reporter: good morning to you. and good morning everyone. as you head out the door this morning, not a lot of difficulty on the roads cleared an earlier accident we had in the city on elmont. police off the scene. we are moving pretty well around the beltway. going to a live shot of some of the traffic flow out there this morning, we are on the harris bug expressway i--- harrisburg expressway. this is maryland 137 on left side of the screen, the southbound lanes is where the volume is increasing. but no tap of the brakes so far as you make the drive to the top side of 695. traveling through the city a. live shot the of i-95 at o'donnell street. the medical call at 95 and boston street a lot of flashing lights on the off-ramp and brief delays as you make your way there. as far as travel times we are in great shape entering the harrisburg. five minutes from the shawan to the top side. same on i-95, 6 minutes from white marsh going through rosedale headed to the belt'way and 6 minutes from bel air to providence and outer loop north side and west side we are beginning to pack in but still, moving at top speed from 795 to i-70 it's a 7 minute drive. megan back over to you. today today we are told buses will be letting people off at rash field and participants will be going to the inner harbor to the convention center. we have new details this morning about moments after a neighborhood watchman shot and killed a florida teen trayvon martin. >> george zimmerman's father speaking out about what his son is saying happened on that night and trayvon's martin's girlfriend is talk. >> reporter: martin a16-year- old girlfriend spoke with abc news and says she was on the phone with martin before the shooting and he told her he was being followed. we also know from the police report that responding officers said they found zimmerman bleeding and grasping. and zimmerman claims trayvon martin punched him and slammed his head to the ground before shooting him. but martin's parents and their lawyer says the video is proof zimmerman is lying. this is video and you can see zimmerman arriving at police station but there's no blood or bruises. the lead homicide investigator in the case had recommended zimmerman be cadged with manslaughter the night -- charged with manslaughter the night it happened but the state attorney's office says there was not enough evidence. today another rally is planned in dc to protest shoot to kill laws such as florida stand your ground law. zimmerman is claiming sek defense and has not been -- is self-defense and has not been charged. zimmerman's father who asked us not to show his face says marten attacked hisson. >> he said something to the effect you are going to die now or you are going to die tonight something to that effect. he continued to beat george and at some point george pulled his pistol and did what he did. >> reporter: tomorrow students at central michigan universityin alabama a&m plan to hold a candlelight vigil here in baltimore, 17 year oldisaiah simmons died in 20 07 while attending bollingbrook school. >> no criminal charges will be charged against five counselors who restrained him. this news not sitting well with his family and sherrie johnson is here with reaction from his mother. what is she saying. >> reporter: the family is very upset by this whole thing. it's been going on for five years now. carroll county prosecutors have dropped reckless endangerment charges against five former juvenile facility staff members in the death of isaiah simmons e died in 2007. he was sent to the closed bollingbrook school in carroll county because he was found responsible for a robbery. the cobles were charged in connection with -- counselors were cadged in connection with restraining -- charged in connection with restraining him for more than three hours before he stopped breathing. they waited more than 40 minutes before calling 911 and the states attorney says there's several problems with the case. the lead investigator in the sheriff office faces allegation of a misconduct in a separate case and the prosecutor says that would make the testimony unreliable. but simmons' family attorney >> >> it's been an experience. you know i am learning a lot. we came over initially for the effort you know they have been going through a drought for the past three years. and you know we came over for relief to help out and try to understand as much as possible what they are going through and which ways to help. >> what have you seen in the two days and what did you share that you've experienced since arriving there two years ago? >> we have experienced a lot. today we are at at pretty much a school for farmers where they are teaching new technique as far as how to farm that land because as you can imagine, with the drought it's been difficult. but they have programs in place now where they are teaching a local farmers how to adapt to the conditions here. yesterday, we went to a small town where we helped build retainer walls because of the drought people are experiencing soil erosion and because of that, they are not able to you know point education and reap a harvest from it. so. >> quickly. >> go ahead. >> this is not a small venture we are talking about millions of people affected by this inethiopia. >> yes. we are talking over 13 million people affect by the drought. >> how can people in the states donate and take part?
