We have the starstudded moments from the president s final white house Correspondents Dinner. From abc news, its this week here now, coanchor, martha raddatz. Good morning. And now the stage is set. President obama bringing down the house one last time at the annual washington ritual, the annual Correspondents Dinner. Poking fun at the men and woman who want to take his place. My eighth and final appearance at this unique event. And i am excited. If this material works well, im going to use it as Goldman Sachs next year. [ laughter ] this morning, its all about who will succeed him. On to the future now. And three big unresolved questions. Will tuesdays indiana election breathe new ted cruzs bid to take the race all the way to the Cleveland Convention . Or will it put a practical end to the 2016 primary season . Well talk to the senator in a moment. Second question, how rough will the next stage be . We got a preview in the blistering back and forth over the socalled woman card. The first salvo in a contest likely to get even nastier, even more personal. And third, how wild . That image of donald trump surrounded by a small army of secret service agents, clamoring over barriers to avoid angry poe tests. A reminder of the passion behind the politics. That the anger that burned through the primaries could well intensify. This week, hard look at the campaign and the country. And whats next. You ne ive got to talk about trump. Reporter last nights white house Correspondents Dinner, and once again, donald trump was im hurt that hes not here tonight. What could he possibly be doing instead . Is he at home eating a trump steak . Tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel . Whats he doing . Reporter rewind to five years ago when trump was in the audience. He wasnt laughing. Donald trump has been saying hell run for president as a republican, which is surprising since i just assumed he was running as a joke. In an episode of celebrity apprentice, you didnt blame little john or meatloaf. You fired gary busey. [ laughter ] and these are the kinds of decisions that will keep me up at night. Reporter back then, he was just a reality tv star with a famous hairdo. Youre fired. Reporter one year from now, donald trump could be delivering the punchlines. He believes hes halfway there. I consider myself the reporter after sweeping five states in the northeast this week, its now clearer than ever that trump will likely win the gop race. With just ten states left to vote, trump close to 1,000 delegates. Closing in on that magic number of 1237. So hold off on that talk of a contested convention. If trump can win indiana on tuesday, the math suggests he could win on the first ballot. Thats why more of the gop establish hment is inching toward him. If donald trump is our nominee, ill vote for him. If ted cruz is our nominee,ly not vote for him. Reporter and even indiana governor mike pence, who says hes backing cruz in the hoosier state, seemed to hedge his bets. I like and respect all three of the republican candidates in the field. I particularly want to commend donald trump. Im not against anybody. Butly be voting for ted cruz. Reporter but tru made this remarkable claim. Ideally, were going to be together. I thinkly win even if were not together. I mean, some people, i honestly dont want their endorsement. I just dont want it. Reporter the republican establishment thats rejected the upstart outsider since he got in the race now seems to need trump more than trump needs them. Like with ted cruz. Hes a wofrl guy. I mean, if he wants to endorse me, thats fine. But i dont care. Reporter on that, trump need not worry. Team cruz showing no signs of coalescing behind the frontrunner. Cruz, instead, making his last stand in indiana. And were joined now by senator ted cruz. Congratulations on your endorsement from governor pence. You said on friday that america is depending on the hoosier state. Can you win if you dont win indiana . Indiana is critical. I was honored to receive the support of governor pence. Hes a trusted someone hoosiers respect. He has a remarkable record here leading with common sense conservative values. Of lifting regulations. Seeing private sector job growth as a result. We need to bring gnat indiana common sense to the rest of the country. You say its critical. Sit a must win . Its an incredibly important state. Were competing hard. I hope we do well here. Im barnstorming the state. Were in a bus with my family. Doing everything we can to tern votes of the men and women in this state. Were going the distance. Were competing the entire distance. Im encouraged seeing governor pence come together, announcing this week, Carly Fiorina this week as my Vice President ial nominee. Were seeing the Republican Party unite. Its mathematically impossible for you to clinch the nomination on the first ballot. Tennessee governor bill haslem says if you take to it the second ba received as a steal. What do you say to republican who is fear that . Nobody is going to clinch it on the first ballot. Nobody is getting to 1237. Im not. But donald trump isnt either. Its why donald trump is so desperate to