Offer apps that send text message alerts when a package is about to be dropped off so you can be sure that youre home. Not leaving it to security cameras to catch those porch pilferers in the act. Matt gutman, abc news, miami. Seems like bad luck that youll steal from a pastor. From a pastor when cops investigated the suspect, she had 28 packages from other people, all returned to the rightful owners. I like that the pastor came up with a hat called forgiven. And a pistol apparently. Thats a good combination. You use tide pods . Yeah that little guy cleans, brightens and fights stains. So now i can focus on more pressing matters. Wow isnt it beautiful . I love you baby and its quite all right he decides that woman there he wants to propose to her. Thats his best friend, emma. They went to the school together. And he eventually gets down on one leg to surprise her. One knee to surprise her. And hes singing love is the answer. And the reaction from the crowd was pretty emotional. That is the best. Gives you goose bumps. If you hate mondays, its mushy monday. I love that. Thats a new segment. And look at that. I mean, listen. The folks that glee dont even know how to stage Something Like this. Thats amazing. Congratulations to them. I can information gnever get those proposals. Not far from there, oakland city hall, two dancers. Aerial dancing. They went outside of city hall to pull off this stunt. This gopro camera video. Isnt this amazing . They rappelled about halfway down city hall. Makes my stomach turn just looking at that. Perfectly synchronized bouncing off the sides of the walls. Just rappelling like, you know, you arent suspended 50, 60 feet in the air dangling with a couple of ropes and carabiners. Do you think we could do a segment on dancing with the stars like this . I think it may be a solo routine. Its finish un to watch. But alligators, crocodiles. I grew up in florida and steered away from crocodiles. Take a look how close these divers came facetoface with crocodiles. This is out in the wild . The video was shot august 20th. They are interacting so close. All of this taking place in the waters off the southeast coast of mexico. Why do you do this . This just seems look its going to end tragically. It does. Oh, it does . No, im sorry, it does seem that way. Theres our poor headline for the day. Its great video. One direction fans are brave, very brufl people. Announcer from abc news, this is world news now. Good monday morning. Im dan kloeffler. Im reena ninan. We have a story coming up about this incredible mansion. Its so hard to like buy a piece of real estate anywhere but this house is kind of the big selling point is someone told me theres a candy room. Done. Sold. Vodka room. Done. Sold. A liquor candy store. Thats how we should make our money. Were out of here. Well get to that in a minute. We have a lot of serious news. Tough turn to make. Someone who the white house and maybe much of the america and the world is hoping doesnt have a home, isis and the war on isis and president obama closing in on his decision to launch air strikes inside syria. Congress approved his plan to train and arm Syrian Rebels to fight isis militants. Even the president s top military advisers are questioning whether the job can be done without american combat troops. Heres abcs jonathan karl. Reporter with an assist from french pilots who are now flying their own missions over iraq, the u. S. Led air war on isis his expanded. More targets, more bombs and strikes in syria only a matter of time. The president heads to the u. N. This week to make the case yet again for a Global Campaign to destroy isis. Hes already made the pitch five times over the past 11 days. Each time also making it clear what he wont do. The American Forces that have been deployed do not and will not have a combat mission in iraq or in syria. Reporter the president s top generals seem to disagree. If there are threats to the United States then i, of course, would go back to the president and make a recommendation that may include the use of u. S. Military ground forces. Reporter the white house insists there is no disagreement. That the president is open to having u. S. Troops embedded with iraqi troops on the front lines. Just dont call them combat troops. These would be troops serving on the ground. These will be troops wearing boots, i assume. Theyd be combat ready and in the line of fire. How are you not considering these troops that are combat troops . They are not in a combat role. They are in an advise and assist role that, yes, it does carry with it some risk. But it is different than the combat role that american troops were engaged in for such a long time in iraq. Reporter Congress Approved the president s plan to train rebels to fight isis on the ground in syria. The rare bipartisan show of support. But wait. The pentagon said it will take three to five months to begin the training and that the first fighters wont be trained until the spring at the earliest. It will take about a year to train the first 5,000. That helps explain why Officials Say the campaign to defeat isis will take years and years. Jonathan karl, abc news, the white house. An iraq war veteran who managed to scale a fence friday and run into the white house before the secret service could stop him is expected in federal court today. 