Reporter well, the defense wasnt surprised by the sentence, they say they did ask for probation, but they say one year in jail is certainly a victory. Now, they disagree with the prosecution who said that labrie never showed remorse, they say in fact he is remorseful but wont contradict his testimony and is standing by truth, they say the incident was consensual, something the judge didnt even agree with and said so. The prosecution was also satisfied with the sentence and commended the victim for Going Forward with this saying that this is a very difficult process. She was not in the courtroom today, instead home with her family, as is owen labrie tonight where the defense said hes receiving a lot of support from family and friend. The prosecution says it is the law to be released pending the appeals process, its not something theyre happy with.