say the vase over now. To get his media ak colites to athat, too. It is going to be a contested convention. I think donald knows he cant earn the support of a majority. If you cant earn a majority, you cant unite the party. And that makes you a terribly weak general election candidate. I believe the convention, the highest total trump gets will be the first ballot. And that we are seeing the party unite behind our campaign. Speaking of that, there are gop Party Leaders saying enough is enough. And that the prolonged fight is helping secretary clinton. In colorado, state where you got all the delegates, for the post, people just want this thing to be over with and we need a nominee. I recognize that that will be echoed by the media. The media has given donald trump 2 billion of free air time pip can tell you people want a clear and meanleful choice. Hillary and donald trump are flipsides of the same coin. They agree on issue after issue after issue. You believe a Trump Presidency would be the same as a Clinton Presidency . I think a Trump Presidency would be a disaster. It would continue us on the same roads. Trump believes in government. Donald and hillary are washington insiders. Both have gotten rich using government power to further their personal interests. If youre fed up with the corruption in washington, donald and hillary have been enmeshed in that. Lets go back to the endorsement by governor pence. He says he likes and respects donald trump. Do uh huh. You respect him . You would support his nomination . Im glad donald ran. I think he energized and excited a lot of people. I think his views. Hes a Big Government liberal just like barack obama and just like Hillary Clinton. Lets take, for example, Foreign Policy. You have expertise in Foreign Policy. Im sure you saw his so called Foreign Policy speech this week. That speech was written by washington lobbyists. It says something that he outsourced that speech to washington lobbyists. This speech was a speech that reflected a weak and naive view of Foreign Policy. Once again, he didnt stand with israel. We have seen that for seven years. If you like this administration not standing with israel, thats what donald trump saying he would do. That speech was senator bob corker, even ambassador john bolton. Who you floated as a potential secretary of state. He said it was right on target. Strong and impressive. Are they wrong . I can tell you that speech, on isis, donald says he has a plan and wont tell anybody what it is. Thats what barack obama says. On iran, donald trump said he would keep in place in disastrous Iranian Nuclear deal. Im the only candidate running who will rip the iranian deal to shreds on day one. If you do that, then what . You make clear to the ayatollah he will not get nuclear weapons. They were hurting from the sanctions until obama stepped in and sent them over there are 100 billion. You stop giving money to people that want to kill you. When the ayatollah chants, death to america, he means it. These are significant difference in policy. We ought to have a debate and discuss them. I want to make a turn here to this weekend. You know this weekend is the white house Correspondents Dinner. A lot of fun poked at washington. Have you found any humor in this election . Or can you poke fun at yourself in any way . Listen, you to laugh. I laugh every day on the trail and have fun with it. And part of the reason, i think, that we have have gone to this point, why im the last man standing against donald trump, why were uniting the Republican Party, is because were running a joyful campaign. Were having fun. Were laughing. Um, and i think people can tell a joyful campaign. Im very much a happy warrior. Even when donald trump engames in nasty attacks and personal slurs, you laugh it off and have fun because when youre speaking the truth, speaking from the heart, when you know what you believe, you dont have to fake it. And, so, yes, there is humor every day. Listen, i am sure you laughed out loud watching Donald Trumps speech on Foreign Policy where he talked about tanzania. Im not familiar with that. You have to be able to laugh and have fun and enjoy it. Thats what were doing every day. Were glad youre having fun. Thank you for joining us, senator cruz. Thank you, martha. God bless. Okay, lets bring in the roundtable for instant analysis. Abc news political analyst matthew dowd. Abc news contributor and espn Senior Writer lz granderson. E. J. Anderson. Donald trump about 15 points ahead of cruz in a new poll out. Does cruz have a shot at stopping trump . No. Bottom line. Senator cruz ought to take his own advice which he gave to john kasich a month ago. When youre mathematically eliminated, its time to get out of the race. Even if ted cruz was to surprise and take indiana, he cant win the nomination. The numbers arent there. You can feel it in watching ted cruz and watching his folks that they understand it. They understand its slipped away. Maybe its time to fold his tent. E. J. , you wrote this week that trump is still not inevitable. Still think that . I do, because of the opposition among so many republicans and the deep