42yearold Omar Gonzalez was arrested and found carrying a small folding knife. His family says he suffers from posttraumatic stress syndrome and wouldnt have hurt anyone. President obama and the first family were not home at the time of the security breach. All five inmates who escaped from a Central California jail friday night have been captured. The fifth escapee was taken into custody in Madera County yesterday following an anonymous tip. They were also tipped off before catching the other four inmates. They were held on various charges including attempted murder. Its still not clear how they escaped. Police in pennsylvania are closing in on that survivalist suspected in the deadly ambush of state troopers. After nine days of searching, they have new clues revealing several items recovered from the woods where eric frein is believed to be hiding. Among them, a powerful rifle and two ak47 clips. Although frein likely planned the attack for a long time and prepared for that escape, Police Believe they are getting the upper hand in the search. Up until now his advantage has been this is his backyard and he knows this rugged terrain. Our Tactical Operations people now also know his backyard, the area he once felt safe in. As many as 7,000 residents are being told to lock their doors, lock their windows and keep outdoor lights on throughout the night. Some schools will be closed again today as a precaution. Police in virginia are trying to track down a person of interest in the disappearance of a missing university of virginia student. 18yearold Hannah Graham was last seen leaving the bar in the Early Morning hours last saturday. Police have issued an arrest warrant for Jesse Matthew believed to be the last person to see graham alive. Nearly 1,000 volunteers turned out this past weekend to help search for hannah. The forest fires raging in the west. Nearly 20 of them in just five states. Its a break in the weather has helped firefighters make some progress in that monster fire burning out of control in Northern California. This morning, though, it is just 17 contained. Abcs aditi roy takes us to those front lines. Reporter the stubborn flames ripped through the steep terrain of Northern Californias Eldorado National forest. The blaze now 82,000 acres and growing over the weekend forcing 3,000 to flee their homes. People are worried. The highest priority now in this area is to continually assess when residents can come back in here. Reporter the wildfire outmuscling 5,000 firefighters, leveling 30 structures, including ten homes. Right now the biggest challenge with this fire is the terrain that the fire is burning in and the area. The fact that the fire is so far away from a lot of superpopulated areas. Reporter you can even see the plumes of smoke from space. Tankers dropping more fire retardant than on any other fire in history. A recordsetting 450,000 gallons of whats called red slurry. Water and fertilizer with red dye leaving many homes shrouded in pink dust. The fire ravaged this area. Youll still notice the hot spots, the blackened earth, the charred trees. Hand crews came and dug this line to prevent the flames from spreading to the other side, but the fire rages on out of control. Aditi roy, abc news, Eldorado National forest. Nasa scientists are celebrating a big achievement. A spacecraft named maven is now circling mars. It lifted off from earth last november. Traveled 442 million miles and launched into orbit just hours ago. Thats where it will stay. It wont land on the planet. Its mission is to study the planets upper atmosphere to find out how mars went from warm, wet planet early in story to a cold, dark one today. Isnt it fascinating . Obviously the lessons they learn from there could be applied to potentially any kind of changes we see here on earth. This is really a big moment for nasa. Theyve done ten of these launches. The last three were not successful. This was really a moment of victory for them that this took off so well. Its a great point. The fact that nasa has plans of sending manned mission to mars some time in the 2030s which, i mean, it just seems like science fiction, but, obviously, not an unachievable goal to make. 2030. Will we even be alive then . I would hope so. It seems like an eternity away. Sorry to cut your lifespan short. Not at all.
