When a child is diagnosed with cancer at the family start a climb of doctors appointments, therapy and it aims to help the families. The cofounders of shane rock are here to explain their mission and this is inspired by your son. It is but i will tell you about the story. When he was three, almost 4 four in 2010 he was diagnosed with brain and spinal cord cancer. He fire followed up with treatment, chemotherapy he had two major brain surgeries. We had been in hospice for five years which we recently got off up and going through all of that, we realized that there are other families that are struggling with the battling pediatric cancer. Together we decided to form this. When you start the process i dont know if either one of you can talk about this does when you start the process, did you feel lost at the beginning . Did other families help . Absolutely. We did and there were local families that helped out. Some of the families the Community Stepped up. When youre going through it, you are kind of diving in and learning about what is cancer . What is happening to our immediate household . So families in the community were fantastic in that light and we want to return the favor to pay for equipment, and to pay for care and things like that. It is meaningful for us to give back. This is the first year for you just started the foundation. There is a run coming up to talk to me about that and how people can get involved. We are really excited it to be teaming up. This is a program where students get together with local specialneeds kids and together they run and they train. And he and his sisters they have joined in this year so we meet once a week and the ultimate goal is to train for the 5k. So they are training to run the 5k on october 30. To raise for local pediatric cancer families. You have other families going through the same thing that are joining and. Is it becoming an extended family when you start to meet some of these families . Absolutely. The pediatric Cancer Community is a very Small Community, and when those families are touched and they have the battle with their children, through is a big part of it so that is another thing. I think that it will help to serve as it is a Small Community of not only in Greater Cleveland but obviously in the pediatric cancer world, it is been a very tightknit group so we reach out and help each other as best as we can.