split in the party. I was struck this george will, on the one hand, writes a column saying lets elect hillary, hold the senate, we can win it back in 2020. Peggy noonan writes that the Republican Base no longer sees itself as conservative the way washington writers define it. I think among republican politicians, yes, you have people afraid to come out against trump now. They know in their hearts that if hes nominated, the disaster in november could be extraordinary. I still think there is opposition to him, people are going to try to keep him from taking this. But you heard senator cruz. Hes still counting on indiana. Do you think it is over . The polls are indicating that indiana wont be easy for senator cruz. The problem is not just that he wouldnt have the delegates. The loss of momentum. The sense that hes just not going to be the guy headed into the next few states. By the time you get to june 7th, california, cruzs last stand, if he does not come out of indiana wit positive momentum, its hard to see him stringing the delegates together to get to a second vote. And speaking of california. The final big delegate prize in june. Youre from california. We saw the big antitrump protests. People coming out in masses. Could cruz beat trump there and still take it . I doubt it. I mean seeing protests. Youre in the minority here. Im proud of it. The fact of the matter is when cruz lost the bible belt, which was going to be the wind in his sails, he lost. It corrected the nair ty that he had the conservative vote. I doubt he goes california and sthax script win by the past 40 states. I think that whats happened now, when ted cruz got media play. Hes disliked by more Republican Voters than he is liked by them. Donald trump has a 20point favorability advantage over ted cruz among Republican Voters now. And ted cruz has lost seven or eight points since his wisconsin win. Since he got all the media play. The problem is, is trump vulnerable . Yes. And would somebody like an option . Yes. The problem is, the option is not any more ted cruz. Without ted cruz being the option, donald trump will win. What should they have done to derail him . Get in a time machine. Go back to last november. What should they have done . I think for a long time, a lot of folks, i put myself in this category, that thought he would be a passing fad. By the time you got to last fall, he was getting into fights with fox news. Prominent conservative luminaries and was winning the fights, that was the wakeup call. We have a lot of people in our party who dont consider themselves conservative fir theyre more interested in whether its trumps identity politic or the focus on the working class that is separate from allege ideological concern. I think thats right. I also think that they had a complete misunderstanding of their own selfinterest. Everybody else thought if i can only be the last person standing against donald trump,ky beat him. Rather than go at trump early and say, look at the threat this guy poses to our party, to our values, they sort of hung back. Ted cruz himself, early on, was the closest ally trump had. Because he wanted to be there when trump fell. I want to go, very kickly, to Bernie Sandershillary clinton. Does he bow out quickly . No, theres no reason to. He sees he has influence with the platform. I support his decision to stay in, even though mathematically it theres a reason for him to bow out. He cant get the nomination. Does he want to stay in to serve a different purpose . Yeah. Hes another one like ted cruz, ought to see the writing on the wall. You guys are all going to be back. . Next, what would the world look like under a President Trump . Or a president clinton . Our exclusive live interview with robert gates, defense secretary under president s bush and obama is coming up. Plus, trump and clinton arguing over the socalled woman card. Were sizing up what looks like a nasty november fight. Back with secretary dpats if just two minutes. Proof of less joint pain. His is a body of proof. And clearer skin. My second Favorite Book of all time. Whats my the bible. The bible. It may not beat out the bible. But donald trump has been pushing his book, the art of the deal throughout this campaign, to boost his bona fides as a leader. Trump gave his first major Foreign Policy address wednesday. It made us wonder, does his experience with the give and take shape his approach to world affairs. The art of the deal trumps bestselling, chestthumping of the business howto. The an shept battle book, the art of war is winged at. Almost 30 years later, is his bestseller a blue print . He laid out International Relations under President Trump. Investment we can make. In negotiation, you must be willing to walk. Reporter sounds a lot like business relations under trump, the ceo. Just look at china. No talk of democracy. Human rights. Trumps beef is he thinks our trade imbalance is caused by chinese currency manipulation. We have the leverage, the power. Over china. Economic power. Reporter or as he put it so long ago. Its easy. Listen, [ bleep ]. Reporter sometimes it pays to be wild. What about americas relations with its