Walker was a passenger in a porsche that collided with a pole and caught fire. The actor had been attending his Charity Event to benefit typhoon victims in the philippines. We have Team Coverage beginning with cecilia vega at the crash site. Reporter look at the fans who spent the night out here, mourning the loss of paul walker. When this crash happened, the fire was so big they couldnt put it out. A crash site turned into a memorial. Overnight, it was a joyride that ended in this. L. A. 156 were on scene, we have one car fully engulfed. Reporter when rescue crews arrived the twisted remains of the car scene, this video obtained exclusively by abc news still shows the car engulfed in flames. Two people dead. One of them is paul walker. We heard the crash. We heard the explosion. And we got up here as quick as we could. To find out what it was. Reporter the crash left the mangled car unrecognizable. The red porsche wrapped around a tree. According to walkers friend, jim thorpe, the passenger inside was Actor Paul Walker and the driver, walkers friend, roger rhodas. This was just a tragic accident that happened on a joyride. They were just taking the car for a drive. Reporter two bodies removed by the coroners. Investigators said it appeared that the driver lost control before hitting this tree in a quiet business park. Paul wanted to go for a ride. He wanted to go for a ride in the car and they went for a ride. Reporter the 40yearold actor rose to fame behind the wheel of fast cars in street races in the popular fast furious movies. On sunday, he attended his charity toy drive and car show to help victims of last months victims from the typhoon in the philippines. As the investigation in to what happened this goes on, so does the shock of an actor famous for his love of cars on and off screen. And the sad irony of what happened out here is lost on no one. Hollywood is simply stunned. We have seen all night long, tweets and reaction online from hollywoods biggest stars. The person behind the wheel was a professional driver. Later turning up in the 80s on such sitcoms as whos the boss and charles in charge. And the big screen he would be in seen in late 90s movies, like varsity blues. I was lying in bed last night. Reporter but fast furious made him a star. How was that one. Reporter as news of his death spread saturday night, walkers friends and costars took to social media to pay tribute to his memory. From an insta gram said to belong to vin diesel, brother, i will miss you very much. I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new angel. Rest in peace. At the time of his death, walker was raising funds for his charity, reach out worldwide. He leaves behind a daughter, meadow. And millions of saddened fans. Paul walker died on saturday in a car accident in santa clarita, california, he was 40 years old. In additional cause for sadness. Veteran of the korean war, held for nearly five weeks. Merrill newman, 85yearold retired california finance executive and grandfather was an a sightseeing trip to north korea when he was detained on october 26th. He appeared this weekend. In a videotaped message, he apologized for what he called hostile act. On this trip, i can understand that in u. S. And western countries there is misleading information and propaganda. About dprk. Reporter the new images of newman prompted a new rebuke from the Obama Administration. Given newmans advanced age and health conditions, we urge the dprk to release mr. Newman so he may return home and reunite with his family. All this, as Vice President biden visits asia this week, with a stop in south korea. The United States has no official diplomatic relations with north korea, but Swedish Embassy officials visited newman on saturday, they say hes alive and receiving his medication. In a statement saturday night, the Newman Family implored the north korean government to take into account his health and his age and as an act of humanitarian compassion, allow him to depart immediately for home. Now, theres optimism for his release, given his apparent treatment so far, but also, the reality of how serious this captivity is, another american also accused of hostile acts, has been held for more than a year. We begin with the latest from that deadly Helicopter Crash in scotland, rescue crews are combing through a pub searching for survivors. Police are working to recover the remains of the victims. Theyre hoping survivors may still be found. The roof of the crowded glasgow pub collapsed. When the police Helicopter Crashed into it. And new details are emerging from that plane crash in a 25yearold mother, a passenger on that plane made a desperate cell phone car for help that her baby was injured, she walked a mile in snow to lead authorities to the site of the crash. That killed four of the planes ten passengers, including her child. And overnight, a tremendous explosion destroyed a home in grandview, texas, leaving little behind but debris. Authorities are at the scene and still investigating what caused the explosion. Witnesses across the dallas ft. Worth said it felt like an earthquake and sounded like a bomb. No word if there are any injuries from that incident. On the heels of black friday, shoppers took their local mom and pop shops to celebrate Small Business saturday. Reporter the women youre about to see who make history in their sport, range in age from 20 to 53. For these women, the moment is finally here. On a crisp arizona saturday, diving their way into the record books. Its vertical diving. So, were on heads while were in freefall. Reporter thats right. Theyre upside down, taking a leap of faith aimed at setting a new world record for the largest allfemale formation of its kind. We exit the airplane in a choreograph fashion. Reporter the drop from 18,000 feet. The timing, crucial. So, we have about 40 seconds working time. Maybe a little less. Reporter all while hurdling towards the earth at 165 miles per hour. 95 women, trying out for just 63 spots. The rush comes from not exactly a fear of skydiving, but more of an excitement of being doing something together as a group. Reporter its done from 13,000 feet. These women were diving from 18,000 feet. Requiring them to take oxygen in the last 5,000 feet. They described the task as difficult and stressful. The video is mesmerizing. I can watch it all day. Its beautiful. I think i know where they got their inspiration, though. A year and a half ago ginger and i did our own skydiving. No doubt that was it. Then one of them was killed, buried alive in fact, and now two years later, police have charged his best friend with murder. Reporter this morning, 21yearold thomas liming, seen here in a high school photo, sits behind bars accused of murdering his own best friend, kyle underhill. Underhills death shocked a quiet long island community. The 18yearold graduating senior disappeared that november. Days later, police found his beaten body in a marsh behind an elementary school. The case went cold. Many cases take a number of months or sometimes years to solve because of evidence, basically. Reporter police say that liming turned himself in just days ago when he learned he would be indicted. But a former classmate now says that liming could not have killed underhill. They were extremely close. They were inseparable. They always laughed together. Reporter investigators suspected murder from the beginning, because underhills body was found covered with a wood board, two sticks lodged in his mouth. This murder is has a lot to do with passion and rage. Two key components to this. Its highly personal. And its overkill. Reporter mysteriously, underhill left behind this yearbook message. To all my friends im so glad for the times we had together. To everyone else, i hate you all.
