Were celebrating our 21st birthday, so all throughout the show, were playing songs big in 92, including achy breaky heart. It was a great year. As youll see throughout the next couple of hours on the show. The bar is open. Were going to hit it in just a few. But first, the story of two teenagers, an icy lake and the saving power of one rickety tree. Heres abcs cecilia vega. Reporter all they had was a dying tree. For more than four hours, thats what the two boys clung to, stranded in the middle of an icy lake. I was pretty scared. Yeah, it was pretty scary. You could feel it sinking in and cracking. Reporter the two told us what happened when they went out walking on that lake in the arizona mountains, and the ice cracked. If the tree wasnt there, we probably would have fallen in. Reporter each lost a shoe, so they covered their bare feet with their hats and waited. By the time rescuers arrived, night had fallen. It took a team of two dozen to pull the boys to safety. Whats the lesson in all of this . Dont do that again. Reporter lesson learned, the cold hard way. Cecilia vega, abc news, los angeles. Wow, lucky guys. Hang on to that tree. When we come back, were going to take a stroll over to the insomniac lounge to see whats on tap here on our 21st birthday. Our Birthday Celebration kicking into high gear, next. Youre watching world news now. Here we go, 21. There it goes. Oh, my god. Becky, rook at her butt. It is so big. She looks like one of those rap guys girlfriends that only talks to her because she looks like a total prostitute. I mean, her butt is just so big. I cant believe its so round and out there. I mean, gross. Look. Shes just so i like big butts and i cannot lie you other brothers cannot deny you get feelings. Thats willis favorite video. Hes happy, too. I love big butts my kids favorite song. They have it in a lot of kid movies, too. A highlight of 92, no doubt. As you can tell, we are in the lounge, the bar is wide open. Thats because were 21 years old and finally legal. Absolutely. Its about time. Its been waiting all this time. We have not had one sip until our 21st birthday. So were taking a look at the year 1992, which is when this show was birthed. So this is usually when we do the skinny, so we thought lets look back at pop culture. So tv shows, we had murphy brown, cheers, home improvement. And the number one comedy at the time, roseanne was number one at the time. Everyone loved the connor family. Take a listen. What do you think about her butt, dan . Very jaunty. Come on, nancy, ill drive you home. This time i wont go over the railroad tracks. The number one show 60 minutes. One of the best, if not the very best news shows. But in terms of comedy roseanne was queen. And we talk about movies, as well. In terms of the theater, none of us can forget silence of the lambs. I was afraid to sleep for two years after this movie. Anthony hopkins for best actor and jodie foster, best actress. None of the sequels lived up to the original. The original was so good. Anthony hopkins had everyone scared. I had a hard time eating meat at the dinner table after this movie. Do you remember the part where they cut it . It was bad. Has the lamb stopped screaming yet, clarisse . I love that movie so much. He was so creepy. And on a totally different note, the most popular film at the time, aladdin. I remember taking my eighth grade girlfriend to go see. I will show you the world ill shoel you the world. A few more drinks and youll show me a lot of things. Celebrity news. Do you remember the scandal in 1992 . Fergie. Were talking about the Prince Andrew divorce. They ended their relationship. And Johnny Carson ended his 30year run at the tonight show. That last moment where he said i wish you a heart felt good night. And after 30 years, that was incredible. Tv legend. Never will be another carson. And then bill cosby signing off the air. One of my favorite sitcoms. That was the pilot episode. Had a great eightyear run. Who didnt love the huxtable clan . And also, if you want to feel really old here. We already do. Guess which celebrities who are famous today who were born back in 1992, way after the cosby show. These three were all born in 1992. Incredible. How old do we feel now . Best alternative music album of the year goes to r. E. M. And the single, of course, losing my religion. I still to this day love r. E. M. Theyre definitely in the top tier. And get this, the top at the grammys that year, the top album or best record of the year went to this classic natalie cole, singing with her deceased dad, Nat King Cole unforgettable.