friends . Our allies are not paying their fair share. The countries were defending must pay for the cost of this defense. And if not, the u. S. Must be prepared to let these countries defend themselves. Reporr the art of the deal with the you never do is pay too much. Even if that means walking away. As for all those things trump has said that shocked the Foreign Policy establishment. Total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the United States. Theyre going to build the wall and mexico is going pay for the wall. And you know it. And i know it. And they know it. Reporter does trumps book hint we should take it all with a grain of salt . The point is, if you are a little outrageous, the press is going the write about you. Controversy, in short, sells. And im joined now by robert gates, the former cia director and secretary of defense under president george w. Bush and president obama. You have served eight president s. Thanks for being with us this morning. You heard trumps important pfol speech this week. What would a Trump Presidency mean for the u. S. . Based on the speech, you have somebody who doesnt understand the different between a business negotiation and a negotiation with sovereign powers. For example, he, on the one hand says, we need to be a more reliable ally to our friends. And in the next breath, he says were going to rip up all those burdensharing agreements and make them go their own way if they dont pay for everything. He says some things that, are hard to disagree with. The allies ought to be doing more. But how do you get them there when youre dealing with 28 sovereign countries . And nobody argued harder for them to do more than i did. How do you actually get these countries, many of which have weak governments, to agree to and all im saying is he doesnt understand that theres a give and take in International Relations that is different than in the piz community. And just one further comment. He talked about walking. How do you walk away from china, a country who holds trillions in u. S. Treasuries. And at the same time, say were going to launch a trade war against them, at the same time, asking them to pressure north korea. You have heard people campaign, come in, take over, do it differently than their campaigning. What do you think happens if donald trump is elect snd are we safe . Is the National Security in good hands . One of the things that worries me is hat he doesnt appear to listen to people. He believes he has all the answers. That hes the smartest man in the room. Ive worked with different president s. Jimmy carter, rond reagan, george w. Bush, barack obama. One thing they all had in common was to listen to people with experience and made their own independent decisions. Theyve gone in different directions. But never assumed they have all the answers. How do you think foreign leaders see him . Theyve seen this campaign. Some outrageous things said. From your experience, what do you think foreign leaders are saying . I think theyve spoken for themselves. Many have said publicly, how worried they are about the possibility of mr. Trump becoming president. His unpredictability. His lack of understanding of the complexity of international affairs. His threats. His claims that hes going to make other countries do things when, in fact, the president of the United States does not have the power to make them do things. Leaders around the world, both among our friends and potential adversaries are quite concerned. Lets talk about secretary clinton. You worked with secretary clinton. Youre not endorsing anyone at this point. Absolutely not. How would her Foreign Policy be different than Barack Obamas . Is she more hawkish . Do you see her that way . I think she probably would be. She clearly has been on the record favoring a more robust action in syria, for example. So i think show probably would be some what more hawkish than president obama. President obama said his biggest mistake was not working for after intervention in libya. How much responsibility does secretary clinton bear for that . I think just as was the case in the inability to deal with post invasion iraq in the bush administration, ultimately, the failure to plan for a post invasion or post military operation really has to reside in the white house. Its the white house. And the nsc that has to bring defense and state Intelligence Community and others together in the plans process. Its not the province of just one department. I want to ask you about her emails. You have been in government almost your whole life. I know there is lots of overclassification. People complain about that. With your experience, if you read a document in an email, would you have a pretty good idea of whether it should be marked top secret even if it wasnt . Sometimes not. Things are overclassified. Sometimes i would get something that would be classified. And i would look at somebody and say, im about to tell a foreign leader what is on this piece of paper. Thats and thats going to do serious damage to the United States . Why are you gfing it to me as a talking point if its classified top secret . It is tough