She s still shocked it happend, she s gone to madison since kindergarten and she s known these kids, even the shooter, she knows and its hard to think that, you know her biggest question is why . Reporter that s the same question jade ilderton has too as her mom hugs her tighter tonight. Why would he do that, why . There was pretty much no reason to do it. Reporter jade says she was in the cafeteria watching the accused shooter, James Austin Hancock unload on her friends Cameron Smith and cooper caffrey. Court that horse scared, i thought i was going to die i thought he was going to shoot everybody. Two prayer vigils, one at this church in west middletown, six families here who i m told were directly impacted, and across town at Middletown High School, another Church Family doing what they say is the most important thing you can do on a night like this just pray. We got a lot of kids who go that go to that school out there man i tell you man it was a scary moment i mean not just what those people went through out there the families things of that nature but just not knowing. It just strikes fear in your heart and all over the whole community they don t know what could happen at any time i think people just really need to be together to pray and support each other that s what people need right now. You know i really have to point to this is it a gun problem obviously people would argue that i think it s a heart problem i think you have to touch the heart when the heart changes that s when things change. Tonight, he will spend the night here at the Butler County juvenile Detention Center. A chaotic scene for First Responders at madison junior senior high this morning. Aware of an active shooter local Law Enforcement is highly trained to find the suspect and secure the building. It s muscle memory and we ve been training for years but it s still when you get hit like that, it all goes out the window and the muscle memory kicks in. Reporter sheriff Richard Jones says the suspect, 14yearold, James Austin Hancock, shot with what appeared to be a 380 semiautomatic handgun and he d had it with him all morning at school. The shooter told us he shot so many times but we found more casings than that and it appears its a semiautomatic weapon and when you pull the trigger and you re 14yearsold, maybe you don t know how many times you re shooting a weapon, maybe.
