The foliage really rl popping all across the state. No matter where you go, theres going to be some color. When you get into the Higher Elevations across the state, thats where its best at the moment. Take a look at this updated map. Just today were getting this report in. Youve got high basically peak color all the way from really the region into the upper and then from the lakes region and northward into the white mountains. Its beautiful. Moderate color from manchester into concord. And then low color right at the immediate sea coast which is typical. We usually start to see the color getting closer to the ocean by the time we get to mid and late october. As the temperatures cool down, of course. Well get the temperatures today, though. It did not cool down at all. We went up close to 80 degrees in some spots. Same thing in conaway, durham about 76. 74 in lincoln. This was warm stuff. It wasnt quite record setting warmth. We got up to 77 today in concord. The average is 64 for this date. The record, 90 set back in 1963, so we werent quite close to record breaking heat, but regardless, we are well above the average for this time in october. Look at the temperatures right now. Its still a warm night. If youre going out, 709s for the next hour or so. Of course once the sunset, the temperatures drop like a rock. About 75 in concord. 74 degrees in manchester. 69 inport smith, now up in the North Country, we have temperatures still in the mid 70s. Totally clear skies over us. It was another blue bird type of day. Perfect for checking out the foliage. It always looks so pretty with the back drop of the totally blue sky. You have to go back toward this is a cold front you see. It doesnt look all that potent right now. But as it gets closer to us, its going to gain a little bit more steam and moisture. As it comes toward us, we will get some showers from it late in the day tomorrow. That cold front and storm system will actually even deflect matthew away from us. But look at this thing. Continuously spinning. The eye has run literally parallel to the coast. And that has been really good news. Because you dont want that eye wall, particularly the winds the eye wall, to get to land. Because thats where the strongest winds are. So far that has not happened. Which is really good. Thats a good scenario. Then as this continues to move up, the threat is actually going to be flooding and storm surge over the next 4 to 48 hours for georgia, into South Carolina, even southern portions of North Carolina, with winds over 50 Miles Per Hour. There could be record flooding in some of these areas with this is the latest track of the storm. It does move up close to North Carolina by sunday. It makes a loop back down to the south, because of that cold front that were getting, it directs it back to the south, but it weakens significantly by the time it moves back toward florida. If you can believe that. Here we go, closer to home. Throughout the weekend here, well start out with sunshine tomorrow and then clouds will start to fill in late in the day. Not expecting any rain until we get to the overnight hours. So it should be dry for most of the day tomorrow. Overnight tonight, in the 40s and then once we get to the day hours tomorrow, a little bit cooler because of the clouds and those showers approaching, so well be in the 60s and 70s, if you have plans on sunday to be outdoors, that will probably be the pick of the weekend, with sunshine, temperatures a little bit cooler, monday looks great too. Either day youre good to be outdoors. Sunshine, temperatures in the 60s. Next week looking dry yet again. Anchor looks sunny. Thats good. All right. Returning now to commitment 2016 coverage. We asked candidates for governor if theres any way to ease the tax burden on Property Owners in New Hampshire. Beside as sales or income tax. I support a tax policy for New Hampshire that prevents a sales tax or an income tax in our state. And i also think there are things we can do to bring some local property taxes down. We need to do a better funding education in our state. If we start paying for fullday kinder garten in every community and we look seriously at how to bring back some sort of building aids, construction program, it will mean less local pressure for local property taxes to increase. I also think we need to look seriously at areas like having a property statewide tax credit for dependent care or child care or caring for a Family Member whos sick or aging. If we do that, we can make our tax code less regressive. We need to fund it by closing allow the Biggest Companies to get out of paying their fair share, particularly had they have assets overseas. Ive suggested that in order to fund fullday kindergarten in every community in our state, its a worthwhile tradeoff to look at what we trade for cigarette taxes in New Hampshire. It could still be lower than any other state in new england if we increase that by a dime a pack and it would fund these priorities and help provide some local property tax relief. The most important thing we can do to taxpayers in the state, obviously im not for any broadbased taxes, reducing taxes at every turn. I get a little frustrated with the democrats who take the pledge for no broadbased tax but then hit you with every other tax and fee around the corner so to say. Its not in the spirit of our low tax base here here in New Hampshire. Once of the things i hear out there is we have a lot of seniors, right, we have those that are more and more on fixed incomes as our state has become older over the years. Theres nothing wrong with that. But you need policy and leadership out of concord so that those folks that are on fixed incomes, that are already handling some of the burdens of high property taxes, are not double whammied, if will you, by the high varble costs that we have in this state. We have to do our best in concord to keep those costs low, to provide the best quality of life for individuals in the state. Tom you can find the full series of candidate questions and the politics section at wmur. Com. Spectacular fall weather. Of course we desperately need rain. Every day that goes by, were digging ourselves deeper into this drought. Well take it. Its been warm too. In the 70s. Still in the North Country and even in this region, about 69 degrees at the sea coast. Look at these high temperatures today. This is more like early temperatures. 77 in concord. 75 in manchester. We reached 73 in port smith. Even in the North Country, temperatures close to 80 degrees. This is where we stand at the moment. As soon as the sun starts to set in the next half hour or so, the temperatures are really going to plummet quickly. Already were seeing that in plymouth, down to 68. This is about 4 00 in the afternoon. You its notice you you in the its mostly cloudy but were still you notice its mostly cloudy but were still dry. Rainfall scattered, not a lot of rain. Some of you may not even see a drop. But it looks look at least most of us should get a couple of showers out of this. Look at Hurricane Matthew. Still spinning away. Weve been floridians have been lucky that the eye wall has moved just parallel with the coast. It hasnt actually made landfall. If it had, the devastation would have been much worse.