sometimes. If you dont have any markings on a piece of paper, its tough sometimes to tell if clst classified or not. I have to move to something that was written in the Washington Post by jennifer rubin. She said we need a third party xantd that is strong, solid in character, and possessing considerable executive experience. There is robert gates who is among the most qualified Public Servants out there. Would you consider that . Thats the silliest thing i have ever heard. I just knew you were going say that. Not a chance. Theres your quote. How about Vice President . Some talk of you a president ial candidate with donald trump. One of the problems with being Vice President , if you totally disagree with the president , you cant quit. Okay, so you would totally disagree with that. Thank you for joining us this morning, secretary gates. Pleasure. Up next, it may have been the first shot nird the general election. Donald trump and Hillary Clinton. Spars over women. Ill talk to the trump and Clinton Campaigns about their fall strategies next. And the roundtables back with full anal sits on trump and clintons path to victory. Plus, hollywood meets washington. Well bring you the best moments and the best jokes from president obamas last white house Correspondents Dinner. Last week, Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe. Prompting tweets if i had a dollar for every time ive used the woman card, i would have about 77 cents by now. A reference to the gender pay gap. Will trumps rhetoric about women come back to haunt him . Well take that question on right after this. Yourbut the omega3s in fish oil differ from megared krill oil. But with the help of at t, and a network that scales up and down ondemand, this hospital can be ready. Giving them the agility to be flexible reliable. Because no one knows like at t. Frankly, if Hillary Clinton were a man, i dont think she would get 5 of the vote. The only thing shes got going is the womans card. Well, if fighting for Womens Health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in even before the primaries are settled, the gloves are off. And the fight over whats being called the woman card is whone Hillary Clinton seems eager to join. Trump is throwing out two idea. The only things that keep her candid woman, and that women dont like her. Since 1964, more women than men have voted in every president ial election. And in this one, looking more like ly by the day, trump is starting behind. 69 pk of women have an unfavorable opinion of him. 45 of women have an unfavorable view of clinton. So what is the strategy for trump . Why risk making a bad situation worse . One answer, outrage, has worked for him so far. Remember what he said about mexicans in his announcement speech . Theyre bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. And some, i assume, are good people. Rather than sink his campaign, its won him the support of a majority of Republican Voters. Donald j. Trump is calling muslims epterring the United States. After that, exit pols show nearly 7 out of 10 gop primary voters favor banning nonu. S. Muslims from entering the country. You know, when i made the statement about muslims, banning muslims on a temporary basis. I took such heat. Now people are saying, you know, trump is sort of right about napt. So would a tactic that worked fine in the primaries also work in a general election . Its a huge question. Joining me now to debate this, Trump Campaign is senior adviser, Sarah Huckabee sanders, the daughter of Mike Huckabee and managed his president ial campaign until he dropped out. And Clinton Campaign supporter stephanie schriock, president of emilys list. Trump has found success attacking muslims. Si have voted in president ial elections. Why is he doing this . I dont think hes attacking women. Hes pointing out something Bernie Sanders campaign has been talking about for months. That Hillary Clintons biggest thing shes running on is that hes a woman. She doesnt have a successful the record run on. She has to turn to what she has in her arsenal. Shes a woman zplp hes questioned her strength and stamina. Accused her of shouting. H is he tieing to make her just a woman . Is that the vstrategy . I think the person that is playing the woman card is hillary, not donald trump. And i think when you put them together on the issues, donald trump is going win hands down because hillary doesnt have the strong record to run on. Stephanie you think hes attacking women . Could this galvanize women . I think hes taking on a strategy gnat marginalizes women. Women voters are going decide this election. And what women vote rrs looking for are candidates who are supporting equal pay. Fighting for minimum wage. Talking about paid family leave. Donald trump has no agenda thats going to advance womens economic security. Hillary clinton has spent her entire career doing just that. I couldnt disagree more. I think that is the one point i agree with stephanie is that i think women will have a deciding role in the process. I do think that at the end of the day, theyre going to side with donald trump. I think its almost offensive that Hillary Clinton