This is what it sounded like earlier this morning as taylor and officers exchanged rounds and rounds of gunfire. That prompted police to evacuate neighbors like this man to a nearby bowling alley. She was very worried. Just the ricochet of bullets. Our apartments are on either side of you. Exchanged rate of gunfire, you have to always worry about that. I was able to go over there and i can tell you this was a very intense situation for our officers and the residents of this complex. Melbourne police say the wednesday night after what theyre calling a domestic disturbance. For nearly 12 hours, authorities negotiated with taylor, a veteran, but they couldnt get him to come out. Die. Sometimes. That is, until george taylor, a veterans Victim Advocate who knows the suspect stepped in. From one combat veteran to another combat veteran. Theres a rapport there. I knew if i had the opportunity or prayed if i had the opportunity we would resolve it peacefully. Inside the complex this afternoon we briefly spoke with a woman who said she was taylors wife. She told us her husband just needs help. Now despite the several rounds of gunfire, luckily no one was hurt in this situation. Taylor had a slight injury on his hand. Nothing severe. The principal told me today that some of the students wanted to remember their fellow classmate and friend who suddenly collapsed here at this died. Students at Taylor Middle High School released white balloons today, remembering their classmate, the 16yearold girl who collapsed during a soccer game and later died. An emergency at Taylor Middle High School. We need an ambulance. A girl passed out. It happened wednesday night. She raised her hand to get out of the game, sat on the bench and used her inhaler and suddenly collapsed. Is she conscious yet . Shes still out. Shes still out. Shes still out. An ambulance rushed her to Florida Hospital de land but later died of asthma complications. She was a sophomore student here and will be sorely missed by students and staff. The shooting killed an innocent woman at a downtown club. News 6 reporter mark lehman tells us whats next for the man who police say is responsible. The pretrial conference was held in the judges chambers at the Orange County courthouse. Attendance. Jail. We learned when a jury may hear his case. Previously set for this week, the trial for cody roach is now hes charged with seconddegree murder in the shooting death of a 22yearold woman, despite never firing a bullet. Police say roach got in a fight with officers after being thrown out of the vixen nightclub. The officer then opened fire, nine times. According to police. Roach was struck seven times. One of the bullets went through the bar door, killing the woman. The officer has been cleared of her death because prosecutors say roach is ultimately responsible. He could face life in prison if a jury agrees. Attorneys on both sides now have the next 2 and a half months to prepare for the trial, set to begin at the end of march. Theyre next due back in court for a Pretrial Hearing on march 17th. Potential upgrades coming to parking meters in Brevard County. News 6 has learned cocoa beach is considering changing its coinoperated machines to ones that you can pay with credit cards or by your phone. Were told it would cost a little more than 350,000 to install the meters. The city is set to vote on the upgrades during tonights meeting at 7 00. I wish there was a system where you could do both. Not everyone has a credit card or a smartphone. The smartphone things really work. I use it all the time. Its a park mobile app. If youre out to dinner and can add time. Which is great. That i always you have to run out to do it. Its stressful to try to dig for coins and run out and feed the meter. Its a lot to deal with. St. Cloud police say sarah moore had sex with the underaged victim several times, including at her home, which she shares with her husband and kids. Moore was most recently a substitute teacher at st. Cloud middle school. She was fired after her arrest. Moore is charged with 10 counts of sexual battery. The firstever jetblue flight to Daytona Beach from j. F. K. Airport in new york arrived earlier today. The airline Just LaunchedDaily Nonstop Service between the two cities. The flight was supposed to get here at 11 55 in the morning but landed 20 minutes early. A jetblue official we spoke with who went to embryriddle, told us why they chose Daytona Beach as the newest destination. We saw the level of enthusiasm that we dont see in a lot of communities. That helped us to make a decision that helped to take new market. For now jetblue will have one flight a day but it could increase if the trips are popular. A little different here today. The trash in these containers is gone. About four days after it was scheduled to be picked up. Orange county saying its working hard to make sure all the trash is gone by the end of the week. Our trash was picked up today. Rachael howell is glad to see this big green container is no longer in front of her home filled with trash. It was supposed to be picked up on monday. Its nice to look down the street and only see one can for the recycling, which is im not sure when that will be picked up. It was a big relief. Just yesterday we were at this neighborhood. Their garbage sitting by their driveway for days. Orange county telling news 6 there have been delays in pickup because of the new automated Collection System. Some people are not following the new procedures, including put all the trash in the containers and leaving enough space between the bins. I would say 90 of the people got picked up on time on the right day and are moving forward and 10 didnt. Jim becker says its still a lot. Since monday, the county has received about 25,000 calls. He says crews are working quickly and on saturday, usually their day off, to pick up all the trash. We expect that everyone will be picked up no later than saturday. The county is urging you to be patient as the kinks of the new system are worked out. A noaa team found the remains of two ships trapped by ice back in september of 1871. That is 144 years ago.
