But first, we start with breaking health news this evening. The zika virus has spread to Central Florida. State Health Officials just confirmed a case in osceola county. That brings the total to 7 counties with the virus. This map shows where all those the osceola case is the only confirmed one in our area. Shaun chaiyabhat is live in the newsroom with senator bill nelsons plan to stop the virus. Yeah, ginger, the senator has now sent a letter to the president , calling for a zika czar to spearhead the coordinated federal response. The zika virus continues to spread quickly. There are now 14 cases in the state of florida throughout seven counties. There have been five reported cases in miamidade county, three in hillsborough and now closer to home, st. Johns and osceola. Health officials announced that growing number as senator bill nelson spoke to reporters today. If its going to become a big problem and what we need to do is get ahead of it. He and 44 Senate Democrats have called on the president to appoint a zika czar to coordinate the federal response. Years ago approach to the ebola crisis by doing exactly that, calling them an ebola czar or point person. The zika virus spreads from mosquitos and linked to birth defects in latin america. Local Health Officials say each of the cases in florida were acquired when patients traveled to a zikaaffected country. None were contracted from local mosquitos and, so far, none involve pregnant women. They say it violates civil rights and loren korn looks at the controversy. This Gentlemans Club and one of its dancers are now suing the city, claiming the new ordinance is not tackling Human Trafficking, rather violating their civil rights and claiming its a form of harassment. A City Ordinance with good intentions. The intent of this ordinance is strictly to combat human traffic. Its stirring up controversy with the Gentlemans Club, the only Adult Entertainment business in town. We dont know if theres a Human Trafficking problem in but we felt that a City Ordinance that we passed would help us discover if we, in fact, had a problem. The ordinance is for businesses that have alcohol and Adult Entertainment. It would have to post Public Awareness signs pertaining to Human Trafficking. Employees must obtain a permit to work there and they must submit their fingerprints. We know who is working there. If they have any problems, if theyll be in traffic, we hope theyll talk to us. The clubs Attorney Says the ordinance is just a way to chase them out of town. On monday the club and one of its dancers filed the lawsuit to drop the ordinance, saying it violates civil rights and its burdensome. The Attorney Says it does not help combat Human Trafficking. Human trafficking is a real big problem in our society, but in adult clubs, its exceptionally rare. Were not out to get anybody. Human trafficking. I would not want to violate anyones constitutional rights. In Daytona Beach shores, loren korn, news 6. One day after learning hackers stole the names and Social Security numbers of 63,000 students and faculty at ucf, the f. B. I. Tells news 6 it is investigating similar incidents at universities nationwide. The f. B. I. Wont yet say what schools or how many more people were targeted, but at ucf, current and former students and employees are flooding a special hotline. Many say theyre reaching rude operators after some long waits. The no. 1 thing were hearing is the wait times have been too long. Thats our priority. Weve been working to get the wait times reduced. We want people to be able to get through to the call center quickly. Ucf says it still does not know how the hackers got in but it is conducting a systemwide check to keep it from happening again. The man at the center of a florida toddlers disappearance will serve 20 years in prison for manslaughter, lying to evidence. William ebron pleaded guilty in jacksonville in the death of 2yearold la Lonzie Barton who dis disappeared last july. As part of his plea agreement, ebron told detectives he had the boys mother lock lonzie in the bathroom so they could have sex. They say lonzie drowned in a bathtub. Ebron says he panicked and hid the childs body. This whole situation is disappointing. Theres nothing in no certain thing in particular that makes other. Theres a child thats gone. Here. Lonzies mom, lana barton, pleaded guilty to child neglect last month. An unusual traffic problem on one of orlandos busiest roads. Sky 6 is over the scene on bumby avenue where a semi truck overturned and hit a building. The semi was a milk truck and overturned in orlandos milk the building was empty and the semi driver was not seriously hurt, so good news there. A tow truck has now removed the milk truck. 20 shots fired and two people hit, including at least one innocent bystander. Tonight the search is on for the two gunmen. Deputies say this all happened outside the restaurant on Orange Blossom trail just north of oak ridge road. Our cameras were there overnight as the ambulance rushed both victims to the hospital. Orange county deputies say it all started with an argument inside the restaurant when the first victim tried to leave, he was ambushed by two men who shot him in the parking lot. Other man who was shot did not know anyone involved. Deputies only have a vague description so far. If you have any information about this shooting, youre asked to call the Orange County sheriffs office. A bit of a chill is in the air.