and her campaign wants to tell women that these are the only issues we care about. They want to put news a box. Im a working mom. What keeps me up at night is wanting to know, are my kids going to be safe at school . Will they be they graduate . Will they have a job . Donald trump is the only person talking about things that will grow our economy and keep our kids safe. Sarah, a procruz superpac released an ad about trumps support of boxer mike tyson who was convicted of rape in 1992 and served three years in prison. One of the leaders of the effort to keep tyson out of prison is donald trump. You have a young woman in his hotel room, at her own will. Seen dancing with a smile on her face. Youre endorsing trump. I like trump. He should be the president of the United States. Paid for by trusted leadership pac. This is what your candidate said. Mike tyson endorsed me. I love it. He sent out a tweet, mike, iron mike. Is that the kind of endorsement donald trump should be looking for . Think hes looking for the endocument and vote of every american. Hes not playing by the i think thats one of the reasons that hes doing so well in the primary and going to go on the win the general. Hes not a washington insider. Which is the biggest contrast that anyone can make against Hillary Clinton. Hes the ultimate outsider. Shes the ultimate insider. In the year of the outsider, i think hes going to do extremely well in november against her. A quote in the new york times. From Kelly Ann Conway who said trump is swiftboating her by throwing shade on what should be a strengths. Referring to the 2004 attack on john kerrys war record, which deterred attention from george bushs vulnerabvulnerabilities. Do you see it here . It will backfire. You mentioned that 69 of women today have an unfavorable opinion of donald trump. In fact, theres been polls that show its up as high as 75 of women. And again e, this going to be decided by women voters. Could she alienate men . If she keeps up on the track and playing up the fact that shes a female candidate . Shes talking about a contrast between two visions. Shes a fighter for women and family. She does happen to be a woman, that is true. Really, this campaign is focused on Economic Opportunities for women and families in this country. On a whole wide breadth of issues. Thats incredibly important. The Republican Party still hasnt embraced any of the policies that could make a huge difference for women in this country. Were going to have to leave it there. Thank you very much. Im sure well hear more about this. Up next, donald trump and Hillary Clintons similar paths to the nomination. What will it mean for their paths to the white house . The roundtable is standing by. Hillary clintons trying to appeal to young voters is a little bit like your relative who just signed up for facebook. Dear read, did you get my poke . Is it appearing on your wall . One area donalds experience could be valuable. Thats closing began tguantanam. Because trump knows a little bit abou properties into the ground. President obama with a few more shots last night. Theres a pretty remarkable overlap in their paths to victory according to the atlantic magazine. Take a look at this map. These are all the states that both donald trump and Hillary Clinton won. Big wins in the deep south and the northeast. And there in yellow are all the states that both lost. Again, overlapping from alaska to hawaii all the way to maine. What does this mean for the general election matchup . Both candidates promising to shake up the map in the fall with trump hoping for victories in reliably democratic states in the rust belt, states he won in the primaries. Ill win places like new york. Ill win michigan. Ill win places, were going to win pennsylvania in the general. [ cheers and applause ] and clinton is trying to make headway in republican states she won in the primaries. States with growing minority populations like arizona in the southwest and georgia in the south. Somebody said to me the other day, well, if you keep taking trump on, why are you doing that . I dont want anybody in our country or anywhere in the world to think he speaks for anybody but himself. [ cheers and applause ] so lets bring the roundtable back in and focus on the paths for victory. Donald trump. Each of you picked one path for donald trump to get to 271 electoral votes. Matt, you said one relies on the insideroutsider divide thats animated the race. What do you mean . I think the most fundamental thing is what the political environment is. Not necessarily who the candidates are or their campaign tactics. What the environment is. Were in an environment that is very beneficial for the republican, whoever that might be, and lets say donald trump, if hes the nominee. One, the wrong track of the country. Twothirds of the country think were on the wrong track. Fundamentally, they want something who is not washington. Hes going to have to run on that track and run against that with Hillary Clinton, who has represented washington for the last 22 years. Sit going to work . Possibly. But is it his best thing to go for him is the environment were in