Ti initially and then the steering current drive it through the bahamas wednesday into thursday. It takes aim on eastern florida thursday night, right through saturday, and even though the Hurricane Center track has it running close to southeastern parts of new england along about saturday night into early on sunday, there is a high probability that it will shift to the eastern half of that cone and work well out to sea. That is the most likely scenario, but theres still a us, thats why were still in that cone come later saturday night into sunday. If we were to see any effect, it would be heavy rain and brief winds. Mike across New Hampshire quiet for now as temperatures begin to a barrington man says someone target shooting in a field near his home got too close for comfort, that story coming up. Josh and at 6 00 the man who murdered a Manchester Police jean youve probably heard about this, creepy clowns popping up around the country have now caused a sear qulus scare in New Hampshire. Josh police didnt find any evidence of danger, just a frightening prank that spread quickly across social media. Jean Jennifer Crompton has the story. Reporter in berlin, keene and here in durham, reports of alleged clown sightings blew up in social media monday night leaving some unnecessary u. N. H. Theyve apologized to anyone who was truly scared connecticut has banned clown costumes this year because of all the scares around the country. With students planning halloween costumes, officials in new haven are blocking any clown outfits or other, quote, symbols of terror. Jean back to ma knew now, its the worst hurricane to hit haiti in decades. Officials are adding more tools to track this category 4 storm. Josh judge is here now to complain. Josh j. thats right. Thats what theyve been doing over and over again at the folks who fly the Hurricane Hunter airlines. Lets take a look at the latest flight they took today, they took off from the u. S. Virgin islands and look at the circles and the back and forth passes that they make over and over again, they found a minimum surface pressure of 941 mill i bars and a minimum wind speed of 139 miles per hour, just a little bit earlier today. Another flight through right now, multiple flights through. Theres a look at the satellite, very impressive. You can see the size of of it affecting much of haiti, the dominican republic, cuba and now it has its sights set on the bahamas. Its still a category 4 storm, and by the way we now have two storms, theres not only Hurricane Matthew, we also have a little sister that was born is expected to remain quite weak and stay out to sea, perhaps affecting bermuda. But where is matthew going to go . A very complex question. Milk mike with more on that. Mike we use the computer models to track it and give us an idea of where the storm will go and based on all the different computer models for the next 24 hours you notice how well defined the track is. Most of the models all agree in a north between now and thursday, right through the heart of the bahamas as a strong category 3 or 4 hurricane. Notice after that a couple models begin to pull off to the east, but many others work very close to florida. Thats why hurricane watches are in effect for a good part of the Sunshine State and the eastern half of from florida. After that it turns more to north as its influenced by an area of low pressure building in across the Northern Tier of the United States. That will help to accelerate the northeast. Exactly where that turn happens will dictate exactly where Hurricane Matthew goes. But the latest projection from the national Hurricane Center drives it towards eastern parts of florida thursday afternoon, early friday, and then through the carolinas and then the turn out to sea to the east. Where will that turn happen . Right now the odds favorite being along this line or to the southeast. That would mean very little effect on New Hampshire. Some rough surf a and also possibly a few showers later saturday night and sunday. It a you depends on how the jet stream digs in toward matthew saturday, saturday night and early sunday. If this backs down to the south and drives to it north, then we have greater impacts here saturday night into sunday. Temperatures in the 60s. Tonight its 30s and 40s, a fall chill, no doubt about that. But a lot of warm air ready to build on in starting tomorrow afternoon, upper 60s to around 70 and then even warmer as we go into thursday, friday, and the start of the weekend. By the way, with the warmup, plenty of sunshine coming on in here as well. Weve got lots of sun for your wednesday. More sunshine as we advance into thursday, by friday even warmer. We could make a run into the and then on saturday we start to see that front approach from the west. Again that will be the driving mechanism in determining where matthew goes. Right now that front alone could trigger a few scattered showers. Any time during the day on saturday, still warm, in the 70s. Then on sunday any leftover showers from the front or matthew will move out early in the day with rapid clearing. It will be a little breezy matthew were to come closer, those winds would be a little bit stronger. And then a classic fall chill builds in for later sunday into monday and even early on tuesday. So right now the shift in the trends over the last 12 to 18 hours have it about 60 to 0 miles to the east, while some computer models have picked it well away from new england. Its still early the the game, its only tuesday, and were talking aboutr josh these storms are unpredictable. Mike