Leon theres something wrong about this. Spring and snow plows arent supposed to go together. This is the Early Morning commute for people in wisconsin today. They got a couple of inches of that wet and heavy stuff last night. Good news, though its all expected to melt by the end of the day today. But here not a particularly pretty day here at home. But Cherry Blossoms around the tidal basin getting ready to be the most beautiful. Alison the question is what will tonights rain and tomorrows winds, what could they mean for the flowers out ther Rebecca Cooper live at the tidal basin for a look at us. Hello, rebecca. Rebecca good news alison and leon, we came out here earlier today. It was cold. It was drizzly. It was overcast at the 4 00 newscast. What a difference an hour makes. Take a look. It is beautiful outside. The blossoms are bursting. The sun has come out. Its warmed up. But look at this you can still see plenty of room for whatever reason. The sidewalks are not crowded like they usually are. And lots of people talking about just how beautiful it is at the tidal basin today. It may be cold and gray outside but the trees are bursting with blossoms for the hundreds of visitors here at the tidal basin today. This is something that was on the bucket list for a while. Just being in washington, d. C. For the Cherry Blossoms and weve kind made it happen at the last second and kind of really grateful about that. But i had no idea it would be this busy. Rebecca the family are here from long island for spring break. I loved watch the Cherry Blossoms like over there. Its so beautiful ive always heard my friend come here and say theyve had a great time and ive always wanted to experience it. Kind of nice being here. Rebecca she is visiting from tokyo. First, she told us in japanese what she thinks of the trees donated from her country. [speaking japanese] and then she told us in english. Theyre beautiful and i love it. She actually found parking near the blossoms but doubt there will be any Spaces Available once the crowds hit this weekend. Its probably going to be worse tomorrow. But because theres a parade tomorrow, right . Rebecca even usually on this friday, its usually sidewalk gridlock. Dont be afraid to come out tonight and enjoy the Cherry Blossoms. Still some storms developing now in the richmond area. Well check those in a minute. Thats the area that has the warm air and theyre under the biggest threat of storms. Warm front is slow to move. Its on the move now. Quickly replaced by a cold front later tonight and thats going to open the door for the big blue h. High Pressure Center to come in and give us a bright sunny weekend. Satellite and radar, concentrate on this area near richmond thats shown some potential in the past hour or two starting to flare up right now and as a result, were going to see in that area, the richmond area, were going to see possibility of a couple of heavy thunderstorms that could move northeastward towards middle peninsula and areas towards tidewater, virginia and hampton roads, that whole area. Well still have a chance in the next hour or two for a couple of showers but thunderstorm chances, i think, will continue to do well to the south and east. Skies clearing out all the way in the overnight hours. Plenty of sunshine tomorrow and plenty of sunshine for monday. Maybe a few late day clouds on sunday but no rain in sight after we get the next few hours. We are going to be in good shape. Tomorrow, sunny. A bit breezy at times. Highs in the mid to upper 60s. Scott alison Hillary Clinton is the big headline that you mentioned there. It is highly expected now that shell make the announcement sunday around noon. And while many people believe the nomination is hers to lose there are some challenges that she has to take very seriously. Wow what an amazing crowd scott while her candidacy will come as no surprise the style of her announcement could. Many reporting that Hillary Clinton will use social media to make it official and hit iowa for a series of small events in homes and meeting personally with voters. A fresh start many say she needs. If you talk to democrats in this town, theyre a little worried that she has gotten off to kind of a rocky start with the emails and the clinton foundation. They all remember as we all do 2008 and it was a disaster for her. Scott it is hardly an 2008 with no barack obama juggernaut to tackle. Former Maryland Governor martin omalley, if he runs, would face an uphill battle considering the cash the clinton machine would raise. And at the moment, Elizabeth Warren is staying put on the hill. I believe in that america and thats why i wrote this book. Sound like a president ial candidate. Maureen the sun is peeking out a bit in place around the metro area but still overcast in others. That could warm things up but also bring some storms. All afternoon, weve been waiting to see if Stormy Weather will make it to our area. Chief meteorologist doug hill is keeping track from the storm watch weather center. Doug . Doug hey, maureen, the story is because of the cooler temperatures and clouds today, the heavy storms that are developing are developing in the richmond area. Lets start and take a close look at Doppler Radar in the metro area. Lets zoom into metro washington. Showers through Montgomery County right now. Down the road towards wheaton and into forest glenn, Silver Spring and northwest washington there are more showers just developing on the southern end of that from the Potomac River into mclean. But the heavier showers are restricted in a few spots. Culpepper, and you get farther south through gordonsville lower end of the Shenandoah Valley heavier showers there. Thats well southwest of fredricksburg. But richmond is the jackpot right now. Stretching from the middle peninsula all the way south to richmond to petersburg. Those are heavy storms. A lot of lightning there. And at least one of those turned severe a little while ago. All that is moving to the northeast towards the middle peninsula at the lower end of the chesapeake bay. Just a few showers tonight we think. Well continue to monitor that. Eventually that will land the thunderstorms well south and east of d. C. And then well see clearing skies overnight and on tap for a beautiful weekend