today. Lz. We have e. J. s, lzs. Does that outsider argument fade away when somebody gets in the voting booth and says, boy, this is going to be the commander in chief. I think the on important thing is that donald trump is not truly an outsider. The more he talks about how much he knows politicians is for her politicians is to have been on the inside, like he had. She has to point out that hes not the outsider theyre looking for. You have say trump has a strong argument thats led to wins in the rust belt. Whats worked for him there . Trade, tad, trade, and deindustrialization. Thats his whole card. If he could win those rust belt states, he could win the election. His problem is, on matts point, the country may say, were on the wrong track. But Barack Obamas numbers have gone over 50 , as he said, last night. And if barack obama is doing that well in november, it will be hard for trump toed a vaps th advance that argument. Whatever he picks up in voters concerned about trade, hell lose with the massive negative numbers he has among women. I think his path is difficult. If there is a path, its rust belt with young voters, not voting in the same numbers that hillary needs. He helped bring them out, by the way. Do you think its possible to flip states . I think it will be very, very difficult. Pennsylvania, michigan . I think it will be very hard. The only way we get there, is if there is such dissatisfaction, such anger, to matts point. Voters look at Hillary Clinton and see somebody too traditional. Im tired of using the traditional remedies and im going with the experimental treatment with all the crazy side effects. And lz, back to the principal question again. The path for donald trump are there problems on the democrating sidemocratic side that could give trump a win . Absolutely. 1 in 4 bernie supporters say they wont vote for Hillary Clinton. Sh because she needs his sorters. The supporters that are behind Bernie Sanders are not to ones that want to see Hillary Clinton in the white house. Hes going to get tens of millions of people voting for him. The bernie or bust people have to decide whether or not they want him in. I know ted cruz is attacking donald trump for being like Hillary Clinton. Donald trump and Bernie Sanders are more alike on a lot of things. Theyre more alike on trade. Whats gone on with the middle class. Theyre more alike on war. Theyre more alike on wall street. Theyre more alike on a number of issues than he is with Hillary Clinton. I agree with lz. Its problematic. But this path for donald trump, and ted cruz, its so narrow to win a general election, it will be tough with all the head winds. I want to go to kristen. What do you think the path is . What are problems for demoat have demographics in their favor. Hillary clintons numbers arent great but better than Donald Trumps. When you ask young voters, which party theyll vote for, they prefer democrats. When you add the names clinton and trump, the number gets bigger. A great segue to Hillary Clinton. What gives her the more favorable win . Im going to pick up on something that was just said. Demographics are changed. The groups in the country that the democrats now rely on are the Fastest Growing groups in the country. The groups that the republicans rely on, theyre dwindling. Were less white, less married, less churched. And more socially progressive among vote voters. You look at those demographics. It puts it in a huge advantage for Hillary Clinton. One of the other things about this election that i think is very frustrating is that the two people most disliked by a majority of the country are about to end up running against each other. But for donald trump, Hillary Clinton would set a record on the most dislike. And distrusted, especially by independent voters. They have to choose between two disliked people. I have to get to e. J. On the path for victory for Hillary Clinton among the democrat grasks where she does not do well, the younger voter es who support Bernie Sanders. Right. I think that trump is the elixir that he needs. That doesnt have the side effects. You look at paul Harvard Institute of politics. She bead beats trump among young people 2 1 2 to one. Hes helpful on the bernie problem with a lot of the younger votes. The outrageous, over the will create a huge margin for Hillary Clinton among latinos and asianamericans, it will turn them out. Hes both a turner offer of voters and a turnout machine for her. Ten seconds to talk about the path for Hillary Clinton. Well, its her resume. At the end of the day, you ask yourself, a twoterm congresswoman, who was also secretary of state, who has spent her entire life working for people, seems on paper to be a much more qualified person to run the country than a wild businessman with a string of infidelities and bankrupt sis on his resume. You look at it at face value, its hard for me to see rational people going, im going to go with the reality tv star. And the problem for trump and hillary is it will exacerbate feelings. It will be a men versus women election. Stick around. You want to see the next piece. Lmplg last night, washington rolled out the red carpet.
