One black box found holding some of the clues white why the flight mysteriously crashed. On board two babies, families and a High School Group returning from a class trip. At the airport in dusseldorf, anguish, frantic relatives looking for news. The flight was a routinely operated route, only one hour 37 minute flight from barcelona, spain to dusseldorf, germany. On the flight deck the captain had more than ten years of experience, with 6,000 flight hours. But 44 minutes in to the flight something went wrong. At 10 45 a. M. Local time, the plane rapidly descends from a cruising altitude of 38,000 feet at a rate of 400 miles an hour. An emergency descent is usually something we do if there is a rapid depressurization, an altitude. You cant breathe normally above 27,000 feet even with oxygen masks. So we have to get you down quickly. But you can do an emergency descent for other reasons, smoke in the cockpit, suspected electrical fire and you need to ventilate the cabin and turn off the air conditioners. 10 53 a. M. The plane loses contact with french radar. In minutes the plane dropped 32,000 feet. What happened next is a mystery 30 minutes later, French Interior Ministry Officials were on site above the crash. The plane involved with was an airbus a320 one of the most common in the world with 4,000 currently in operation. The fact is these aircraft can go many decades of service before it is time to retire them. This was mid life aircraft in terms of the amount in the air. Molly . Good morning, reena. The sun is up and recovery operations are started again. We are five miles from the crash site here. Overnight nearly two dozen rescue workers actually spent the night, a very cold night up at that crash site. Overnight, families have begun to arrive here and we expect the first bodies to be recovered from the mountain along with debris and brought back here. The debris field is some four acres. It is estimated. Some searchers said they spotted debris, the size of a door or small car yesterday when we spoke to them and the kind and size of debris and how is broken up will give investigators clues how the plane crashed. Later today we should get more clues from french analysts who have been pouring over one of the planes black boxes. At this hour it is unclear what condition the box was recovered. Of course the black box could hold the answers and explain how the plane could just drop out of the sky. How accessible is the crash site . Is this a remote place . Absolutely. The location so remote. It is extremely remote. The only way to get there is by helicopter. Rescue workers must send from the helicopter to the crash site. Thats why they spent the night on the mountain so they could start at first light. I can tell you the helicopters are ready to take off and bring the bodies and debris back to the staging area. A Germanwings Flight from barcelona to dusseldorf slammed in the french alps yesterday with 150 people on board, including a group of High School Students. One of the black boxes has been covered. Reporter despite scary scenes like this bus weaving on a utah freeway, the driver arrested for driving under the influence. Overall school buses are safe. She just wrapped me up in that hug and it all disappeared. I was in new orleans. I dont know if i was on a planet at that time. I was just in that hug.
