Two window washers getting the scare of their life when a cable on their scaffolding suddenly gave way along one World Trade Center. The cables are supposed to come down at the same speed, and slack developed in the cables on the west side and the scaffold went from a horizontal position, which is a safe position, to what you see up there in a vertical position. Reporter for nearly an hour and a half, they waited, staying tethered to the scaffolding so they wouldnt fall as rescue teams rushed to the scene, clearing the plaza below making sure people who were there at the 9 11 memorial were safe. Finally the dramatic rescue. Firefighters inside the iconic tower which just opened last week using diamond saws to cut through three thick layers of this glass. They cut about a 3 8 inch layer of the outer glass and were able to safely move that into the building. Reporter pulling one worker, then the other, through the window to safety. Both men taken to the hospital to be treated for mild hypothermia. Despite the dramatic day they survived, we are told they are otherwise okay. And thats kind of our main goal.