they, and at least the nuks couple days it bears watching. Here are the answers from the Second District candidates. This is where we need to have a balance. We have these profound American Values of privacy and freedom from Government Intervention in free thought, in free speech. But what i do know is that we need to have robust intelligence about the threats that we face of this are these lone wolf attacks, and we keep seeing this pattern where somebody who is not stable because they Lack Mental Health treatment but they have access to weapons, they have access to whatever it might take to seriously disrupt, kill dozens of people and seriously disrupt our lives, so i think one of the issues is that people in the terrorist watch list who threat, perhaps theyve made an oath to isis, weve got to make sure that they dont have access to weapons of mass destruction and weapons that can kill dozens of people in the privacy of their lives, just going to a club or school or the movie theater. We need to defeat isis and rad cam islamist terrorists and i believe that we need to more aggressively go after isis in their socalled al caliphate in iraq and syria, increasing our support for the kurds who are an effective fighting force on the ground, asking nato to step up and further enhance their isis in the region as well as the arab nations, and i also believe that we need to make sure that we are going after isis assets so that we give our men and women in uniform who are dropping bombs right now against isis targets the rules of engagement that allow them to take out those targets sooner. We waited almost a year to take out fuel trucks where we knew where they were. Finally i would say we need to increase our intelligence capabilitiesau country, isis is using social media, so we need to go after them on social media, but also make sure that were supporting our intelligence agencies to prevent attacks on our own country. El, its clear we immediate to do more to defeat isis. We certainly felt the impact of their heinous acts of terror with the murders of james foley and steven sotloff. So what ive called for is intensifying air strikes and strengthening moderate forces like the kurds, increasing and improving our intelligence gathering capability, putting more pressure on russia and the International Community to push for a political solution in syria, and then making sure that our congress develops a new authorization of use of military force, which would make it clear to the American People what it will take to defeat isis and also make it clear to the internationalmu are absolutely committed to doing it. Mike all eyes and ears on the updates with Hurricane Matthew, but across New Hampshire a beautiful stretch of weather is under way right now, and it looks to continue for quite some time. Take a look at what we can expect over the next several days, a pleasant pattern, that possibly early saturday. That means fair and cool nights and a warming trend taking over each day. Matter of fact by the tail end of the week we could make a run into the upper 70s to around 80. Then we watch the track on Hurricane Matthew, right now battering eastern parts of cuba and stretching up toward the bahamas, and about another short 12 to 24 hours from now. Again pleasantly mild to cool across New Hampshire today. We had country, while clouds did give way to clearing in parts of southern New Hampshire, but still a few patchy clouds here or there. Temperatures close to the average , in the upper 50s to lower to mid 60s. Overnight tonight it will be chilly, in the upper 30s and lower 40s in many spots. Just above frost levels. Mid 40s at the coast and also in manchester, everyone else a little bit below that. But again as mentioned for the next few days look at all this warm air back to our west, its back through minneapolis, st. Paul, near 80 in st. Louis today. And thats moving in our direction as we go through the next several days. Now, beyond then, notice how much cooler it is in the northern rockies, a disturbance in between these two air masses will help dictate what happens to Hurricane Matthew. Now moving slowly north through the caribbean and stretching up again toward cuba and the a few patchy clouds, theyll give way to clearing tonight and a fair a. Sunshine the next few days. Youre not going to see much in the waive excitement on future cast through thursday night, even friday and friday night. Beyond that again it all depends on what happens with the hurricane. In terms of temperatures, today, tomorrow and the next few days we warm from the 60s into the 70s, and possibly near 80 friday afternoon into saturday, saturday afternoon and then a now top sustained winds 140 miles per hour. Still a very strong catastrophic category 4 hurricane, moving slowly north, but increasing in forward speed just a little bit. Now up to 9 to 10 miles per hour. Over the next 24 to 48 hours notice how it veers to the west, affecting the bahamas through thursday afternoon. Beyond that the likely track takes it right near the east coast of florida, thursday night, friday, friday night and then that disturbance i showed yock the cold and the warm begins to drive matthew more to the north and east. Exactly when a turn happens will dictate whether we get rain or all we get is a few patchy clouds and a little breeze behind it for the second half of the weekend. So stay tuned to updates, we will not lock in a track by any stretch until at least tomorrow night or on thursday. Up until that point beautiful weather through early saturday, afternoon.
