this day into one of the most important things that happens every year in the city. Shortly after 9 11, four trees were planted at the school to represent the victims. I think its important for us to come together today and remember those lives and not just assume that they are remembered year to year, but actually take the time to do that. Participants climbed the stairs five times to reflect the 110 stor with more than 400 participants, organizers say this is the largest turnout yet. On wednesday, the executive council signed off on a multimilliondollar contract for dartmouthhitchcock to take over operations at the state hospital. Then on friday, dartmouthhitchcock announced it was laying off up to 460 people. Today, manchester mayor ted gatsas became the first candidate to call for that contract to be torn up, saying, the New Hampshire hospital provides essential psychiatric care, and our leaders in concord must do everything in their power to preserve these Critical Mental Health services. Mayor gatsas also slammed the governor and the executive council for the contract. Two other gubernatorial candidates serve on the council. Governor hassans spokesperson issued a statement today, saying, the upcoming layoffs are troubling news, but dartmouthhitchcock has said it wont impact the state contract, and the state will make sure thats the case. And just before 5 00 p. M. , the cancellation of the contract citing the layoffs, saying, this vital ece of information was clearly withheld from the governor and council during the negotiations and debate of their 36 million contract.
